Deegan to Easton City Council: Grow a Spine

Guess what Easton city council did last night?

No one even tried to float another name. No options, no debate, no grandstanding.

No sense.

We'll give council a break on this one. Maybe each was still starry-eyed with the lights in their faces and the people in the crowd. Maybe the Pantos will be quite effective together. Here's hoping they and other city leaders do a great job.

Sal has failed miserably in his first opportunity to show leadership. We've grown to expect this garbage from city council. I guess taxpayers will have to live with the same from this mayor.

Let them eat cake.

let them eat cake, Wow guess who that comment above is from. I was at the swearing in session last evening and I was moved not only by the new Mayor's rousing and invigorating Inaugural address but more importantly that I felt is was sincere and from the heart. I was not there for his swearing in but another official and I came away saying to myself that we may actually see a turn around in our city. He asked for volunteers and I am going to call him and offer my help. I believe in him and have confidence in his ability. I don't know him but I know I want to get to know him. So to all you naysayers, there is a new sheriff in town and he is positive in his attitude and approach to our city and I think I will stick around and stay in the city.

I still don't see why people blame Sal. Every single council member voted for her. Not Sal. Do you think Sal wants his wife on council? Would you want your wife on council. Sal failed. What did he do. You tell me what he did. Seriously. Sal didn't nominate or vote for his wife. If anything you should say Dan, Ken, Jeff, Sandy and El failed. Spike please.

Anon 9:36,

I like Sal. I think he'll be a good mayor and will turn the city around. I don't like the idea of his wife being appointed to sit on his council, and have made that clear. But that's just one item and Easton's shaky finances are a much more pressing concern right now. I wish him and Easton the best.

Bernie, my point is that everyone is pointing the finger at Sal when they shouldn't be. I just find it hard to believe that he actually wants his wife on council. I find that very hard to believe.

Sal has enough headaches, I'm sure he didn't want this one.

Okay enough already, it is done and over. This silly in house sales job that poor Sal didn't want his wife. If Sal didnot want his wife to be on she would not. I wish Sal well, Easton is hurting and needs to come back.
But this was a plan from the beginning. Sal's wife didnot run so Sals chances would be better, he won now she gets appointed.
She would win in an election but I think the entire manuver was cheesy.

Sal gets the blame because he's in charge. He had an opportunity to be a statesman and reject, out of hand, the suggestion that his wife be appointed.

His is a sin of omission.

I hear the rousing words and heartfelt speeches, but I see actions that run contrary to Sal's pledge of better government. The only mitigating factor for Sal, is that he still looks better in contrast with a pathetic city council.

Having launched his tenure with this small town, politically incestuous, business-as-usual act, one has good reason to be disappointed and concerned.

WOW. I don't post for a day and some one hides under a "anonymous" and tries to claim they are me.

What idoits have not relized I post under my own name becuase I could give a shit what people think of me. Why are these "Democrats" for the Pantos so Karl Rove like? Trying to push poll and foll people into thinking I said something. I mean it looks like some "Democrat" is really a closet Neo-Con with these tactics!

Again Read between the lines buddy and keep that nose clean.

Stop posting and trying to fool people that its me.

When I have something to say I do under MY NAME!

Oh and BTW Einstein Bernie has IP address for posters, so um bad news.

Your IP will show who you are.

Plagerism is a crime BTW biff.

Come up with your own lines.

Before just try to avoid snorting them!
I will laugh my ass off the day you are exposed for the fraud crook you are buddy!

I never purported to be j. spike and appreciate the privilege to post anonymously here. I'm insulted by a poster's insinuation that I am he. If my writing style grade level dropped to that of j. spike's (the inherent humor notwithstanding), my humility would lead me to appreciate my privilege of anonymity even more.

Nonetheless, j. spike isn't the only poster who wishes to tell Easton's new emperors they're wearing no clothes. I share many of his views, but thankfully, not his abominable communication skills. I suppose he's a victim of "No Child Left Behind" or some other vast right wing conspiracy to make his communication appear like that of a second grader. I want my tax dollars back from the school district that delivered his level of discourse as a final product upon graduation (assuming a graduation occurred).

And I graduated High School when the great fraud Bill Clinton was President.

You know with "No American Job Left Behind" his efforts to help Newt send all of our labor overseas and destroy the American Economy.

You might recall Clinton on paper was a democrat.

But his pro globalization and NAFTA bull was just part of the right wing conspiracy.

"Or the office you once were elected to! (sic)"

A sentence fragment ending in an infinitive is not sufficient proof of a diploma. I'll need more.

I have never run and will never serve in any elected position. My background is shady and I have inhaled lustily.

Hey I went to Pocono Mountain what do you expect. They only cared that we arrived so they could collect their cash from the state for us.

And BTW this is a comment section on a blog. Not a editorial for Harvard International Review.

Hell Bernie has many typing errors in this part of the blog.

Get a grip.

My kind of guy!! Now even Spike will love you.

And a shady background dosn't stop many from running for office in this city.

B. Since when do names pop up on IP addresses. Isn't that illegal? If names do pop up please forward me the names of those rat bastards from a few weeks ago.

J. Spike,

Anonymous posts are better for me because regardless of the content there is always the chance that the person behind the post actually has some brains. So it's mysterious and makes for better blogging. In your case, we always know that you're full of shit so it takes the fun out of it.

Anon 11:16,

Names don't pop up next to IP addies. My sitemeter shows IP, ISP, location, time spent on blog, where you came from and where you went. On weekdays, it takes a concerted effort to track someone because of the large number of readers. On weekends, my readership drops in half, and it's a little easier. But I'm not around. It's like looking for a needle in a haystack. In most cases, I can't find it if more than an hour has gone by. If someone repeatedly makes really offensive comments from the same IP, I will try to track the person.

If I was really interested in knowing weho is commenting, I'd require people to ID themselves. I'm more interested in what is being said than who says it. Also, there are many folks who have valuable things to say, but would not do so if they had to register. That sitemeter is there primarilyt so I can see what is interesting to people.

Now excuse me while I inhale lustily.
