November 7, 2006, 8:00 P.M. Washington, D.C. – (1-866-MyVote1) The Election Hotline has been monitoring voter calls and recording and coding voter complaints and problems experienced at the polls.
Due to problems experienced at polling locations across the country, several counties are already extending the hours the polls will be open. Voting hours have been extended in the following counties in seven states:
Delaware County, Indiana*
De Kalb County* and Clayton County, Georgia
Lebanon County* and Lancaster County*, Pennsylvania
Lancaster County, South Carolina
Durham County, North Carolina
Cook County, Illinois*
Cuyahoga County, Ohio*
*MyVote1 has captured audio complaint files of machine problems in each of these counties, for transcription only. Television embargo until 12:01AM November 8, 2006.
In addition, a motion was filed in Denver County by the State Democratic Party to extend voting hours as a result of long lines and mechanical problems. A Colorado judge denied the request.
