J Willie Reynolds' Self-Portrait at Town Hall in Time For Election

Bethlehem's latest art show is a Self-Portrait Exhibit at Town Hall. Arriving early for last night's ZHB meeting, I took a little tour and was struck by this.

That's J. Willie Reynolds, a City Councilman. Here's how he explains his art.

Or does it sum up his excitement and joy at being able to advertise himself, at no cost, in Town Hall, and just when he happens to be running for re-election? I see no difference between this and a campaign sign. Neither should be permitted in a government building.

With all due respect, this painting makes the guy look a hundred times better than he really looks.

Question.. why would anyone in their right mind want to serve on City Council when the place is under federal investigation, on the verge of bankruptcy and embroiled in lawsuits and potential lawsuits?? Please someone tell me. Does any candidate really, really think they can change the City?

This is not the reason Donchez can't stand him.

It's art... Leave it at that!

It looks like a cross between Beavis and Butthead, but not as well drawn.

One voice can make a difference, and two or three even more so. In terms of City Council, since you have Dave D on now, a man who understands financially issues and has a strong voice...if you add three more...at least there would be a possibility of reason especially when it comes to votes relating to finances. If Willy R and Mikey R both get elected, it will be more of the same.

I believe he used one of the photos where he's drunk. He had it posted on his Facebook for some time.

Glad to see he stuck with the finger painting all these years after elementary school.

I am unqualified to comment on art, but I am qualified to say it is very unseemly for someone to be promoting himself inside a government building right before an election in which he is one of the candidates. That is politics, not art.

He gave himself hair! LOL

He loves to run around wearing that goofy walmart fedora. Face it Willie you are bald. Embrace the skin.

The infamous drunk (or high) photo that was the inspiration...

I know not Mr. Reynolds. I have no opinion on his election, but be careful here Bernie, unless you want to say that public officials, even those up for election, can not participate in events that are open to the general public. Tis a slippery slope with even greater ramifications on the first amendment.

Click Me,

You have no basis for concluding that Reynolds was in any way intoxicated or high. Let's be fair.

Did everyone get their self-portraits on the wall or did some people not get selected. If that was the case then it was purely political and unethical.

What do you want, like Barron another Long Dem.

i thought his self portrait would be a picture of a huge rubber stamp
