Where do you get your news/information from?

Your reasons for supporting Trump leads with China? I agree they are a global competitor for resources and influence that we should be counterbalancing. Dumb, petty trade wars directed at them isn't exactly the most nuanced approach, but OK, we'll let that part slide. Arguably, more diplomacy and foreign investment in other areas of the globe to cultivate influence might yield better fruit in terms of stemming their influence.

The United Nations - Similar to your China issue, you can't sit at the high stakes table but expect other countries to bankroll you for it. So if you are fine with the US ceding power and influence on global events and initiatives, such as global trade, environmental and humanitarian concerns then fine, let the US step back and be a passenger on the bus and not the one driving it. Similarly with NATO, we can't expect to be presumed leaders of the world if we don't set the example first. If me, you & Bernie all agree to go out to dinner and split the bill 3 ways, should I order for all 3 of us no questions asked?

Supreme Court - Leave alone the McConnell screw job on Obama/Garland, none of the 3 Trump SCOTUS picks are remotely Democrat friendly jurists.

Blame Game Politics - each side has done it with increasing expertise and denying that reality is just admitting a personal bias. Politics is a rough game. Feeling sorry for those that play it doesn't help. Nobody forced Trump to run for President. He won the Electoral College vote and became President, but ignored the reality of losing the popular vote. With that, he could/should have governed more from the middle ground, but leaned heavily into areas that pleased his Republican base and genuinely seemed surprised that Democrats weren't on board with what he was doing. From there, he did as Trump has always done. Doubled down again and again. It lost him the House, the Senate and ultimately his Presidency.
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9299655.post-39312303055359325422021-01-10T21:37:59.447-05:002021-01-10T21:37:59.447-05:00Had to have been some locals involved and they nee...Had to have been some locals involved and they need to be weeded out!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9299655.post-75030858183101293882021-01-10T19:37:42.543-05:002021-01-10T19:37:42.543-05:00Please do not suggest certain people unless (1) yo...Please do not suggest certain people unless (1) you know they were there and (2) they participated in the breach.Bernie O'Harehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13756311150988957401noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9299655.post-46206501584422654402021-01-10T12:28:04.543-05:002021-01-10T12:28:04.543-05:00I have been contacted by 10:34 and believe this re...I have been contacted by 10:34 and believe this reader was being honest. Other officers were seriously injured and there were citizens who were seriously injured. The law enforcement agents, FBI, Metro Police, Capital Hill Police, ATF, and any other lawful authorities are not going to rest until they have identified everyone possible to arrest, charge and indict for the Homicide of a Federal Officer. The US Attorney and the D.C. District attorney will split up the accused according to federal offenses and city offenses and will exercise prosecutorial discretion of who, and how many, will be charged with the Homicide of a Federal Officer. The more serious Federal charges to be determined also could include Title 18 US Code sections 2384, Seditious Conspiracy, and 2385 Advocating overthrow of Government; both carry a prison term of 20 years and fines. The 120+ Republican members of the House and the 7 Republican members of Senate who voted after 8:00 PM professing support of Trump's coup by objecting to the electoral Count could also be facing the same charges. At the very least the lawyers in the congress who supported Trump's attempted coup, should face disbarment. E mails, voice mails, and video communications on any device among the accused, could lure other "innocent" actors who may be drawn into a widely cast net as part of the conspiracy. I spent 81/2 years in D.C. in the 1980's as a special consultant to a Special Prosecutor and I can assure you that those Feds don't fool around, especially when one of their own is killed. Those people have no idea what they, their families, friends co-workers and employers are going to face when the FBI or other law enforcement officials begin their investigations and come knocking on all of their doors.Karl Fluckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11947261325750105560noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9299655.post-81505079697763171432021-01-08T23:15:25.573-05:002021-01-08T23:15:25.573-05:00I’d like to know how you vote for Democrats and Re...I’d like to know how you vote for Democrats and Republicans in a primary. Calling me a liar (“I doubt you look at things objectively at all.”) reminds me of a president who called those who disagreed with him liars. As for the lower courts, you are right, I’m not well-educated on those choices, but not because I turn a blind eye, but because I never saw it reported (and, unlike you, I am not a lawyer and privy to publications that may report on such). While I am beyond humiliated by what happened on Wednesday, I was not “suckered” in any way shape or form. I appreciated Trump’s approach to China, a country we don’t see (or are afraid to see) as America’s biggest threat, his willingness to make the UN member nations pay their fair share, Supreme Court choices — thoughtful, intelligent jurists. Don’t for one minute think that the Democrats aren’t partially to blame for the boiling pot that finally spilled over. When, hours after Trump
was elected, Pelosi and other democratic legislators began their assault with soundbites of investigations and refusal of cooperation, that is going to alienate even the easiest going person. Add to that, the media that fanned the flames of discord and did its best to focus only on the negative, there will be a circling of the wagons. Fortunately, I’m a moderate and I do look at things objectively, but Trump definitely wasn’t given a grace period and was forced to come out swinging.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9299655.post-80890382141119759462021-01-08T19:37:09.221-05:002021-01-08T19:37:09.221-05:00Do you think this latest insurrection and the loca...Do you think this latest insurrection and the local republican participation may dampen republican success in local elections this year?

I think the many moderate Republicans will be doing alot of soul searching and reappraisal of their decision making abilities over the next two years. Technically, yes the VP and cabinet can look at a situation and say he's a threat to himself and thru that the country, but it is completely open to so many interpretations is just becomes a legal morass, especially with 2 weeks to go. A plus is that with it being openly discussed that it might give Trump some amount of pause.

Keep hearing impeachment being mentioned again, not sure again if they can do anything is such a short period of time.
