Northampton County's four colleges and universities will join DA John Morganelli today to address drinking at the four campuses and potentially outline a unified strategy toward keeping students safe, particularly freshmen during their initial weeks away from home.
“Obviously, college students will continue to drink,” Morganelli said. “My purpose in having this summit is to avoid the kinds of tragedies we have seen on a daily basis across the country and right here.”
Before the roundtable, representatives of Lehigh University, Moravian College , Lafayette College and Northampton Community College will hear presentations about alcohol abuse by college students.

An exercise in futility.
Perhaps bo will speak
Is it a BYOB? Bring your own bong?
Bernie and his friend Jack are scheduled to speak (Jack Daniels).
Prohibitions lead to abuse. We're more than happy to send 18-year olds to die in uniform. But God forbid they have a beer. We create our own immaturity regarding alcohol.
I grew up in the era of eighteen year-olds being able to buy alcohol legally. Although it wasn't as much fun as it was before.
Lehigh University and Lafayette college are disgraceful.
Criminal institutions in this regard.
Is this a problem at trade schools? Or in the work force with young people?
Or is it just a problem for those privileged enough to attend college?
Although most have exposure to alcohol, it seems to be a problem of privilege more than an alcohol problem.
A roundtable on privilege recognition and personal and parental responsibility might be more effective.
Bernie to bring Johnny with him =Johnny Walker !
