Endorsements? Fed Ed Needs No Steekin' Endorsements

In his latest epistle to his disciples, Allentown Mayor Edwin "Fed Ed" Pawlowski claims he needs no steenkin' endorsements because he delivers results. Hopefully, we'll be seeing some more of those results soon.

Voters elect candidates. Not endorsers.

Bernie - can you remove comments about other candidates?

Moving Allentown Forward – Together
Public Service before Politics. Courage in the face of Opposition
Rarely in our city’s history have we been so close to achieving our full potential. Never in our city’s past have we come so close to losing all that promise offers. Essential to our success? Who Allentown voters choose as their next Mayor November 11, 2017. For the past thirty years Sam Bennett has been preparing herself to be the leader for Allentown’s future – and would be honored to have your support.

First, faith must be restored in City Hall and its Mayor’s Office to keep Allentown’s long overdue redevelopment momentum moving forward. We MUST have a leader proven in their ability to withstand political pressure, willing to openly hold to their convictions, no matter what the cost.

Ed's the perfect guy for a City Without Limits.

Prediction: Fed Ed will escape federal prosecution and be re-elected Mayor of Allentown.

Wait for his trial, six co-conspirators, over a 100 phone tapes, testimony by numerous current city hall employees and his trusted campaign manager who was in s--- from the get go. Then your hero won't be getting elected for a 4th term!

@7:39 Lets see the indictments first. Then we'll judge him on the evidence presents, and let the chips fall where they may.

Comments about other candidates are OT here.

Blight and degredation to the entire rest of the city through misappropreation, itZ only claim to fame!

Does the endorsement of the FBI count?

Clearly, Pawlowski has his incumbency as an asset as well as name recognition. He can also point out his accomplishments, especially during his last term as during that time, the fact of Allentown has changed significantly.

Most people won't realize that he had 'theoretically' nothing to do with the NIZ, as that was Browne (a Republican) slipping the legislation through the legislature in the middle of the night and Reilly doing the heavy lifting literally of tearing down and constructing most of the buildings. And yes, raking in the money from it.

But Ed can point out correctly that he was the one who put the hockey arena in downtown, and without it, there wouldn't have been Neil Diamond, Elton John, the Monster Trucks and the other attractions other than the Phantoms here in Allentown.

His legal troubles aside, I think he stands a better than even chance of winning the Democratic Primary.

Remember, if you don't like the subject, then change the conversation. And Ed has a lot of things to change the conversation about other than the cloud over him from the FBI. His competition can basically talk about Ed's problems, not their achievements, as what do they have to campaign on other than "I'm better than he is".

He'll win. Other than perhaps some folks on the west end, your average Allentown voter is clueless and will just pull the lever from him because they know the name, there is a "D" next to it, and he has done nothing directly to disrupt their lives. These folks do not follow the news or these blogs and have no clue about the extent of FedEd's alleged wrongdoings.

I think the voters of Allentown are smart enough to see through his pretense. He tries hard to be a master of political character assassination. Why? To try to spread mud as far as possible, to take the focus away from his illegal activities. He has harassed his employees, and runs his campaign as negative and dirty as possible "on the side." He isn't fooling anyone by hiding behind his henchmen.

No one really gives a damn if the runs over the hacks down at City Hall. It's the face he presents to the voters that matters. Look at what happened to the Colonial? It's a 10 story new modern office building now. Look at what happened to Sals? It's a nice restaurant. There are new places to live downtown. Before Ed there was what? What Mark Mendleson left? Hell even the Americus looks better than it did when the canvasses were around the building to catch the bricks falling off it.

New jobs in buildings that were vacant and falling apart. New businesses. Ed has a lot to campaign on to the voters. All Mayor Pawlowski's opponents have is to throw mud and throw shit at him. A positive campaign beats a negative campaign as voters want to vote FOR someone, not AGAINST someone.

Betsy Morris Levin on Facebook: "Yes, I personally witnessed corruption that was ordered by Ed. That and other things drove me to resign before I was a party to the corruption reign of terror." You think she's the only one talking?

