Callahan Hired Gun Helped Elect Embattled Massa

John Callahan campaign manager Justin Schall is a hired gun from the DCCC, a journeyman completely unfamiliar with the LV. He has lost most of the races in which he's worked. But he does have one notch on his pea-shooter. He did run Eric Massa's successful 2008 congressional race in Corning, NY.

Well, Massa has turned out to be a disasta who has decided against reelection. He's currently facing accusations that he sexually harassed a junior male member of his own staff. And guess what? A shocked Massa fired a 2006 campaign staffer who was accused of luring three teenage boys to his apartment, plying them with alcohol and then asking one 16 year old boy to spend the night with him.

The staffer sued him, and Massa later apologized.

By the way, Massa thinks Joe Sestak would make a great Senator.

They were both in the Navy.

In the navy / Yes, you can sail the seven seas / In the navy / Yes, you can put your mind at ease / In the navy / Come on now, people, make a stand / In the navy, in the navy / Can't you see we need a hand / In the navy

I think this Massa creep wanted the public option to pay for all the counseling he and his victims need.

A gay sex scandal? Does that mean Callahan is really a Republican?

Bernie,
We'd never read this anywhere else, the connection between these operatives and candidates.
Thanks for keeping us informed.

Studds, Frank, McGreevy...

Hardly a partisan thing, except in your shallow head.

"A gay sex scandal?"

Not really. The scandal here is the claim of harassment against a junior staffer.

Now I added a pic of the Village People and a portion of "In the Navy" to be funny, but if I have offended any gay person with that, I am very sorry. If I had the time, I would have run this with one or two of my gay friends first. Believe me, I have deep respect for gay people, especially those who have come out. That takes courage. But most gay people I know have a good sense of humor.

This has very little to do with Mayor Callahan. IS the goal to sensationalize something completely remote to the mayor and attempt to connect him some way with this behavior? Can't we decide this race on issues rather than innuendo?

"Can't we decide this race on issues rather than innuendo?"

Oh, has Callahan taken any positions ... on anything? I must have missed that.

Actually, his decision to use a journeyman who knows nothing about the LV or its residents is an issue. That campaign manager's prior history is an issue.

I'd agree it pales in comparison to the many issues Callahan should be discussing.

The Central Scrutinizer said...

Oh and besmirching Joe Sestak for good measure? C'mon, man. He's a good man.

Bernie O'Hare said...

That must be why his staffers leave him faster than rats jump off a sinking ship.

Callahan is mayor of Bethlehem. Dent is a US Congressman, Of course their immediate issues are going to dominate their time. Fortunately for Dent, his issues are the campaign issues. I actually prefer the mayor to concentrate on being mayor until the campaign season really heats up.

I'm not really sure why a campaign manager, of all people, must have roots in the community. But it seems important to you and you are entitled to your opinion.

That means he's not a good man? Sarcasm meter is off the charts today.

If callahan supports healthcare, I support him, even if he's gay.

Bernie O'Hare said...

"That means he's not a good man? Sarcasm meter is off the charts today."

Um, let's see. Low wages. Employee dissatisfaction. That generallly does not happen when a boss is a "good" man.

Hmmm.

Another one bites the dust for Nancy Pelosi's "Most Ethical Progressive Liberal Democrat Congress In History".

Looks like the "Drain The Swamp" program is going exceptionally well.

So, how many Democrats left to go before the job is done?

Anonymous said...

Dear 7:16

That is obvious! At least the Dems are chasing women..

Coming on the heels of the Charlie Rangel Scandal, what an uncomfortable momemt this must present for Progressive Liberal Democrats and their claims of "Most Ethical Congress In History".

What else do Progressive Liberal Democrats continuously misrepresent themselves about?

Got Transparency?

Bernie,

Even you have to admit, once you think about it, this roundabout connection is fairly pathetic. How about this. Charlie Dent gets much of his money from oil companies, drug companies, and insurance companies..They all suck..So therefore Charlie must suck, right??

Bernie O'Hare said...

"Even you have to admit, once you think about it, this roundabout connection is fairly pathetic."

I agree it does not mean much.

