I watched the Trump speech on C Span on January 6, 2021, and it sure didn't look or sound anything like this clip, produced my the finest technical production wizards the democrats could afford to hire. Recommend everyone watch the original, unedited clip on You Tube, posted by C Span and many others, before it is "cancelled".

This’s was a Cambridge born performance, your right about the left. Notice Jamie Raskin D-Md exaggerates the death count during the events. Malfeasance or he doesn’t know? Isn’t it true , that after Thump was elected on his Inaugural Ceremony there were riots in the streets then during demonstrators? So what’s changed?

And still that spineless Cruz and McConel vote no to bring him to trial, who do they represent?

The GOP must scrape Trump off or be destroyed by this leech. These people felt empowered by his lies. They permitted, and even invited by Trump to disrupt government. Trump kept lying to the American public while the mob was looking for representatives to kill at the Capitol. As a registered Republican I’m angered by these insurrectionists who did his bidding. This mob must face justice and so does their kingpin. Trump called on these people to interrupt the peaceful transfer of power long before Jan. 6. As he tweeter, “It will be wild.” I’m saddened to think that there is a generation of potential Republican leadership that is overshadowed by Trump’s antics. Enough! Scrape him off and get back to business. Can you imagine what might have happened if this armed mob had reached the House or Senate minutes earlier? I’m encouraged by Senator Cheyney, and even an outgoing Toomey grew a set. Republicans must get rid of this grifter and his family or face being the party of the mob forever.

I dont recall ever seeing videos of the beatings, looting, burning and general rioting in the cities of america in the last year on this blog.

I never voted for Trump. I despise both major parties. They enrich themselves by funding death, at home and abroad. But I certainly hope Trump's legal team plays videos of elected Democrats threatening harm and harassment on Republicans, which eventually led to the shooting of a sitting Republican Congressman by a Bernie Sanders supporter. Sen. Charles Schumer warned that Kavanaugh and Gorsuch were about to have something unleashed on them and wouldn't know what hit them. They're lifetime appointees in a co-equal branch of government. What could he possibly have meant? It so concerned Chief Justice John Roberts that he broke precedent to speak out against the threats by Schumer. It's hard to take this political theater seriously, when those prosecuting are guilty of worse offenses. The orange guy repulsed me. But even worse are Democrats who are still fixated because they're completely incompetent at anything else. Although we did go back to war footing in Syria in fewer than 48 hours into this administration. Dems have the war thing down pat.

All senate republicans who refused to look at at the video yesterday, suck!

As much as people hate Trump this video is hideous. If you watch the rest of the speech where he got cut off in this video he says We are going to march down to the Capitol and “Peacefully Protest”. And he says those exact words. And the fact the Capital was being stormed before the speech was over is another fact they aren’t telling you. This is so wrong to mislead the people with this sham video. Sad sad sad. This isn’t about Trump anymore it’s about everything in our lives they are misleading on.

@7:00: Typical ignorant re-direct response. What are you doing on March 4th?

"I watched the Trump speech on C Span on January 6, 2021, and it sure didn't look or sound anything like this clip,"

That's bc this clip included much moire. By the way, I watched the speech, too. It disgusted me.

"Sen. Charles Schumer warned that Kavanaugh and Gorsuch were about to have something unleashed on them and wouldn't know what hit them."

This is a reference to remarks made by Schumer last March. They were ugly. He was admonished on the floor of the Senate and apologized on the floor of the Senate. Had he unleashed a storm like Trump did, there is little doubt in my mind that he would have been sanctioned and prosecuted.

You don't excuse the President's incitement by saying the other side does it. That is no defense.

GOP supporters should read/reread the 653 post. It captures the situation in a rational manner. The anger of tRump was and is dangerous. While he critiques the process from afar, he refused to be part of it. I agree that Mitch and Cruz should take thevToomey route and get aboard the truth train

@5:41 & PeterjCochran - do you ever get tired of making excuses? Do you ever feel ashamed of being such a sycophant?

Those were Trump's lips moving and speaking those words - it isn't some deep fake. Saying that certain segments are being taken out of context - when literally the mob he's speaking to in the video then moves to the Capitol (on his instructions)and eventually invaded the building - that he should bear no responsibility in it? You are not living in reality.

Your whataboutism and trying to compare 1/6 to other protests that broke down to disgusting riots and acts of violence is pathetically weak.

