LV LWV Voter Guide Contains Serious Error

(You can actually vote for two)
Twice a year, in advance of the primary and general election, the Lehigh Valley League of Women Voters produces a Voter Guide. The latest edition appeared in The Morning Call on October 24. It includes a serious error concerning Northampton County's judicial race.

Three candidates - Abe Kassis, John Morganelli and Vic Scomillio - are vying for one of two open seats. The guide (page 10) mistakenly instructs voters they can only select one of the candidates. Voters actually have two choices.

Although the League of Women Voters does a great service to the Lehigh Valley, I think the organization has an obligation to inform voters of their error, especially on their own website. I am unaware whether The Morning Call has noted and corrected this error. If it has not done so, now would be a good time to remind NorCo voters they can vote for two of the three candidates.

According to NorCo GOP Chair Lee Snover, several of the down-ballot Republicans received no questionnaires. My guess is this is also the case with several Democrats. "I don't think the League is dependable anymore," she states, and with some justification.

This year, the League failed to host a single candidates' night for county candidates. In fairness, this is a collection of volunteers.

Oh please, People like Gen Lee have been bashing the League for years. If you are not a rabid American Fascist she and her brethren consider you the enemy.

What a bozo.

That's not nice. She may be an extreme Trumpian right winger but she is no bozo. Bozo was an icon!

The league has been in decline for years because everybody has taken a side and there's no neutral anymore.

The league is a partisan organization, just like the morning call, you can deny it or cover for it, but it is no longer a credible non-partisan organization.

Did everyone forget in the last congressional election, when the league refused to make the video of the debate released for viewing on TV, then offered to release an edited copy. all in an attempt to cover Susan wild's slip of supporting open borders. Republicans should no longer expect fair treatment from this partisan organization. Any mistakes will probably be acknowledged after the election.

Local Republicans need to stop being sheep and refuse to cooperate with these partisans. This is not a time to rely on hope they will be fair, they will not, just expect it and act accordingly.

The League of women voters are WHAT? They are a League of Women. You couldn't belong to this organization unless you were a woman and it is only in recent years that you (as a male) were allowed to join the League. So c'mon and suck it up cupcakes and join the real world. Women will rule the world. They already elect more female candidates than men and they are on the move. So a publisher made an error. Hell even the state didn't know how they were going to handle the election after Judge McFadden resigned. Now Morganelli has an opponent. So through all the confusion the League made an error or he publisher made an error. Fix it and move on. The error has nothing to do with the issue of being a sicko Trump supporter or a whacko anti trump supporter.

Most of you have missed the point. The fact is they made a serious error and it needs to be corrected.

No, you miss the point.

The League has become a partisan organization and nobody gives them any credibility anyway.

Maybe it's a legitimate error, or maybe they see an advantage (to the candidates they support) in publishing what can be explained away as an innocent mistake (like not getting questionnaires to certain candidates).

Correct it, or don't correct it, it really doesn't matter. Many who saw the original guide will not see the correction (if it's even made).

And if you're looking to the League for non-partisan guidance on issues and candidates, you're looking in the wrong place. If the Morning Call is posting the League's Voting Guide, they should also be publishing the NRA's to balance things out.

The league is hosting a Country Council fourm TONIGHT at 6:30 in the council chambers. Only the District 3 candidates (Luke Verdes & John Cusick) will participate because Cusick was the only Republican who agreed to show up.

I'm sorry the Nurses did not treat your sores properly.

When you are obviously partisan and have lost your credibility, no one will accept the mistake excuse.

I do think the NorCo branch of LWV has betrayed partisanship by allowing Leslie Altieri, a Dem Committee member and perennial candidate, to be its Facebook presence. But I know that they make make mistakes that tend to hurt candidates on both sides. I think they should call and email each candidate before stating no response to a question. That info exists at the elections office. This is a point Lee Snover made yesterday, and I agree with her. The problem is there are very few volunteers.

Just the fact that they are called the league of WOMEN voters shows bias, what if we has a league of MEN voters.

About as much bias as alot of other organizations like NAACP, League of Women voters, AARP, USAA... all bigoted for a vision of our way or highway-