Anon 10:07, aka PigPen,

Let's drop the sweeping condemnations, alright? It's illogical.

"But most gay people I know have a good sense of humor."

While we're painting with broad strokes, my experience is that most homosexuals I know are sullen and nihilistic.

Bernie, I'm surprised you got this one backwards. Callahan didn't hire Massa. When the DCCC agrees to let someone run for national office, he agreed to accept the campaign manager they assign, too.

"But most gay people I know have a good sense of humor."

Stop stereotyping. Become part of the solution. How's the humor of most blacks you know? How about the Chinese? Italians?

What would most gays say about these groups and their humor?

You're the freakin Jane Goodall of humor. Please share more of your findings.

Wow! anyone surprised that Ohare has insulted Gays and the Navy in one post. He is an amazing hypocrite. You know Ohare for someone caught in the County wash room with you "friend" while you were wearing your dress. Should you really be judging anyone? Or even mentioning sexuality.

You are going so far out there in your rabid defense of Dent and attacks on Callahan that your ever present crazy-side is again in the forefront.

I was just going to comment on Bernie's reach linking Massa to Callahan becuase of the hired help.

What local campaign operative should Callahan use - Mike Solomon?

The people who do the heavy lifting of a campaign are the local volunteers not the hired help

But as one of the gays - please
1 Don't ever say MOST OF THEM - because you really cannot know most of 10% population, can you?
2 Don't assume you can speak for anyone other than your self
3 Don't group us all together in any way for any reason on any issue at any time
4 I have a wicked good sense of humor and do not allow myself to be offended by stupid things whether they come from people I like (Bernie) or people who hide behind Anonymous.
But what offends me is cowardice, phony bullies, rudeness, bad manners, poverty, selfishness, stupity, homelessness, violence against the women or the weakest among us, people who use the word Fuck every 3 words, dirty air, unclean water, people who dress badly, bad breath and Sarah Palin.

Donald said...

OK so perhaps Sarah Palin does not offend - at least until her reality show is aired - then we'll see.

Bernie O'Hare said...

Donald,

I thought about this before posting it, and decided the humor outweighed any perceived insult. But in explaining what i did, I managed to make a stupid comment that "most of the gays I know ... " It was not intended as a generalization or sweeping statement, but was poorly phrased and i have to accept the criticism I am getting. I appreciate you telling me what you think and I will keep trying to do better.

Bernie O'Hare said...

For those of you in the Navy who are offended, that's pretty much intentional. Heh. Heh. Heh. I was in the Army. One of my Navy vet friends has already nailed me.

Bernie O'Hare said...

"I was just going to comment on Bernie's reach linking Massa to Callahan becuase of the hired help."

It is a bit of a stretch, but it's interesting. I do think one reason whu Dems keep losing in the LV is because they are afraid to use their local talent, which does exist. I know some young guys who are both experienced, LV residents and have the smarts to do this.

Anonymous said...

Who Jim Hickey? He is bat shit crazy.

Bernie O'Hare said...

I just remembered Hickey is a navy vet. Did I mention how much I love the Navy?

Anonymous said...

And Joe Sestak was a Navy Rear Admiral. Pat Toomey was a derivatives banker. Specter is a two-faced Republican.

Bernie O'Hare said...

A rear admiral you say? Wow! No wonder Massa likes him.

Anonymous said...

Another poor taste homophobic joke by a man who wears dresses in public restrooms. It sounds like Angle taught you well.

Donald said...

I would never wish to tell you what to think

The Dems have lost to Dent because they ran someone from outside the district, a write in who came closer than he should have, and someone more interested in being a star than helping people. Have you seen her in her talking head role on Chris Matthews? And he is well liked and respected.
Not sure on the outcome this year but Dent will know what his like to run for his life after this race.

Anonymous said...

Now this is a great find by Callahan. Is this how he would run a DC office?
God help us in this hour of need.

I think it's interesting to see where a campaign manager is coming from. But at the same time it only predicts what he might do, and doesn't show much about the candidate. Against Dent you will need someone who is strong, because taking on an incumbent is no easy task. Still I hope to see Dent go down. HARD.
