While in the basement, I learned that the public defender's office is moving to make way for a locker room and showers for the deputies.
The public defender's office will move to the first floor and take over the offices currently being used by the Department of Community and Economic Development.
This move makes sense. The new location, right by the law library and near Courtroom #1, will make it more accessible to indigent defendants who often get lost trying to find the office in the basement.
The Department of Community and Economic Development is reportedly moving to the Human Services building.
Turning Point may also be provided office space.

In the real world, hourlies punch clocks and salaries don't. What's so difficult to understand about this?
In the real world, hourlies do not punch clocks if their jobs require them to start or finish their day elsewhere. That is the fatal flaw here, and it will breed resentment among those who must punch clocks and provide fingerprint exemplars like common criminals. I could see it at the jail, Gracedale and even the Juvenile Justice Center, which currently has no timeclocks.It makes no sense at the courthouse or Human Services Building.

any and all public sector jobs would be in line to have random urine tests, this would be a conflict to having time clocks. The random urine test would show if the worker is truely on the job or somewere in outerspace flying on a cloud. This also should start at the top were this timeclock endevor was redd in a hightimes magazine while the human services service was being neglected for the read.
In order to buy Girl Scout cookies from Amy, will I have to punch out, pay for the cookies, and then punch back in? This whole time clock thing confuses me, I just want caramel delights.
If this had been done by Stoffa and Angle, O'Hare would be singing their praises non-stop.

No just try and dump Gracedale and lease a multi-million dollar monument.
Dumping Gracedale would have saved the county tens of millions of dollars. Stoffa tried to do the right thing long term for the county. And the HAS building, once bought out, will have cost the county $22 million. A good investment for a 66,000 SF building in a prime location. More than a "monument" to the thousands of count residents who benefit from HS services.
