Jones Refuses To Let Public Speak

According to the official tally, Dennis Jones has lost his bid for a spot on the ballot as a Republican candidate for Upper Mount Bethel Board of Supervisors. He's a lame duck, and demonstrated just how lame that is at Monday night's meeting of the Board. Though the agenda provided for public comment, he adjourned without recognizing Ron Angle and Ray Hartzell, both of whom had their hands up.

"Tough luck!" he told them.

Little Ronnie's grandstanding tendencies shouldn't be indulged, when Steve Barron cleans his clock in Nov. the lonely old miser will go back to counting his money and subsidizing your journalism.

Jones sounds like a Dick, not a Dennis.

@12:03 You're not supposed to be posting here - have you forgotten? From the looks of the Court Order posted today, you have a brief to be working on for your mother in preparation for having your clock cleaned. Put some yummy cocoa on the stove - it's going to be a long night. I'm going to bed, so I can wake up to some eggs and smoked bacon. Yum! Have a great night, loser.

2:04 aka Kelly "Gavel" Gross enjoy the Nov election, the borough is unshackled from your tyranny hope daddy has a new gig lined up for you.

Why not? County Council decided who I can vote for, Mr. Jones decided who I have to listen to. Seems fair.

Mezzacappa has been peppering this blog with comments the past day, anonymously. She must be getting nervous about her hearing on Friday, which she is going to lose. Also, her mother's attempt to have the federal lawsuit dismissed was denied yesterday. Instead of taunting someone with your usual vitriol, you better start making arrangements to move back to Jersey once you are released from jail.

2:04AM You're guessing skills suck. I'm not Kelly, I'm not Bernie. Nor any of victims on your hate list. I'm your worst nightmare. Enjoy your hangover from caffeine and vodka.

@3:16AM, that is.

@10:50 Do you have any idea how a town meeting works? There is a public comment period. The chairman has the power of directing the meeting from agenda item to agenda item, but not to pass over an permanent agenda item like the public comment period. The chairman is Jones. He reportedly willfully ignored respectful residents patiently waiting with their hands raised, who wished to speak. Then he cheerfully pointed out he had ignored them. I've never seen behavior like that at a town meeting. I've seen other disgraceful behavior - but not this particular brand.

I asked a Supervisor today and he said they had public comment period and Ron Angle did speak and there was public comment. The board had a motion to adjourn and second and they adjourned the meeting. According to the Supervisor I spoke with he said that the meeting was over.

Bernard..... your comments "respectful residents" "patiently waiting" "cheerfully" referring to the choir boy Ron Angle? Seriously? Ron Angle can turn a mass at the Vatican into total bedloom and chaos! Your shoveling it on thick here....everyone that has ever been to a Township meeting with Ron knows that "respectful, patient and cheerful are not even with 20 air miles from the township meeting.

@11:37am Those were my comments. Bernie doesn't post anon.

@11:19am If that is the case, my apologies for assuming what happened. I have seen that - a person wants to add something at the end of a meeting, after having spoken earlier during the public comment period. There is no requirement to allow that, and often supervisors will not. That is the chair's call.

My understanding is that Jones simply ignored the final item on the agenda, I.e., the public's right to speak. There's a reason he wasn't elected.

It's good when parties throw out their own garbage. He should quack off into the sunset early.

Public comment should take place at the start and end of any public meeting. Otherwise you are curbing the public's right to speak. There ought to be a law..
