Can a LV Candidate Win Statewide?

Many will argue that it's impossible for a Lehigh Valley resident to win statewide. So they dismiss NorCo DA John Morgenelli as a serious AG candidate for that reason. But our appellate courts do already have two people - Superior Court Judge Jack Panella and Commonwealth Court Judge Robert "Robin" Simpson - who managed to do it. Northampton County Judge Emil Giordano appears poised to capture a Superior Court seat, too. So I believe Morganelli can easily win statewide if he can raise the millions needed.

Incidentally, Judge Panella very nearly prevailed in the Supreme Court race. He was beaten only because his opponent, Joan Orie Melvin, criminally used public resources. In other words, she cheated. She ultimately resigned in disgrace while Judge Panella never missed a beat

Gregory will be in the rotunda one day making policy and looking fabulous. His silver hair is mid back length and his pectoral muscles appear to be sculpted by michaelangelo and Donatello.

Good thing he has a lifetime membership at tantastic because his only flaw now is a rather pasty complexion, by summer of 2016 he will be holding court at cedar beach wearing a Gucci banana hammock and lots of tanning lotion

Sure, why not?

Jim Gregory is still one of the most knowledgeable people in the Lehigh Valley when it comes to politics. I am sure when he is back, he will fill the void left by Mike Fleck. He was a major asset for John Brown and it is obvious the absence of Gregory from the Brown inner circle has hurt.

Jim Gregory is a powerful man with a superior intellect. If Morganelli wants a chance he better hope he can repair his relationship with Mr. Gregory.

Yes, but not Morganelli. He's far too conservative for the Democratic Party of today. The coalition of Bob Casey Sr. (who opposed the death penalty) he cites no longer exists in a Democratic primary. He'll have a very hard time winning the liberal/progressive and urban vote with his positions.

Morganelli = Peter Principle

Sure. It's just the Lehigh Valley has had lousy, unlikable candidates.

Cunningham and Pawlowski would have both failed no matter if they were from Philadelphia because they have exceptionally limited appeal to voters.

Place is irrelevant. We've elected governors from Erie and now York County.

Take the money out of politics and make them earn the office.

Seriously, Comparing to football we will have partisan support for teams like Parkland,CC,Easton, BC etc but fall short in supporting any one team regionally as a contender in a state championship. Its just the way we are. Heres the kicker, We now want to promote taking money out of politics. Morally right but realistically stupid unless the whole state does. Do ya think Philly and Pitt are gonna take money out of politics? LOL So lets send all are tax money to Philly and wind up with the short end like we have since day one. Politics by design has become a dirty blood sport. Lets be vigilant and contain the nonsense but the do gooders in this regard are just blowing smoke up your ass to get political points.

Philadelphia already has. It has severely limited contributions. An attempt to skirt that law is what resulted in the federal prosecution against Chaka Fattah. So the laws do work if you let them.

Bernie, You have a lawyers mindset. Do you honestly believe money will no longer drive politics in Philly because of new laws. I love my country. theres no better on this planet however money is the lifeblood in all aspects of our system. Love our history too. Wonder how long its gonna take before Trump will claim he would have gotten a better deal then paying 24 bucks for Manhatten.

Guy, you stated laws like this would never be enacted in Philly. I corrected you by pointing out they already have been enacted. From that factual error, you go on to make another. You claim they would be infective, but the Feds just indicted Chaka Fattah for trying to do an end run. Of course there will be people who try to get away with violations. And they will be criminals.

Under the logic advanced by you and MM, we should just scrap the Crimes Code and make murder legal. Laws also exist to protect people. Based on what I've seen in recent elections, we can use some protection.

Of course a candidate from the Lehigh Valley can get elected state-wide. But they do have a disadvantage coming from a small media market sandwiched between larger markets. It can be done. I'm surprised that you didn't site the junior United States Senator for Pennsylvania as an example.

The right candidate can win. No one has come forward yet with the right candidate. Toomey won and that is just amazing, so miracles can happen. Still despite the politicking Morgyanelli can't win statewide. However, he can build his war chest up even more.
