In a brief meeting on April 12, Bethlehem Planners unanimously approved two warehouse projects located in near Route 78. The first, located at 10 Emery Street, will occupy 800,000 square feet on a 42.07 acre lot, with 259 parking spaces. This makes it larger than the 600,000 sq ft Amazon big box in Upper Macungie.
Nearby, at 2010 Spillman Drive, there will be a second, 176,400 sq ft facility, on a 13.1 acre lot with 108 parking spaces. Though close to Route 412, the building itself will be set back far enough to make it difficult to see from the road.
Both projects, located on former Bethlehem Steel property in Lehigh Valley Industrial Park VII, were recommended by the Planning Bureau.
Bill Bumber, Senior Project Manager for Liberty Trust, cautioned there are no tenants "at this time." But he called the site, close to Route 412, "a great location." Construction will take eight months, and should be finished next Spring, Bumber predicts.

Just what we need more distribution and more trucks. I suggest we Niz (confiscate) all the trucks that come into the Valley and make them all use Mack trucks as a local economic stimulus package.
