NorCo Elections- "Primed and Ready to Go"

Acting Northampton County Administrator Cathy Allen said that the county is ready for Tuesday's presidential election. "We're primed and ready to go," she said at Council's November 3 meeting.

There are 149 polling places in the county, and county workers have begun to move sealed and locked voting machines there. About 15 voting machines are being stored at strategic locations in the event of a breakdown anywhere. Allen also stated that 15 people have been trained and certified in the operation of voting machines, compared to just one person at the primary.

A generator is located at the elections office, and will be activated if there is a power loss.

A Deputy Sheriff will be stationed at the elections office, starting at 6:30 am, and will remain there until the votes are counted.

In addition, police departments have been alerted, but must remain 100' away unless their assistance is requested.

Council also voted, unanimously, to approve a new contract for the registered nurses at Gracedale, who are part of Steelworkers Local 2599.  Ken Kraft said he was glad that the county "finally got this done after all these years." The nurses there had been working without a contract since 2010. "We have to be competitive if we want nurses to work at Gracedale," added Council President John Cusick.

Council also voted, 8-1, to hire Reinsel Kuntz Lesher as the county's new outside auditor. Peg Ferraro was the sole No vote, although she provided no explanation.

Can we trust that the machines will not be tampered with between now and the election? Will they be guarded around the clock? Anything is possible with desperate people with the right knowledge.

Remember: Republicans vote on the 8th. Democrats vote on the 9th.

This is not an honest election and Trump was right. We have a "Judge of Elections" who admits he has already voted for Hillarious Clinton, and is illegally serving as a Judge of Elections in a ward in Hanover Township where he doesn't reside, even though the law requires he must be a resident of that ward. The law even requires that the person be elected "Judge of Elections. Trump is right. The fix is in. Judge of Elections are supposed to be neutral. Watch the Ballot boxes in Hanover Township.

You seem to be operating under the impression that a judge of elections is unable to vote at all. My job is to make sure that everyone who wants to vote is able to do so. Ideally a judge of elections should reside in the district and be a member of the majority political party in that district. And yes, he should be elected. But no one runs for these positions any more. The elections office has to scrounge around looking for people. In the district where I work, not one of the poll workers lives there, although two do live in Hanover. The elections office hires us to work. It is a matter of necessity. If you think this is improper, by all means call the elections office. You can make your concerns known to the Elections Comm'n as well. It is a very long day for me, starting at 5:30 am and going well past 9 pm. I am more than willing to step aside if asked.

Each of the two machines in my district is locked and sealed. When they are opened, the first ting that will happen is some internal testing and there will be a print out showing no votes have been cast. At the end of the day, there will be another print out showing how many votes are cast, which should correspond with the record of voters that we separately maintain. What you are suggesting is that someone could break into the polling place, break into each machine and insert numbers that correspond to record of actual voters we maintain and reseal each machine at 149 polling places with two or more machines. That is patently absurd.

Bernie - I assume all positions in Nazareth are staffed by locals or you would be there?

Bernie couldn't get elected in Nazareth. The Mayor counts the ballots.

I could never get elected anywhere.

When Trumpf loses it won't matter if it's by a large margin or narrow. He and his followers will claim it was rigged.
In their eyes a landslide loss is impossible, therefore the election was rigged.
If it is a narrow loss, obviously the machines were tampered with or just enough false voters cast ballots, therefore the election was rigged.
They haven't accepted a black man as President for 8 years, they will have a harder time accepting that a woman was elected.
It would surprise the hell out of me if Trumpf actually makes a concession speech that plainly states he accepts the loss and isn't laced with hate.

Oh stop. Gore sued GW when he didn't like the election result. They never accepted him, even after he won re-election easily. Wailing about 200 still goes on, although it tempered somewhat when people finally realized Gore is a rather special asshole asshole. The mindset that sees everybody in categories (black, female, gay, straight) is twisted. Crazy liberals see only groups and labels. They just can't bring themselves to judge people by the content of their character. In this election, the character of both candidates is appalling. Now, back to your parents' basement, where Hillary says you live.

"Trumpf"? Sure. Whatever.

Gore didn't "sue" anyone. Bush was the Plaintiff that sought to end the recount. Florida is one of the states that has an automatic recount initiated when the results are exceptionally close. That had representatives from both parties observing and arguments ensued over the "hanging chad" ballots. There were also "pregnant chads" argued (indented, but not hanging). Because Florida being awarded to either candidate would decide the election it dragged on far too long and it was the U.S. Supreme Court that decided the election would go to G.W. Bush. That fiasco ended the punched ballot method of voting. Bush is only one of four Presidents, I believe, that didn't take office with a majority of the national popular vote.

Piss them off and show ID stating you are an American and still alive. Also showing you have nothing to hide. Should make for an interesting time at the polls don't you think?

Lots of people do this. It is your right and pisses no one off.
