DC Metro Seeks Your Help Identifying Insurrectionists

Although Capital Police practically ushered in the insurrectionists at the Capital yesterday, DC Metro has been active. On Wednesday night, they arrested and processed 736 individuals for curfew violations, riot-related burglary, and other riot-related events. Of these, 26 were juveniles. More importantly, they are seeking the public's help in identifying persons of interest who engaged in the failed coup attempt. You can see some of the persons they are looking for here.

If you see someone you know, you can contact DC Metro at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. There's a reward of up to $1,000 for infdormation leading to the arrest of those involve.

Here's someone I recognize:

His words incited the very mob violence he now hypocritically condemns ...  after the damage is done.

According to the Northampton County GOP Facebook page, several buses of Lehigh Valley residents descended on the capital on Wednesday. You may recognize someone. Party boss Lee Snover was there, and claimed she had as much right to be on the floors of Congress as VP Mike Pence. If she went past the barriers, she should be prosecuted.

Yes, Trump should be out via the 25th Amendment...he is not fit mentally to hold office. Add Cruz and Hawley as Senators to be ousted for trying to negate a lawful election. All other Republicans who enabled Trump should lose their next election. Hold these people accountable or this will happen again.

If anyone sees an old woman wearing a Constable shirt tell DC Metro they can pick her up at the Northampton Courthouse on February 1st.

They should all be charged with insurrection. Every one. No exceptions. But something's fishy.

*Maybe* some of the people on Wednesday just simply got caught up in the moment and did things they ordinarily wouldn't do - thats exactly what happens in riots. That doesn't excuse what they did and there will be consequences for some of them. I've already read a lot of stories about individuals who were shown on TV have been fired from their jobs.

More concerning is that there were individuals amongst that crowd inside the Capitol clearly carrying zip tie hand cuffs and sporting para-military gear.

This summer we saw a group of overweight to obese men from Michigan arrested for planning to kidnap their Governor.

There was certainly enough online chatter about these "plans" that there is no doubt that had some of these people actually entered the room where Congress was being held we may have been unfortunate witnesses to some much more horrifying scenes on our televisions that day.

I pray that the FBI and the American justice system comes down on these people with a vengeance.

I hope someone finds a picture of her beyond the barriers. Please find it and get rid of this sore on the NORCO Republican Party

Every person who crossed the barriers should be charged. But those who peacefully demonstrated are exercising core political speech.

The person who needs to be prosecuted is Donald Trump. Forget impeachment or the 25th amendment. No time for that and his own cabinet is not going to remove him. But once he leaves office, he should be prosecuted for his role in inciting a mob to engage in violence against the Congress of the United States. He's guilty as hell and a DC jury would convict him in a heartbeat.

Yeah the 25th would likely never work - his mental state is certainly debatable, but the 25th was designed for more clear cut situations where the President is alive, but non-responsive. Technically, yes the VP and cabinet can look at a situation and say he's a threat to himself and thru that the country, but it is completely open to so many interpretations is just becomes a legal morass, especially with 2 weeks to go. A plus is that with it being openly discussed that it might give Trump some amount of pause.

Keep hearing impeachment being mentioned again, not sure again if they can do anything is such a short period of time. Probably best to just wait it out over next week and a half.

A good CEO self scouts and knows and acknowledges his/her weaknesses and blind spots then puts measures in place counter them. Trump for some reason surrounded himself with family and advisors that either could not or would not challenge his decisions that have led him to this place in history. He and they will pay a price for it. Trump will be convicted of a felony somehow and somewhere that will disqualify him from running in 2024.

I so agree with you, Bernie. I used to live in DC 40 years ago. The Capitol Building was always inspiring, the architecture and the business of government was inspiring. I used to visit the building often but those were different days. The Capitol had extended visiting hours in the summer and watching the sun set on the west portico made me feel fortunate to be an American. This disrespectfully mob made me feel sick. They deliberately trashed offices that serve the people and Trump and his family sent them there. 25th now. Get rid of the Trump family grifters. GOP dump them now or you will be saddled with their unlawful actions for years to come. They have destroyed the GOP. It sickens me that while this is going on the Trumps are still making money on their hotel in the old Post Office building that the US government still owns.

Trump unleashed these animals on the Capitol Building. Trump should be held accountable to pay for the damages he incited. Resign or 25th.

Pence should resign, making Pelosi VP. Watching Trump’s head explode would be the sun rising on this dark time.

Dennis P said...

