Last year, LV Congressman Charlie Dent was part of the Ethics Committee that recommended the censure of powerful Charlie Rangel. The full House agreed. Dent has been selected by House Speaker John Boehner to serve a second term on the Ethics Committee, which oversees the official conduct of Members of Congress and Congressional staff, investigates reports of misconduct and provides recommendations for punishing those found to be in violation of House ethical standards.
“A single Representative’s misconduct can jeopardize the public’s confidence in the entire Congress,” Dent said. “I’m honored to be trusted to serve on the Ethics Committee because I believe our work demonstrates to the American people that Members of Congress and staff are held to high ethical standards, and will face appropriate sanctions for any wrongdoing.”
Dent will be one of five Republicans serving on the Committee, including Chairman Jo Bonner (AL-1), Rep. Michael McCaul (TX-10), Rep. Michael Conaway (TX-11) and Rep. Gregg Harper (MS-3). According to the Congressional web page, Democrats have yet to choose their members.

well charlie didn't do a very good job on rangle out of new your. they should have expelled him from congress then arrested him for the same bullshit that tom delay just got convicted of. a public office is a public trust and these clowns need to be made to hold up to that trust. as a life long dem. i'm dusgusted with them all and guys like dent aren't serving us any good if they don't get rid of the scum on the pond.

Unfortunately, it was a Democratic-controlled Congress, under Nancy Pelosi's gavel, which voted to censure, not expel Rangel. Had the vote been postponed to this year, the result might have been different - so it's unfair to blame Dent for a too-light punishment.
