US Supreme Court Denies Injunctive Relief Against Wolf Shutdown

The Hill is reporting that the United States Supreme Court has declined to issue a stay against Governor Tom Wolf's Executiver Order sutting down mist of the state's economy. Though this denial has yet to make its way to the docket, The Hill adds that this denial was made without comment. What this means is that less than a majority supported the request.

The underlying complaints remain.

As I indicated previously, I thought the request for a stay was a mistake. One of the petitioners, a golf course, has been permitted to resume business.

They called it a request for a stay, but it actually was a request for an injunction. And most poorly argued.

But I thought the Governor was a tyrant. So why isn't the right-wing Supreme Court taking this chance to protect the defenseless people of Pennsylvania from this horrible man?

Thank you, Gov. Wolf, for protecting us from the virus. Don't the constant complainers get you down.

Dr. Levine also deserves a lot of credit. She probably should run for governor.

Does this mean that the Supreme Court I draconian? I'm so confused now.

Both Dr. Levine Gov. Wolf are the heroes of Pennsylvania.
If only our president heed from there example of courage.

I said at the onset that an injunction was a long shot. But on the merits, the claim regarding procedural due process is a winner.

Agreed. The attorney who filed this is a right-wing radio talk show host and does not appear to have much appellate experience. But he'll get better.

Anon7:35 - wait until Monday ,you’re going to find our “what heroes “ they are . With an “F “ .You hose it here first ,I’m retired firefighter..

So the lead counsel-- Marc A. Scaringi who just happens to have been an aide for Santorum.
He has ties to the republican led General assembly yet he can not get them to overrule Wolf.
They were told this by the PA supremos yet the republicans failed to act.
Wolf at least acted(whether you agree or not) the legislature did nothing.
I find it odd that with all the flame throwing at Wolf no one seems to notice the gutless republicans sitting on their hands in the Legislature

Oh added bonus.
Marc A. Scaringi ran a crowd funding so he could push his political stunt.
So at least he got paid.
Maybe that was his idea all along

Wolf is destroying many people he is not saving people this will all come out

Shhhhhh. You're not allowed to point out such things!

The Republicans are afraid to overrule Gov. Wolf because then they will own the carnage that follows. Wolf, though, had the balls to do something, knowing that the Bernie's of the world would savage him.

Could we hear from an firefighter who's still on the job?

Isn't in interesting the Governor's opponents continue to search for some activist judges who will strike down laws approved by the state, including the Supreme Court.

Shameful.

No, it's not a winner. Your side will lose, as it did in the state courts.

The Commonwealth could not have been expected to holds thousands, much less tens of thousands, of hearings on waivers. It was an emergency!

My side is the side that believes our freedom is even more valuable than toilet paper.

Wrap yourself in the flag all you want, but anyone can play that game. For example, my side is the side that believes that the lives of Americans should not be thoughtlessly wasted.

And yours still will lose, because IT'S AN EMERGENCY!

It's up to the Commonwealth to decide what its emergency statute means. The governor has acted, and that action has been reviewed by the state Supreme Court. The Republican legislature has declined to say otherwise.

It's over. Grow up and deal with it, people.

At this point, the Supreme Court hasn't even agreed to hear this case.

"Thank you, Gov. Wolf, for protecting us from the virus."

Thank you, Governor Wolf for the increased suicides, domestic abuse, substance abuse, collapsed state economy, and thousands of deaths resulting from an inability to get early detection screenings and maintain therapies. You protected us from the virus by killing thousands who didn't have to die. Again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Thank you, Gov. Wolf, for protecting us from people like 12:06.

I think we should amend the state constitution to allow you to run for a third term.
