Morganelli Should Replace Kane NOW

The Morning Call reports that Northampton County DA John Morganelli is interested in running for Attorney General. After noting his interest, it goes on to recite the improbability of a local official being elected statewide. But that's nonsense. Two statewide appellate jurists - Democrat Jack Panella and Republican Robert Simpson - have beaten the odds. So can Morganelli. In fact, I believe he should be appointed to the position when Kane resigns (she says she won't go down without a fight) or, more likely,  is suspended by the state Supreme Court (former Chief Justice Robert Castille has floated this possibility).

Governor Tom Wolf was recently rated by HuffPo as the nation's most liberal Governor. Morganelli is a conservative Democrat. So why should Wolf appoint him? Why not instead appoint some liberal law school professor from the University of Pennsylvania to act as a caretaker until the people decide? I'll give you three reasons.

1. The people need a prosecutor, not a professor. - Morganelli is the state's most senior District Attorney. He still tries his own cases, including over 20 murder cases. Pennsylvania has enough crime, just in government, to warrant the appointment of a real prosecutor who is both seasoned and has administrative ability. Independent of the criminal charges against her, Kane has mismanaged her office and has left it in turmoil. According to Pittsburgh Tribune investigative reporter Brad Bumstead, "Kane intimidated and threatened to fire underlings to get them to do her bidding, undercut her top deputy and later tried to blame him for her legal woes."

Morganelli can turn the morale around and restore the public's confidence in a way that will be impossible for a caretaker.

2. Morganelli more likely to be confirmed. - The Republicans who control the State Senate would be more likely to confirm Morganelli than a more liberal type. Morganelli's positions on immigration and the death penalty might make him acceptable, despite his allegiance to the Democratic party.

3. Morganelli and Wolf have chemistry. - Morganelli is among the first who urged Tom Wolf to run for Governor, and was one of his early backers. They obviously disagree on the death penalty, but anyone who wants a tough but fair prosecutor should consider the man from the Lehigh Valley.

cut me a break with your relentless championship of this wannabee. He is the poster child for the Peter Principle. Should use some of his war chest to get his ears bobbed.

Although extremely well qualified JM is far too conservative for the progressive Democratic party of 2015. A caretaker will be appointed if necessary and Montco Commissioner Josh Shapiro will likely be the nominee next year.

Kevin Cerino said...

Not going to happen. As is always the case, the Senate will refuse to confirm an appointee who does not promise to run for that office in the next election. Would Mr. Morganelli be willing to give up his DA position to serve as AG for less than a year and a half?

I like Morganelli, but agree this should be filled by someone who promises not to run in 2016.

The person who fills in needs to focus on restoring integrity to the office, not on campaigning.

What kind of crap is this, the promise not to run again? If they get appointed and they do a great job, why can't i vote to keep them there? where is this crazy idea coming from?

I say appoint Morganelli and then let him run state wide for retention.

Bernie O'Hare said...

I agree that is baloney. The best way to restore the public's confidence is to install someone who has been doing an excellent job in NC.

"Montco Commissioner Josh Shapiro will likely be the nominee next year."

A County Commissioner? One who has no experience as a prosecutor?

Since political retaliation seems to be the subject of Kane's demise, then Morganelli would unfortunately be the worst possible choice for AG. If you want clean, honest, un-biased, and non-political prosecutions and law enforcement at the top, then stay as far away from the lehigh valley as possible.

I liked him until he ran to Nancy Grace about the Padgett murder. The only thing served by that appearance was his political ambitions and ego. An arrest had been made and the family should have been spared his sensationalizing it on a national cable show that's more tabloid than anything else. That was as low as a politician can sink. He's unfit to be AG. A top prosecutor should balance toughness and compassion. He doesn't. It was downright mean to the family and friends.

If you think Morganelli should be appointed AG wait to read the morning call article in tomorrow's paper. This man has be doing many wrong things and has used media to pull the wool over many locals eyes. His publicity stunts in many cases has shown a very biased corrupt way in which he chooses to abuse his power. So before we appoint this man to a state wide position I think more knowledge would be useful so we don't end up with more corruption in our local areas.(Allentown's Mayor) Some people's opinions may not change but I guarantee most of you will at least stop to think again.

sorry to burst bubbles here, but JM is and always was a political machine, and makes Kathy Kane look like Snow White. Look at his involvement with the Bethlehem Mayor race, and the political prosecutions that followed, and the ones that were ignored.

Can someone imagine what would happen if Kathy Kane was the campaign manager for the Harrisburg Mayor race while holding office as AG?

