Meet Northampton County's Maintenance Guys

At Northampton County Council's final budget hearing on November 9, most of the Maintenance Department was sitting in the audience. Painters, HVAC guys, carpenters. Were they there to complain about their boss, Public Works Director Stan Rugis? As it happens, they were there at his invitation. Rugis had each of these maintenance workers introduce himself to Council and explain the vital but often unnoticed role they play in making County government work.

Looks like the only thing most of them 'maintain' are daily trips to Old Country Buffet.

If you can afford that much food, you are overpaid.

First, most of those guys are underweight or average. SECOND, they are hard workers. i see them every day and respect them. Third, does it make you feel good about yourself to anonymously smear these county workers, who have done nothing to you? What an ugly person you must be.

Not to mention overworked. We are down to two maintenance workers at the jail. Given the age and condition of this relic they are overwhelmed and I feel sorry for them. Maybe when Mr. Brown is done licking his wounds he can go back to running the county. Leaving open positions unfilled is his way of keeping costs down, and then he can spin it as fiscal responsibility. The backlog of repairs is mounting, which is going to cost the county in the long run. Or perhaps their newly appointed supervisor, who is many years their junior and was "juiced in" from day one, could chip in. But he is too busy enjoying his new found authority and working hands on and earning their respect is beneath him. But they are good soldiers and will hold down the fort as best they can. I'll bet the maintenance workers throughout the county are in the same boat, including the fine gentlemen pictured above. To belittle them is disgusting.

Sounds like Kathy A ( Miss Corruption) Allen was posting the first comment here. Talk about calling the kettle black ! lol

It's unfair to attribute a comment to her that she almost certainly never made. You diminish legitimate criticism when you make irresponsible accusations.

Why weren't any of the prison maintenance men invited to attend and introduce themselves? I guess they are not as important as the others from the court house. The prison is down to two maintenance men and they bust their rumps. If you are going to be a good boss man make sure all of your men are invited!