@11:09 Never heard of her. How many voters you think have? A dozen maybe?

Has she spoken to the FBI?

Where are any indictments against the Mayor ?

Allentown has improved 200% under Mayor Ed. The downtown is thriving and much more livable. Give the guy credit. He had a vision to restore a dying downtown and helped to make it happen. Only bitter, underachieving O'Hare would disagree with that. Assuming there is no indictment, Pawlowski will win in a landslide. He deserves it.

How long does it take to indict a small town Mayor? The FBI ran though city hall two summers ago. Even Hillary Clinton didn't take that long to investigate.

All good things come to those who wait.

11:09-I believe Julian Kern wrote that on Betsy Morris Levin's Facebook page.

I see the comment making it clear the Mayor has not been charged with any crime was removed. The comment also made it clear the Mayor has been hounded by this blog attacking him for years. Yet no arrest. Innuendo and hate and fear are thrown out there. Fortunately the justice system pays no attention to blogs.

As posted before the only endorsement that matters is that of the voters, to blogs. Of course that was dangerous for you folks to read so it disappeared because alternate facts are the norm on this blog.

You were deleted bc you attacked another candidate. You can't even be honest about that, and shill for Fed Ed. Figures.

"I believe Julian Kern wrote that on Betsy Morris Levin's Facebook page"

She wrote those words and they say more than all the anonymous comments that Fed Ed, his wife and the Blog Mentor post here.

I never heard of Betsy Morris Levin until today reading this blog. And I suspect it's the same for thousands of voters in Allentown as well. Posting innuendo on a personal Facebook page also isn't exactly something that many people read as a news site.

Now if these allegations were given wide dissemination like on WFMZ or The Morning Call, then maybe my 84 year old mother who doesn't have a computer might be aware of them. Perhaps if that were the case, and some good, honest, deep investigation by the reporters of the Morning Call, who love to dig up the dirt on politicians, could substantiate it, perhaps it wouldn't the the innuendo on some minor Facebook page that it is now.

So sorry.

Redd, If you can't write a normal comment, stop posting here. I've bent over backwards to allow you to comment, but it is just too much.

That just might happen. Many of the anonymous comments first reported here eventually end up as mainstream news stories. It's the sole reason why I still allow anonymous comments. I pick up on something, write a story, and sometimes, the dailies pick it up. But you wouldn't know about tthat since you seem to limit yourself to being a troll.

So sorry.

There is a sad state of affairs today, which I'm sure you're aware of Bernie. When you choose to comment on public issues and identify yourself, your shield of privacy is gone. I'm certain that you and other local bloggers know this well, as those who don't agree with you are subjected to nuts on both sides that may threaten your well-being or property.

We're not "trolls" as you call us for not disclosing our identity, I can speak (or write in this media) and express my views without having to worry about my home littered by toilet paper, or having my car keyed, or other acts of vandalism by the real "trolls" who for one reason or another choose to express their opinion in a civilized manner.

That is just the way it is today.

I've heard of Betsy Levin, a dedicated former City employee with impeccable character. One of the worst legacies of Fed Ed's tenure will be the loss of many outstanding employees in City Hall. These were not the types to live in Philadelphia and miss 10 days of work in 6 weeks either. Good local, competent, career professional employees like Betsy, who took pride in Allentown.

Betsy has my vote!

6:53, In other words, you are a pussy who lacks the courage of your convictions. If you want to come on here and talk like a weasel about the reach of someone's Facebook page or this blog, you are being a troll. I don't like trolls. Especially anonymous trolls. Better check your car to make sure it is not being keyed.

Does the city still own swamp land?

Fed Ed has city employees working on his campaign.

Sorry I didn't see this yesterday.
If you never heard of Betsey you are too ignorant to have an informed opinion.

Are City employees allowed to work on the Mayor's re-election campaign? Does his campaign re-emburse the city for the time? This is insanity.