He has a history of forcing public officials out of public office, either by using his grand jury, or by using his office....and the opposite as well. Isnt it strange that the forfeiture bank account pays for his "war on drugs" county-wide mailers just in the knick of time for election season...and pictures judges who are seeking retention?

Bernie O'Hare said...

So far as I know, part of a DA's duty is to enforce the law against public officials who abuse their office, as K "Dierdre" Dolan did. In fact, he had enough evidence to charge her. Also, his forefeiture fund is regularly uadited and is spent in accordance with the enabling act. Most of it funds prosecutiors and money for drug stings. There is nothing improper about his bi-annual reports explaining what he is doing. Unlike many, he makes responsible use of forfeiture funds.

Are you an editor? If I thought for one second that there was any evidence that Morganelli acts unethically, I'd be plastering him all the way up Route 33. There isn't. Over the years, he has made some people angry by not prosecuting people they want prosecuted, or by prosecuting people they don't want prosecuted. In other words, he does his job, and rather effectively.

Anonymous said...

O'Hare, have you flipped the coin on the county wide mailers funded by forfeiture funds....I believe you were blowin oil about this when Roscioli was seeking retention, and the mailers showed her photo.....

Anonymous said...

If Morganelli becomes AG, O'Hare better hightail it to Harrisburg, because his perks of being prosecution proof will end....O'Hare writes these fluff pieces to keep the suits happy, and to allow him to consistently break laws that others are routinely prosecuted for. There is NO ONE in the prosecutors office that will butter O'Hare's bread, not one...so O'Hare should hope JM stays right where he is.

Bernie O'Hare said...

3:47, I did object to using Roscioli's picture when she was running for judge. But I find the forfeiture mail urea, which do not use public tax dollars, far less offensive than the glossy nailers that come from our state representatives and senators, and those are paid for by public tax dollars. When you speak out against them, I'll listen. But I see nothing wrong with an informative mailer sent every two years, detailing what the office does.

Bernie O'Hare said...

3:53, aka Tricia Meccacappa, there is no one buttering my bread now. If I had my way, you would have been behind bars long ago. As it is, you are on ARD probation, and if you fail to turn over the title and keys to your car, you will be taken off probation and go to trial.

Anonymous said...

Ohare at 4:55, she walked away with the sweetest deal ever to be seen, handed out by the Commonwealth, and not seen by any PD in the office for any of their clients...why do you think that was? You bet and lost on this one. Cant wait to hear the reply.

BTW, I thought it was YOUR car, not hers..whats the problem, Pen Dot wont issue the title? Cant wait to hear the reply

Docket sheet shows she got 30 days unsupervised ARD with full expungement...who gets a deal like this? No one.

Bernie O'Hare said...

The docket shows the order was vacated. If you have such a great case, go to trial. Otherwise, turn over the title or watch your ARD go away. You got a break bc you claimed your employer need an expungement and the DA was trying to be fair. i can transfer the title now. it is a little easier if i have the title. i also need the extra keys so the car does not mysteriously disappear, Better turn these items over or you won't get anything expunged. i don't see many people brag about ARD but forgot i am dealing with a mentally ill person.

http://lehighvalleyramblings.blogspot.com/2009/11/da-john-morganelli-to-angle-paybacks.html

So you say JM should be AG...and that Kane is unfit b/c she engaged in political retaliation.? Isnt that what JM did to Ronny boy, according to the 2009 blog? Why the sudden change of heart and the lap dog, french kissing ?

you hit him pretty hard back then, but now its a totally different tune?? I think we know why.

Bernie O'Hare said...

I hit JM hard then bc I was angry, Blog Mentor. After I cooled down, I realized he was just doing his job.

The ARD order does not mention title or keys...by the looks of your diary of Mezz, I'd expect you to park YOUR car right under her nose, so maybe she would steal it, then be charged with a felony...isnt that more up your alley...and how would you expect her to find it anyway, when your last post showed it parked up there on one of Ronnie's shit farms? Is he charging you storage fees? I would think you would have it sold to pay the 5 ft 3 Allentown clown his legal fees, no??

Bernie O'Hare said...

Mezzacappa, I am not going to argue this. You are violating bail conditions by posting here. Turning over the title and your extra set of keys is a condition imposed by the DA. ARD is in his discretion. If you fail to comply, watch what happens next.

