Meet Wayne Grube

Though he's no relation, Wayne Grube (pictured above) is named in honor of the late, great Easton High School football coach and Northampton County Council member. Like his namesake, Wayne is very active in youth sports. He coaches for the Bethlehem Steelers, as well as North Central and Northwest Little League organizations.

Grube, along with fellow coaches Bob Hock and Mike Richline, spent Holy Saturday getting a baseball field behind the Steelers' complex ready for baseball. Sons Matthew Grube and Andrew Hock, both pitched in.

Guys like these deserve a lot of praise. Without them kids would spend ALL their time gaming and texting. The real shame is kids don't play sports, or even just outside, on their own just for fun anymore.

Still thanks again to these guys and all the others that coach, umpire and do all the dirty jobs so kids stay active.

I agree completely, Bill. Coach Grube is one of the selfless guys who spent 4 long afternoons every week during football season, working with the boys. I never spoke to him, not even once, during any of the three years he was involved in coaching Dat bc I see how some parents and grandparents just hound those guys. But I really appreciate what he and so many other adults do for these young men and women.

If the guy can waste millions of taxpayer dollars, we should name a park after him!
