Charlie Dent To Host Upper Macungie Town Hall Tonight

Do you think LV Congressman Charlie Dent has it all wrong? Why not tell him? Dent is actually more accessible than most local elected officials, and has already hosted a series of seven or eight town halls since early this summer to get feedback on issues like health insurance reform, the stimulus and energy cap-and-trade. I attended one a few months ago in Nazareth, and was so impressed by the good arguments from people on both sides of the political spectrum. If you want to see democracy in action, this is for you.

"I invite you to join me on Monday, October 5 at the Upper Macungie Township Municipal Building, located at 8330 Schantz Road in Breinigsville, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. for open office hours. This is a great opportunity to meet and discuss your interests and concerns. You will also get to meet my staff who can help you with any specific federal matter.

"If you have any questions please call my Lehigh Valley Office at 610.861.9734 or my Montgomery/Berks County Office at 215.541.4106.

"I place great value on spending time in the communities of the Fifteenth District. I look forward to seeing you Monday evening."

Will SEIU be there in case any of those protesters show up?

Okay.
Will Dent actually allow voters to ask questions from the floor or will he have prepared questions? Tremendously different perspective. Maybe Bernie could find out?

Will folks be required to show IDs? Iris Scans?

Anon 8:15, If Charlie follows the format he used in Nazareth, he will open with a few remarks, and then take questions from anyone who took the time to be there.

Thanks, Bernie. Can't ask for more than a chance to speak, politely, of course. Can't remember ever hearing Charlie Dent raise his voice in a public forum. Good for him to be willing to allow residents the chance to speak, especially after what we saw this summer from politicians across the country.

Congressman Dent did give me a chance to ask a question at a town hall a couple weeks ago - and there were many more people who did not have a chance to ask one.

The question was on the dollar and what he was doing to protect its integrity. I didn't like his answer - and more importantly his actions - but decide for yourself from this link

Jake Towne,

It is really dishonest for a Congressional candidate to post an anonymous comment linking to a question he asked at a town hall. I expect you to identify yourself. And a question about the dollar? Give me a break! Slamming Dent bc he allowed you to question him, but you didn't like his answer?

Are "Open Office Hours" a Town Hall meeting? He usually does his town halls by conference call. Not surprising given the behavior of the fringe right as of late.

In addition to those conference calls, this is Charlie’s 17th open Office Hours forum this year. Since taking office he’s done more than 50 (plus dozens more Q&A sessions with residents at senior centers, workers at local employers he visits, etc.).

This guy Jake Towne is sure full of himself.Doesn't like the answer. Give me a break. This guy sounds like someone I know. Maybe that is who is writing his political stuff. Jake are you writing your own material?