Its not Mezz, O'Hare but we know you continually fantasize about this woman, to the delusional level of having conversations with anon comments, then apply the false attribution mantra to each reply. Its best that you forget this obsession and try to move beyond the woman you claim destroyed your life, instead of broadcasting to the world, that you cant keep her out of your head for a single day

Personally, I'd get rid of anything of value that you collect from her, so as not to remind yourself of the horror she caused for you....but seeing the truth as it is, I have no doubt that you will lick and polish the car daily, as some sort of sick trophy memory of the girl who dumped you for being a disgusting evil impotent leech.

You can be a Morganelli cock sucker for the rest of your days, but that doesn't change your dick size, does it?

@8:27PM Sure sounds like Mezz. You're someone with the same maturity level - always lacing your posts with sexual references. Maybe you're the Lehigh Valley Nobody.

You also are incompetent with apostrophes, a signature of the Mezz. I think you ARE the Mezz. Same old rhetoric. Bitter about that LTCF application leak and can't stay away from this thread? Losing your car? The deed to your house? Have a great night, and watch mixing the booze and pills.

"You bet and lost on this one..."

This describes you perfectly, Mezzacappa. You bet Bernie wouldn't win a judgment against you. You lost. You bet Bernie wouldn't be able to collect on a civil claim. You lost. You bet that you'd win an appeal of the award, and lost both in county and Commonwealth court. You bet that Bernie wouldn't get your car. You lost.

You bet that you could transfer your house to your mother and escape your debt to Bernie - but you failed to realize you were breaking the law. You'll lose.

You are the one who bets and loses. Whether your shriveled butt gets unceremoniously tossed in jail remains to be seen. I'd love to see McFadden do the honors.

You stand outside the car, picturing Mezz inside the car, while trying to whack the small rise that comes from the micro dick below the belt...a belt with no sidearm, because the "victim" is a NICS/PICS fail, and a federally disabled whacko from prior 302's.....

Everyone knows the truth about the madman terrified about the 9-12 sweetheart with a loaded Glock

"You bet Bernie wouldn't collect on a civil claim and lost"

Bernie did not collect on a civil claim. Ms. Mezz was carjacked and robbed by Sheriff...why do you think Dalrymple puts an "out to lunch" sign on his door, every time O'Hare storms the office?

Its nice to know one person can use the Sheriff dept to be a private investigator and debt collector, when no one else in the county gets this "perk"

"You've taken your share of low blows at this woman for some time."

That's a crock of shit, and you know it. Who owes whom a judgment for over $72,000, which was confirmed in Commonwealth Court just 2 weeks ago? Tricia does.

Who comes here and posts on Bernie's blog anonymously, for the sole purpose of tweaking Bernie? Tricia does. Don't ask how we know, because it is obvious with a very high probability which ones are hers.

Why did she post on this thread? Because she can't accept the fact she is being prosecuted criminally for committing a crime. Not because she didn't do it - she did. Because the law doesn't apply to her. She is the one who doesn't see a need to be fair. She filed for pauper status twice in the same case in two different courts - and she has plenty of assets.

She isn't even supposed to be contacting Bernie, indirectly, so why is she posting here? Blaming Bernie for this woman's refusal to follow our laws and pay her bill is total bs.

Back on topic, I hope Morganelli runs. He sees to it that all criminals are prosecuted, from murders to fraudsters like Mezzacappa.

typical and predictable response from someone who is obviously overwhelmed with personal animosity and revenge

The false attribution mantra shines again. She must have been an amazing date to have thrown someone so far off course, he cannot see the forrest through the trees, years later. Should I ask her out? naaaaaa, she might pistol whip me if I don't behave

The "time heals all wounds" adage would normally apply, but this is clearly not normal.

John Morganelli would make an excellent AG. And, if he doesn't replace Kathleen Kane, I would vote for him in the next election.

@10:20AM Not cleaning bedpans today, sweetie? You're playing the same worn out tape loop. Your argument that Bernie is carrying some ill-conceived flame for you after 4 years has been cast rejected and aside in all the court actions you've gotten yourself involved in, including a fraudulent PFA application. You are not the victim, which is why you owe Bernie a judgment, you lost your car, you may lose your house, and you may lose your freedom. Meanwhile, Bernie is out doing valuable reporting. Who is the desperate loser here? You should have offered a reasonable settlement, instead of assuming you'd get off scot free. Bernie would have accepted it, from what I hear. But you thumbed your nose at him and the courts, and taunted Bernie right here on his own site. Now you reap what you sow. Enjoy the taste.

Have a great day - maybe make up some campaign posters if you didn't pull out of the election.
