"Blood on Trump's Hands"

Those are the words used by retired four-star Marine general John Allen in reaction to Donald "the Joker" Trump's betrayal of Syrian Kurds. Since Turkey has begun its offensive (laughingly called Peace Spring) against Kurdish fighters in Northeast Syria, the fake news reports the following:

The Kurds may turn to Assad and Russia for protection because the US (Trump) abandoned them to be slaughtered. Who can blame them? Erdogan is using militants to kill civilians and prisoners. He is also moving well beyond the 18 mile corridor he falsely claimed he wanted.
Trump is a fool who is making enemies out of former friends and has caused every one of our allies to rethink the trust they have in us.

The deal with Syria for military assistance has been set. Syrian troops are being deployed, at a far greater number than we took out of the region. The Kurds have already found replacement support.

Russia provides military support to BOTH Turkey and Syria. This now becomes Russia’s problem to sort out, not ours.

Other NATO countries in Europe want America to defeat Turkish expansion. They won’t even defend themselves. Yet, they refuse to pay the amount they promised to NATO for protection! Those nations will need to get more involved instead of using our military. Let the nations of the Middle East and nearby European nations sort this all out.

Defense Secretary, Mark Esper sums it all up clearly when he said "We didn't sign-up to fight the Turks."

I would ask, what were our troops supposed to do? Should we have stayed in Syria until the Kurds defeat the Turks? That would be ridiculous because it would never happen. Turkey has a massive power advantage over the tiny Kurdish rebels. By the way, the Kurds just got stronger as Syria has agreed to join in on their behalf.

Do those objecting to this decision really want America having deadly skirmishes against the Turks for the next 30-40 years? I don't.

You know, this is getting absurd. Trump is abandoning our allies and abusing the power of US diplomatic and military assets to further his political campaign and property deals. I've seen a bunch of rumblings about a new scandal that's about to break. Apparently his team pressured a US naval intelligence officer into spying on one of his rivals in a property deal in Malta. Just google "The USS Liberty Incident".

Drumpf is done.

Say what? A 1967 naval incident under the control of a Democrat White House? Need to hear more about this.

Why is America supposed to save the world? Exit the United Nations. Force NATO allies to pay their share, get out of endless, thousand year wars.
What have the democrats offered for the working people? More taxes to pay for those that don't work. How about a job in the military? Oh, that's for some one else to do!

Trump should have consulted with someone he hasn't fired instead of impulsively jumping on twitter right after a call from a fellow strongman. And if he really believed in stopping endless wars, he would never agree, as he just did, to send 1,800 troops to Saudi Arabia. He is a liar.

What's most disgusting about his decision is that our allies now have no reason to trust us. With one tweet, his criminal incompetence has jeopardized our own national security.

Bernie O'Hare said...

"I would ask, what were our troops supposed to do? Should we have stayed in Syria until the Kurds defeat the Turks?"

Yes, we should have stayed there. The American flag alone would have prevented the Turks from attacking. In the meantime, a plan was in place to resolve Turkey's security concerns with joint patrols.

Despite this decision, Bernie, we still need forward airbases and staging grounds in the Mideast. Maybe that's the Saudi role?

Bernie O'Hare said...

"Russia provides military support to BOTH Turkey and Syria. This now becomes Russia’s problem to sort out, not ours."

In other words, in addition to betraying an ally, Trump has tipped the balance of power in that region toward his pal, Putin.

Talk about treason.

Bernie O'Hare said...

"Despite this decision, Bernie, we still need forward airbases and staging grounds in the Mideast. Maybe that's the Saudi role?"

It is completely inconsistent with what your savior has said he wants to do. If he are isolationist, we need no forward airbases. We have Israel and can rely on our carriers. Trump is a hypocrite and you are a fool who attempts to justify every lie he utters.

Indeed the situation in the Middle East is very muddled. Being we have seen so many twists and turns and new intervention into the struggle at various times … That reminds me of the 30 year War with its various Phases and Interventions and strange alliances....The Thirty Years' War was a war fought primarily in Central Europe between 1618 and 1648. One of the most destructive conflicts in human history, it resulted in eight million fatalities not only from military engagements but also from violence, famine, and plague. Casualties were overwhelmingly and disproportionately inhabitants of the Holy Roman Empire, most of the rest being battle deaths from various foreign armies. The deadly clashes ravaged Europe; 20 percent of the total population of Germany died during the conflict and there were losses up to 50 percent in a corridor between Pomerania and the Black Forest. In terms of proportional German casualties and destruction, it was surpassed only by the period of January to May 1945 during World War II; one of its enduring results was 19th-century Pan-Germanism, when it served as an example of the dangers of a divided Germany and became a key justification for the 1871 creation of the German Empire.

