What's Your Take on the VEEP Debate?

I confess that I fell asleep and missed most of the VEEP debate between Mike Pence and Tim Kaine. From what little I saw on the 'net, it looked to me as though Kaine came on too strong. This was their one and only get-together. My nephew calls this "the political equivalent of 'My dad could totally beat your dad up' but with stupid power ties."

Pence was the adult tonight. Kaine showed no class by interrupting Pence at the first opportunity, like a petulant child. The moderator lost control of the debate early, and was a total mess.

Kaine came across more as Cain looking for Abel than a VP wannabe.

Mike Pence proved himself the only adult on either ticket.

The "moderator" was relentless in shutting down Pence the second he started mentioning emails.

I give credit to Pence for choosing what he wants to talk about whether or not the moderator likes it. The "moderator" is there to steer the discussion to friendly ground for Democrats. Pence/Trump must not play along.

Also, Kaine was snarky, rude and dishonest. Pence was sincere, genuine and respectful. Good contrast, to his favor.

Also, have you heard how much all that free college will cost you when you start working after school? In taxes we will all be paying up to 60% when they are done. It will cost this country trillions to give everyone free college. Plus the 20 trillion we owe now. Someone has to pay for it.

Nothing is free. It sure the hell will not be just the rich paying for it. If that was so they all would just move out of the country. It will fall on all the people who almost can't make it now. Hillary has plans to tax us all 60%

Hillary Clinton was re-building our military while Donald Trump wasn't paying his taxes?

Allepo is being bombed because Trump wasn't paying his taxes?

Clinton Foundation rated higher than the American Red Cross ?

Oh fucking PLEASE.........

Pence was running for re election and failed to defend Trumps record. Not sure that helps trump. Stylistic, Pence could not defend trump and was a little selfish in a way. Kaine, on the other hand, prosecuted trumps own words. It was more important to the clinton campaign to educate voters than style. Both candidates interrupeted when the other strayed from the facts. Kaine had to correct pence more often when he denied trumps own statements. Seems like a three way race with both oence and kaine running against trump.

I thought Tim Kaine was easily the better prepared and more effective debater. Kaine had a well rehearsed answer for every Clinton criticism. However, I found his personality to be annoying and off-putting. All in all I'd call it a draw as Pence seemed more likable and he had a tough job defending everything the Donald has said.

Pence FALSELY claimed that only 10% of Clinton Foundation dollars go to charity. The TRUTH is that 88% of Clinton Fundation dollars raised go to charity and it only costs $2 for every $100 raised. That is excellent for any charitable organization.

Verdict: Liar Liar, Pence pants on fire.

Comm'n Mike... the donald told you to say it twice and click your heals three times and hope your fib sticks.

Kaine showed nothing of substance! He kept interrupting Pence when Pence tried to tell the electorate about their platform. All Kaine wanted to do was throw insults at "the Donald" and repeat the same old BS Ms. Hillary spouts. Once again he reinforces their need to support the liberal Obama agenda and watch this country fall deeper into despair and division. According to Kaine, lying Hillary has stopped the Iranian nuclear bomb program and Israel agrees with that assessment. Yeah, and I got a bridge to sell you. The only thing holding back Netenyahu from blowing back their program to 1959 is the purse strings Obama controls! That is Obama/Clinton foreign policy in a nutshell.

Kaine was a hack at the debate, channeling the guano loco and coming off as untrustworthy and creepy. He attacked Pence and had no new ideas, only talking points which he repeated mindlessly. It was sad to see such epic fail.

Secretary Clinton should have chosen Senator Warren instead. She would have pummeled jackass Pence and his backyard, hillbilly rhetoric.

Me and da Misses was a watching da freak show. Din't give dis hillbilly any reason to change mine mind. Da misses said da same ting. Da democrat was annoyong at times and da Republican was boring at times. No 1 gived me any reaspn to change my brain on dis elektion. Tank da good Lord ders only one of dees deebates.
In plain words, these two guys were a freak show with the Republican having a slight edge because of his demeanor and failed in his weak attempt to defend Trump.

I think on balance, Pence came across as steady, nice, and well informed. Exactly what Trump needs for balance.

Kaine came across in a way that highlights, not balances, Hillary’s defects.

11:26 You have to remember that the purpose of public polling is to influence voter thought and also to depress turnout. How well the candidate is actually doing are closely held secrets by the candidates that they get from their own private polls. The ones you see in public are more or less eye candy which are presented to sway opinion.

The media is playing you for fools if you actually believe them.

That is true for some polls and false for others. It's why I rely on Nate Silver, whose balanced approach is nearly always successful.

1:05, your comment had nothing to do with the VEEP debate and is hence deleted. Stick to the subject please.

Nate Silver and 538 are not balanced. I like his stuff. But be serious.

No one walked away from that debate thinking Kaine could take over when Hillary has another seizure.

Trump sure picked a winner in Pence. Pence looked presidential, well spoken, informed, loyal, full of class. Compare that to Hillary's disastrous pick.

Pence denied every policy position and statement Trump has made. if Republicans think that was great, then the Kool-Aid is spiked to the point of no return.

Watching the debate, it looked like Kaine took his game plan right out of the 2012 Joe Biden playbook; "show up under the influence, smile like a fat kid farting in a crowded elevator, interrupt and shout like his meds just ran out and wait for the moderator to attack the other guy"

Given he have little or nothing positive to say about Hillary, Kaine had one way of dealing with facts; lie about Trump and just say "that's not true" whenever Pence presented a fact about her.

Pence also should have commented to the moderator that she repeatedly let Kaine interrupt him and speak over his words. He should have rightly demanded that he wanted Kaine's interruption-time taken off his time and rebated back to him. Also for Kaine to save the name-calling for the school kids and the safe-space cadets at kiddie-colleges.

But when the media is in the tank for Hillary, this is what you have to expect.

It's pretty rich that all the Trump supporters here are criticizing Kaine for interrupting and allegedly lying (though nobody here has pointed to a specific instance). Pence certainly seemed calm and spoke well, but didn't come close to answering most of the questions he was asked. Kaine seemed overeager and anxious, and his voice certainly doesn't compare well with Pence's soothing baritone, but there was a lot more substance to what he was saying.