If Pence resigns the office of Vice President becomes vacant until Kamala Harris is sworn in Vice President .... The Constitution says in the case of a vacancy in the VP the President shall appoint a new VP and the appointment be ratified by the Senate ... Too little time to deal with that ... If VP resigns Pelosi can succeed the President and be sworn in President for a term ending January 20, 2021 should Trump be removed ... But if that happens Biden's Inauguration programs will become a collector's items .. Because the incoming President won't be the 46th President but the 47th unless Pelosi be classified as an Acting President or the 2nd American Prime Minister ... President Ford never having been elected President or VP by the electoral college being becoming the 1st American President - Prime Minister upon Richard Nixon's resignation ... Gerald Ford becoming Vice President when ratified by the Senate after his appointment by Nixon when Sprio Agnew resigned over a tax problem ,,, When Ford became President he appointed NY Governor Nelso Rockefeller as VP

Do you think this latest insurrection and the local republican participation may dampen republican success in local elections this year?

Anonymous said...

Hi Dennis,
Thanks for the history lesson and very interesting read, especially the prime minister part. I was being flippant, but appreciate the time you took to respond.

I always thought Martin Luther King was an asshole for saying, "A riot is the language of the unheard."

The right perfects what the left introduces. The right will throw better riots than the ones conducted and condoned by the left last year. This is going to continue to devolve on both sides. Half the country doesn't disagree with the other half. Half the country viscerally hates the other half and wants it to suffer. Your comments over several months and the responses they've generated are indicative of this. We really are a banana republic and our forefathers fought for nothing. This doesn't end well for any of us.

I think the many moderate Republicans will be doing alot of soul searching and reappraisal of their decision making abilities over the next two years. They got suckered by a charlatan who tried to shred the constitution. That has to hurt, knowing you were played for a fool.
I do believe that most Republicans didn't buy into everything Trump was selling or his heartless policies, but they bought into the lies of Dems are communists, Dems hate America, and Dems are evil.
Trump was a pro at playing on people's fears, spouting empty promises, and using smoke and mirrors for distraction.
I think it will make the moderates more willing to expand their knowledge of candidates beyond their mainstay of the FOX propagandists.

I am a college-educated female democrat who voted for Trump. While I am beyond humiliated by what happened on Wednesday, I was not “suckered” in any way shape or form. I appreciated Trump’s approach to China, a country we don’t see (or are afraid to see) as America’s biggest threat, his willingness to make the UN member nations pay their fair share, Supreme Court choices — thoughtful, intelligent jurists. Don’t for one minute think that the Democrats aren’t partially to blame for the boiling pot that finally spilled over. When, hours after Trump
was elected, Pelosi and other democratic legislators began their assault with soundbites of investigations and refusal of cooperation, that is going to alienate even the easiest going person. Add to that, the media that fanned the flames of discord and did its best to focus only on the negative, there will be a circling of the wagons. Fortunately, I’m a moderate and I do look at things objectively, but Trump definitely wasn’t given a grace period and was forced to come out swinging.

7:32, Though my comments policy prohibits tribal comments like yours, I'm publishing it to make a response. What happened was no riot. It was an failed coup. So much for your perfection.

Bernie O'Hare said...

8:31, Trump got no grace period bc he antagonized everyone, and long before he was elected. He is a con man, a bully, divisive, vulgar, isolationist and has no sense of loyalty to anyone. Ask Mike Pence. His ideology, to the extent he has one, reminds me of the Know-Nothing party that existed before the Civil War. If you are a moderate DemocraT, as you claim, you'd be appalled at his judicial selections. I do not refer to the sUPREME cOURT picks, but District Court judges who were rated unqualified and had no experience as lawyers. I doubt you look at things objectively at all. I also doubt you are a Democrat. Not even close. I am a moderate Democrat, and we detest him. Was he treated unfairly? Yes, but that's only because he treated others unfairly as well. You reap what you sow.

Bernie,
Would you like to see my voter registration card? My voting record to show I have voted for both D/R in every primary election? Calling me a liar (“I doubt you look at things objectively at all.”) reminds me of a president who called those who disagreed with him liars. As for the lower courts, you are right, I’m not well-educated on those choices, but not because I turn a blind eye, but because I never saw it reported (and, unlike you, I am not a lawyer and privy to publications that may report on such). I appreciate the job you do, but you periodically disrespect me and others in your responses, while at the same time arguing against such behavior by Trump. (And please don’t use the tired argument, lBut he is the president...”)