Given that Cardinal Richelieu of France was a key figure in the twists and turns of the 30 year War, what would he do in this situation we face with the endless wars in the Middle East including Syria? And What would former U.S. President Gerald Ford do in this situation? Ford if your remember had to deal with American pull-out from Vietnam after Nixon's so-called agreements with North Vietnam to end our active involvement in that war … Indeed there we bombed North Vietnam to the peace table and made an agreement that allowed North Vietnam to rebuild but Congress failed to supply the money to keep the South Vietnamese armed should North Vietnam and their Allies in Vietnam resume attack … In Vietnam the American Army in battle made it possible for us to declare victory but actions of our politicos caused us to suffer the embarrassment of our abandonment of our embassy and bringing a lot of the Vietnamese who helped us home with us … I suspect that Trump will not do this for the Kurds that did help us in the battle … But I am reminded that Glenn Beck maintains that these Kurds are not really pro-democracy like the Kurds in Iraq … But interesting these guys and gals enlisted by the Obama administration to help that Administration in the battle were anti-Assad now with Trump's pull-out and the Turkey invasion they turned to the same regime they opposed and battle before American entered the fray.

As I said in the beginning, indeed the situation in the Middle East is very muddled. Being we have seen so many twists and turns and new intervention into the struggle at various times

If he does, then why send troops to Saudi Arabia, as he just did? Your explanation is complete horseshit and demonstrates nothing more than blind devotion to a reality tv show star.

A total nightmare.

Unfortunately, Trump again tries to oversimplify the issue at hand. This puts the issue into a pill form easily digestible by his supporters though! Alas, I fear this pill is only a slow release suppository.

Anonymous said...

I would ask, what were our troops supposed to do?

Simple. What we've been doing for the last 80 years: "Turkey, if you're listening, you fuck with the Kurds, you fuck with us." End of story.

But no, chickenshit Trump totally capitulated to Erdogan like a bitch.

Anonymous said...

"If he does, then why send troops to Saudi Arabia, as he just did? "

Because Saudi Arabia is of strategic importance to the US and the Global Economy as an oil producer.

I agree with you though, i wish he would cut off all aid (financial/military) to all of these middle east regimes.

I thought Drumpf said we are energy independent, 9:17?

I love how Dennis P tries to make Trump foreign policy anything less than a monkey flinging feces. Trump has no idea what he's doing and gets operated by every other leader in the world.

Anonymous said...

@9.21 We are. You can thank Obama for starting this and Trump for continuing the expansion of US Oil Production.

However, the rest of the economy is not and if there is a drop in worldwide oil production, it affects the economies of other countries which will affect us.

Like i said though, i think we should pull completely out of the mid east

Anonymous said...

So we're fighting FOR the Kingdom so other countries can buy their oil so that we can trade with this countries? Makes sense.

Anonymous said...

And i agree with you, hence the reason i have stated twice we should not even be there. I do not think Trump was wrong for pulling out of Syria, but he was wrong for sending troops to Saudi Arabia.

Time for somebody else to be world cop for the globalists.

Anonymous said...

Pulling out of Syria is not the issue. Giving Erdogan the green light to eradicate the Kurds is the problem.

(Newsflash: There is no one else in the world with the power to protect human rights.)

Anonymous said...

Newsflash, 9:59 - The Kurds are welcome to retreat back, further into Syria under Syria's protection. The entire situation over there is now too muddled for anyone to figure out. There all all kinds of Kurdish tribes, good and bad. Do you know which groups are which?

Anonymous said...

And the Ukrainians are welcome to fall back from eastern Ukraine and let Russia have it.

Anonymous said...

Congress has the power to declare war, why dont they just declare war on Turkey? They better re institute the draft at the same time. No deferments this time.

Anonymous said...

So, lets put out the call for a volunteer army to go fight for a Kurdish homeland, I will volunteer an ammo contribution, the rest of you should volunteer your selves, sons, daughters and grandchildren.

Anonymous said...

They would not have had to if Trump didn't fuck up yet again. But like always, the Democratic administration will have to clean up the mess.

Anonymous said...

So, lets put out the call for a volunteer army to go fight for a Kurdish homeland, I will volunteer an ammo contribution, the rest of you should volunteer your selves, sons, daughters and grandchildren.

The Kurds were doing fine on their own until Trump stabbed them in the back. Like BOH said, just the presence of the USA flag would have been enough. Trump green lighted Erdogan. Don't try and spin this any other way.

Anonymous said...

When did the Dems become so hawkish? Probably because Trump is for de-escalating the constant wars. If this was a democratic president, i am sure everybody would be for this. Dems want to cut military spending, this is how you do it, by ending the constant occupation of foreign countries.

And spare me the human rights analogy. That whole area is ungovernable. Do women have equal rights now? Are Gays treated as 1st class citizens and not ostracized? All we do is pour blood and money down the drain there and we are a band-aid on a gunshot wound. Let the EU step in and protect the human rights.

Maybe its because i am getting older and i see my son getting older, i just do not see the worth of nation building anymore when we should be nation building right here.

Why are we building roads and schools there when we can be subsidizing our own here?

Trumps foreign policy is a mess because as Bernie points out, he downsizes in one area and then builds up in another. He is right on syria and wrong on saudi arabia

The pacifist Trump fans are rich.

