Happy News From NorCo Courthouse

Courthouses are rarely happy places, especially during criminal week. But the recent sight of four young children, dressed in their Sunday best and running and laughing outside the rotunda, brought smiles to Deputy Sheriffs and courthouse visitors alike. They were at the courthouse for a good reason. They had just been adopted.

Twin bothers Jayden and Ricardo Rivera, age 6, were sporting summer hats, dress shirts and vests. After spending 1,837 days in foster care, they are now the sons of Carmen and Ricardo Rivera. They're both looking forward to first grade, and Jayden admitted he's a ball player.

Ruby Saylor, age 3, and Maya Saylor, age 5, in beautiful dresses and with their hair carefully braided and bowed, are now the daughters of Kristin and Richard Saylor. They were unable to describe their future plans because they were too busy stealing the boys' hats.

Good to see you found something constructive to do, whilst waiting for the Witch of West Easton to be disposed of and dispatched on her broom.

Gary W. Gorman writes...

As an adopted parent to three wonderful children and a former foster parent, along with my wife, for several years to countless other children, stories like this reinforce the goodness and selflessness in the world. It's a refreshing change of pace to the other stories that splash local headlines these days. I wish these families all my best; both now and in the future. And to the children in the photos: I know first hand the struggle and obstacles that your new parents had to overcome in order to provide you a safe, nurturing, loving home. You're in good hands. Congratulations all around!

Gary Gorman, I loved the hats those young boya were wearing. All four of them seemed like great kids, and had smiles brighter than yesterday's hot sun. I commend you and anyone else who cares for these children. I know about your situation bc I read about it when you were commenting during the DJ race in Hellertown.

Great story you'll never see out of the MC, ET or 69. Thank you, Bernie.

As a side note, how does one even start the adoption process? Through the orphan's Court?

Matt, I'm no expert on the topic. The matter does eventually end up in court. The best place to start, in my view, is Catholic Charities.