Trump is a LOSER, who surrounded himself with losers (as evidenced by whatever those two dimiwitted defense attorneys displayed yesterday) and is supported by losers.

I don't really understand the logic and political calculus that most Republicans are using right now. I don't want to call it cowardice, but they seem paralyzed by their own self preservation instincts and don't know what to do. 40% no matter how you cut it, isn't a majority in a binary world.

Trump is going to be an anchor around their neck for the next few election cycles. The moderate and independent voters who put Trump into office in 2016 abandoned him in droves in 2020 because of how he governed over his 4 years in office. They won't drift back if they think voting Republican is supporting Trumpism.

This second impeachment is pure political theater - as was the first - and as was Clinton's, which now looks almost quaint in retrospect (he lied about getting a BJ - oh my!). Trump can and very well may run in 2024 assuming the expected script plays out as expected next couple weeks, but none of the voters who flipped from 2016 to 2020 are going to want him back (or an analog Trump like Hawley, Cotton or Cruz).

Republicans need to burn it all down, take their lumps over the next 8 years and better position themselves for 2028 election cycle. Running it back with MAGA is just going to prolong the losses.

Trump said to march peacefully to the Capitol. The timing of his speech and the attacks don't work. This is stupid politics. It's no wonder Congress is held in such low regard. In the mean time, we're distracted from the horrific vaccine rollout and nobody is asking how many doses were discarded in states like PA and NY. We deserve bad things when they happen to us.

The left is not a true citizen they are the enemy of the american people;

I'd like to see so much unleashed on the four lefty justices that those sad sacks won't know what hit them. I'd like to see them confronted at restaurants and supermarkets and gas stations, and told they're not welcome here. I'd like to see Schumer and his wife harrassed while going to temple.

These things were dismissed, if not called acceptable when threatened against Gorsuch, Kavanagh, Scalise, and McConnel and Elaine Chow. Bernie even offered a lame defense of confronting officials in some circumstances. The problem is encouraging these tactics at all without understanding their logical progression to incivility. And here we are. Nice job.

Just remember instead of passing legislation to help the American people get back to work and assist them in this environment they are to busy sitting there in their bubble crying and patting each other on the back like they are some sort of hero. We are almost a month in and Congress hasn't done anything to help the American people. Instead we have a President signing more EOs then any President in history. They are worried about 2024, they don't care about you today. Impeaching a private citizen for an office he doesn't hold because the American people voted him out. Yeah, this isn't pandering, gaslighting, or political theater at all. Both sides should be ashamed they haven't lost a dime during these trying times but they sure will make you the little person wait until their political play is over so they can pound their chest and pretend like they are some great citizen for wasting out time instead of getting to do their actual job which is legislate.

@10:12AM - So what if he said "March peacefully" - that's all he needed to say to excuse away what happened? He said a lot more in his speech that day that ran counter to that specific statement. You can't just pick and choose which words he said and pretend its some protective blanket against the other inflammatory comments he was making. It was an angry speech, filled with grievances, excuses and doom saying.

10:12, 10:14, 10:22 & 10:25 - None of you're distracting complaints have ANYTHING to do with Trump's attack on democracy that day and WHY he has been impeached.

This is insane. Am I to assume you'd all be fine if Obama whipped up the crowd into trying to overthrow the legislative body by attacking the congressional building back in 2016?

Am I further to presume you all are giving the green light to Biden to do and say whatever he wants and call it a day?

Certainly none of this comes close to being patriotic. Anyone who thinks this is something acceptable every four years needs their head examined. Either that or belong in a 3rd world country where this is the norm.

Isn't it so refreshing, though, not to hear one single syllable tweeted by that orange menace for the last month or more since the adults in the room took away his social media voice? Gotta love it!

SCOTUS justices and their families live under increased security since Schumer's statements. They are afraid for their lives. This isn't whataboutism. It's the current situation with these nine and their families, thanks to the Senate Majority Leader. The Senate Majority Leader! I want to enjoy footage of Schumer shaking and cowering behind guards on 1/6, the same way he's forced SCOTUS justices and their loved one to do every day. He deserves to enjoy the same terror he's wrought on others.

These people forced their way into our Capitol to stop the "stolen election". I just can't imagine where they came up with that idea of a "stolen election" and "widespread voter fraud"

Maybe they had some sort of leader? Or a central figure of sorts, that put that idea in their heads?

Unfortunately, we will never know.

