Former Northamton County Council member Ladd Siftar is reportedly interested in running for the District Council seat being vacated by Ann McHale at the end of this year. She represents Bethlehem, Hellertown and Hanover Township. Ron Heckman, who served on Council and as Human Services Director, is another name being mentioned. But the one name that surprises me? At-large Council member Tom Dietrich.
I saw him a few weeks ago, sitting at a Bethlehem City Council meeting. I figured he was just lost, but he may have been testing the waters. What I've hear, and this is strictly a rumor, is that Dietrich still wants McHale's seat. When he ran for it in 2007, he was crushed, 4,733 to 2,293.

siftar? heckman? dawn of the dead...
I doubt Siftar could get elected given his past. I read Heckman has no plans to run.
I see the Long Kiddie Korps and the Callahan Cabal are already throwing stones.
Heaven forbid people who have experience and know how the County functions run. I mean we all need young career derm machine pol who needs a platform to move on from.
Sounds like we should call it, "Steve Barron Redux"
I am sorry to hear Heckman has no interest. He would be a good choice for Bethlehem.
how about Dana Grubb?
Dana is focused like a laser on Bethlehem. Someone like Bob Pfenning, who has no political aspirations of which I'm aware, takes an interest n both County and City government. He'd be an excellent choice, but I doubt he could be talked into running. I'll try when I see him at the next meeting.
zebrowski, jim stocklas, tony branco, joe long, jim gregory, ladd siftar,
We don't need heckman, like Grucela he defends Gracedale. they don't know what the people want.
We need knowledgeable people who understand the issues.
I don't ever post anonymous(but I have some history) but Ladd Siftar - god help us. Yes he knows and understands County Government but he has way too much baggage.
There has to be someone else. Jim Gregory actually would be a good choice and I think he has calmed down with age.
Fortunately the bagger vote doesn't control District one. The voters there actually think for themselves without the need of Glenn Beck's advice.
Cranium Power
Well, Ann McHale lost District 1 when she challenged Stoffa, so they are not always blind followers. It's an area capable of producing several highly qualified candidates from both parties.
I nominate steve melnick