On one hand, they praise Trump for pulling a small number of troops from Syria (which isn't the issue) but then green lighting Erdogan. On the other, they are all for Trump sending 2000 troops to fight for the Kingdom.

Good times. They are so confused.

Israel is our allies and officially annex 40 miles of the south western border of Syria.
Turkey is our allies and will take 40 miles of the northern border of Syria.
Kurds are our allies and are required like Israel and Turkey to take and make a Kurdistan from seriously weaken greater Syria.

The whole reason the kurds are filling the news cycle at this time is to provide a smoke screen to our invasion of Saudi Arabia.

Troops are not being brought home they redeployed to Saudi Arabia.

Has anyone heard even a peep about the Saudi deployment?

Kurds- Trump bad
Saudi Arabia- Trump good...so don't mention it.

Anonymous 9:30 AM

In my comment I neither supported or condemned Trump's comments in his decision making in regard to Syria. But what occurred in Syria is result of the Arab Spring which started with the overthrow of Gaddafi in Libya ,it continued to Egypt and extended to Syria with the establishment of the so-called pro-democracy army in Syria which the Kurds were associated with … This Arab Spring operation in Syria started with the attempt of the rebels to overthrow Assad. The Russians came in and backed Assad, Obama warned Russians not to cross the his red line and backed down … Eventually he brought in U.S. troops with his leading from the back approach... While this was going on ISSIS took over large portions of Iraq and Syria to form its califate.. The Kurds, U.S. and Iraq worked hard to shut the califate down. And in course, in Europe while this was going on Russia took over portions of Ukraine drawing Obama's ire and sanctions.. Now it is said with Turkey's attack many IS militants have escaped from their detainment causing more fears. Of course, prisoners of War when peace comes are normally let go to return to their respective countries … But the situation is muddled here... Yes the US is said to be going but we go without peace or as Nixon would say peace with honor... Yes indeed it is a middle situation and the Turkish incursion muddies it up more … Previous to Trump's so-called green light the US and Turkey where arguing about them buying Russian military equipment … On May 8, 1972, President Nixon made a major concession to North Vietnam by announcing that the U.S. would accept a cease-fire in place as a precondition for its military withdrawal. Within a year he was fighting to retain power because of Watergate... Trump first announced his intention to withdraw U.S. troops from Syria in 2018. Amid a backlash, he later agreed to keep a residual American presence there. Trump's announced withdrawal from Syria in late 2018 also led to the resignation of then-Defense Secretary Jim Mattis. This October he made the decision to complete withdrawal and allow the Turks to allegedly create a butter between them and their s0-called enemies which the Kurds are reported to be. Trump as we all know is facing serious public relations problems with the Democratic House which is reviewing whether to impeach him or not. History is repeating … The situation in Syria and the Middle east remains muddied... And I admit, many do not understand what Trump is doing whether it is good or bad for the world or even for the US.. But it is obvious to me that Donald Trumps would love to be President during the time America traded with the world but refrained from making entangled military alliances with other nations and sub-nations... But that doesn't answer the question why he is transferring more troops to be transferred to Saudi Arabia … And I'm sure we must not forget that Mikhail Gorbachev, former Chairman of the Communist Party and President of the former Soviet would like America to pull back its troops and end military base agreements worldwide. After the fall of the former Soviet Union and the fall of the Berlin Wall .. Some would call that the peace benefit … But then came Traq's incursion into Kuwait and later came 9-11 .. What I said is not exactly an executive memo but I said what I had to say.

"Russia provides military support to BOTH Turkey and Syria. This now becomes Russia’s problem to sort out, not ours."

Since you brought it up, that's another one on Trump. Turkey purchased the S-400 anti-missile system from Russia, which is not allowed under the agreement with NATO.

Sanctions on Turkey were supposed to be imposed for making the purchase, but Trump hasn't pulled the trigger on those sanctions. Erdogan and Putin recognize Trump is a pussy.

Makes me wonder when the third Trump Tower will break ground in Turkey.

There are about 25 million people who call themselves Kurdish. They occupy areas over 5 Middle Eastern countries, including Turkey! Which tribes should we support? Go ahead, tell us. Or maybe we should send our Troops in harm's way to protect Syria's borders?

Much of this discussion is being fueled by Trump hatred. Nothing more.

Anonymous said...

Maybe , we could solve everyone's problem, if we just had the 4 mil Syrian refugees in turkey come here, and also all the Kurds who want to come. and maybe shut down Israel as a nation and just bring them all over here, then we would have peace in the middle east.

Anonymous said...

Lots of critics as usual, no solutions as usual, as far fear of the flag, that is long gone after 20 years of presence in the middle east and near 70 years of being a policeman rather than real threat. In WW2, the last real war, there were winners and losers, civilian populations were not considered by anyone. then there was real peace, after total destruction. Unless you are ready to act that way, there will never be peace. We could wipe out Turkey and Iran tomorrow morning, but we don't have the guts for it. Until you all do, just shut up.