Time to face the facts that the foundation of this party, my party has no integrity. As much as it will sting, it's time to tear down the house that we grew up in.

Anybody notice that the capitol, and other areas, are now fenced and protected like that guy's house down the way on Connecticut Avenue? Obama 2.0. You go, Joey!

Memories are short, but some save receipts. Dem lawyer Jamie Raskin objected to Florida's vote certification in 2017 and incited the violence that occurred on Trump's inauguration day in Washington. And he's prosecuting this? Lol.

I love that Biden's DC is an armed camp, and difficult to access. It's illustrative of the fact that only the chosen few high roller donors get access to Biden's DC. I hope the gates become higher and permanent. It certainly undermines Joe's argument about fences not working.

Ruh roh. Dems just moved the goalposts after their timeline tape fell to pieces under only mild scrutiny. Now, it's not the speech, but Trump's speeches over the months and years. It's time to roll the receipts and embarrass Congressional Dems until they stop this nonsense and attempt to pass legislation vs letting another executive sign orders in lieu of laws.

Still waiting to see where President Trump said "Invade the Capitol"

No matter which side we are on we will never know the facts. The reality is in the money and both sides pad their own and their associates bank accounts. If and only if when you take on a public office or do any business with the government your finances become a fully open book will it ever get resolved. Heck right in our small valley there are so many examples of this from the Criz to the lobbyist sleeping with (married to) people in power positions of the organizations they lobby to people dolling out govt money to receive key no show rolls or political solutions that pay them back. And we the mushrooms called the American public bicker stupidly over who and what. instead of asking a YES or NO questions. Heck many people positing on this blog defend idiots like Flynn who admittedly took money from Russia while he was a sitting general. Did he do it YES he did by his own admission but oh he did not mean too. Did Trump insight violence. YES he did whether he intended to or not. Does Pelosi pander to give money away YEs she does. Did Congressmen and Senators make money off of stocks because of the COVID crisis. YES they did. But we as American mushrooms encourage them and reward them for doing it. Until we stop idolizing idiots and thieves we are condemned to spiral down this path.

As a follow up to my last post Did Clinton screw around with classified information. YES she did and she should be punished as well.

wonder if trump's executive order still stands?
https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/trump-executive-order-protests-prosecution-1111452/

" “It is the policy of the United States to prosecute to the fullest extent permitted under Federal law,” the executive order reads, “any person or any entity that destroys, damages, vandalizes, or desecrates a monument, memorial, or statue within the United States or otherwise vandalizes government property.” (Editor’s note: emphasis added.)

The order also explicitly targets those who inspire such wanton destruction. “It is the policy of the United States to prosecute to the fullest extent permitted under Federal law,” it reads, “any person or any entity that participates in efforts to incite violence or other illegal activity in connection with the riots and acts of vandalism.”

We will never know the facts? That's the funniest comment yet. There's more video footage and personal accounts of every aspect of this than Carter's has little pills. Stop the jokes, you're killing me.

We have more guns than living humans in the US. An unarmed rush on the Capitol is a pretty lame "insurrection." It's the kind of hyperbole one would expect from a House Speaker who eats $14 ice cream bars from a $21,000 sub zero freezer while telling the great unwashed to be strong during quarantine. And debt-ridden Eric Swalwell gets investigated for banging a Chinese spy. But he's the white knight prosecutor. We're living in a Monty Python skit.

Anonymous said...

So when Trump is found not guilty, will the Dems continue to drive this media circus. Why are they letting a guy who is no longer in office dominate the media cycle? Then they will continue to try and push this 14th Amendment crap instead of passing meaningful legislation. Immigration reform, infrastructure, healthcare, COVID recovery. These things are vital to the American people. Guess what, it's this year or nothing because guess what next year is....and election year for some Senators and the WHOLE HOUSE. Do you honestly think anything is going to happen when they will be campaigning. No, wake up people you are allowing your government to be more worthless than the teachers in Chicago.

Anonymous said...

7:49 - That's some funny logic. So what type of outcome would we have seen if those at the capitol were armed? Ice cream and freezers! WTF. You could literally insert Donald, Ivanka, Donnie Jr. etc. in these claims and it would also work, mad lib style.
Oh well, only a fool would argue with an idiot.

Anonymous said...

Nice try, but the Trumps weren't flaunting $14 ice cream bars and $21K freezers while telling people to bear up under government imposed lockdowns. Your second sentence makes my point, by the way. I appreciate that.
