Allentown Human Relations Comm'n is Sorry

Yesterday, I told you that Allentown's Human Relations Commission snubbed Tony Phillips, the city's first black elected official, at a dinner earlier this week. You'll be pleased to know that Vice Chair Allyson Diane Hamm did send Tony an "apology" yesterday. She took a break from a Meet'nGreet with Mayor Ed to tell Tony he was introduced after he left, and that if he had stayed, he would know that and that he should have given them the courtesy of letting them snub him a little longer and he was too late and they are nonpartisan and it was a lovely evening anyway, so there.

She also asked him to pay for his dinners.

The Allentown branch of this once highly-regarded organization should be censored by Harrisburg headquarters. Their conduct is a disgrace and violates the very mission these (advocates? ha) pledge to follow.

The responsibility of a hostess is to greet and make every guest feel welcome. From your description of this organizaiton's front desk rep.,
she did neither.

I couldn't have handled this situation any better than the Vice Chair. Bravo to the committee!

Anon 6:29, The last sentence of her email reads as follows: "If you'd like to make payment for the dinners you ordered, a check can be given to Ismael Arcelay."

I sent this tolerance advocate an email asking her to tell me who paid for Hizzoner.

Great question Bernie - odds are 500/1 you never get an answer.

So let's get this straight. Not only is Tony to be abused, he's to pay for it.

They are not sorry! They are sorry they got called out, that is all.
They are not fooling anybody!

I am confused. Was this a meeting of the Klan or some government agency?

Just heard Tony on Gunther's show. He was very good. If only he had campaigned all year like he did today.

What a corrupt organization. Move over ACORN!

I heard the interview as well. First time I thought Phillips was a possibility.

This is purely "Chicago Style" politics and nothing more. The bumbling bureaucrats like Arcelay were given cushy patronage jobs by Pawlowski and now Phillips is the enemy. They were only scoring points with the boss for blowing Tony off.

Oh for the love of pete, you want some cheese to go with your whine at this party.

Grow up. Professional victims become old real fast.

I wonder if the above comment reflects how the Human Relations Comm'n reacts when someone makes a complaint of bias.

I'd prefer to be left out of this. I'm not giving any love for anything.