Bernie O'Hare said...

Yeah, I would like to see your voter registration card bc I am sure you’re a liar. You won’t send it to me (bohare5948@aol.com) bc it would prove you’re a liar.

I’d like to know how you vote for Democrats and Republicans in a primary. That’s some trick.

A police officer was killed in the line of duty not just protecting a building but the members of the US Congress assembled to do their Constitutional duty from a group of zealots determined to kill and/or do bodily harm in an attempted coup. Other officers were seriously injured and there were citizens who were seriously injured. The law enforcement agents, FBI, Metro Police, Capital Hill Police, ATF, and any other lawful authorities are not going to rest until they have identified everyone possible to arrest, charge and indict for the Homicide of a Federal Officer. The US Attorney and the D.C. District attorney will split up the accused according to federal offenses and city offenses and will exercise prosecutorial discretion of who, and how many, will be charged with the Homicide of a Federal Officer. The more serious Federal charges to be determined also could include Title 18 US Code sections 2384, Seditious Conspiracy, and 2385 Advocating overthrow of Government; both carry a prison term of 20 years and fines. The 120+ Republican members of the House and the 7 Republican members of Senate who voted after 8:00 PM professing support of Trump's coup by objecting to the electoral Count could also be facing the same charges. At the very least the lawyers in the congress who supported Trump's attempted coup, should face disbarment. E mails, voice mails, and video communications on any device among the accused, could lure other "innocent" actors who may be drawn into a widely cast net as part of the conspiracy. I spent 81/2 years in D.C. in the 1980's as a special consultant to a Special Prosecutor and I can assure you that those Feds don't fool around, especially when one of their own is killed. Those people have no idea what they, their families, friends co-workers and employers are going to face when the FBI or other law enforcement officials begin their investigations and come knocking on all of their doors.

12.23, so now it is a crime to legally object, part of senate rules. I assume you believe they should be hung, and would be happy if the police in a tough job, would of mowed everyone down with machine guns. Of course you are a moderate who wants reconciliation.

Hi Bernie,
Is the information stated by Karl Fluck true? I do not know since I do not have a law degree?

Anonymous said...

@ 9:33 AM

Can we hold the monies Trump’s election defense fund collected for the damages caused by the insurrection? This is all the GOP cares about and it’s time to make them pay for all this bullshit!

Anonymous said...

Wondering if any or how many local Lehigh Valley police officers/officials attended the insurrection? As reported, many law enforcement officers were identifying themselves to gain access in an attempt to overthrow the United States government.

Bernie O'Hare said...

"Is the information stated by Karl Fluck true? I do not know since I do not have a law degree?"

Karl correctly referenced some of the applicable law. I do not believe that members of Congress who objected to the electoral votes acted unlawfully. But those who encouraged the mob, like Sen. Josh Hawley, merit some scrutiny.

@8:31/10:34 - Why do you even consider yourself a Democrat at this point? Where do you get your news/information from?

Your reasons for supporting Trump leads with China? I agree they are a global competitor for resources and influence that we should be counterbalancing. Dumb, petty trade wars directed at them isn't exactly the most nuanced approach, but OK, we'll let that part slide. Arguably, more diplomacy and foreign investment in other areas of the globe to cultivate influence might yield better fruit in terms of stemming their influence.

The United Nations - Similar to your China issue, you can't sit at the high stakes table but expect other countries to bankroll you for it. So if you are fine with the US ceding power and influence on global events and initiatives, such as global trade, environmental and humanitarian concerns then fine, let the US step back and be a passenger on the bus and not the one driving it. Similarly with NATO, we can't expect to be presumed leaders of the world if we don't set the example first. If me, you & Bernie all agree to go out to dinner and split the bill 3 ways, should I order for all 3 of us no questions asked?

Supreme Court - Leave alone the McConnell screw job on Obama/Garland, none of the 3 Trump SCOTUS picks are remotely Democrat friendly jurists.

Blame Game Politics - each side has done it with increasing expertise and denying that reality is just admitting a personal bias. Politics is a rough game. Feeling sorry for those that play it doesn't help. Nobody forced Trump to run for President. He won the Electoral College vote and became President, but ignored the reality of losing the popular vote. With that, he could/should have governed more from the middle ground, but leaned heavily into areas that pleased his Republican base and genuinely seemed surprised that Democrats weren't on board with what he was doing. From there, he did as Trump has always done. Doubled down again and again. It lost him the House, the Senate and ultimately his Presidency.
