Fed Ed Investigation: Cedar Beach Pool and Possible Bid Rigging

If you think the federal investigation into political corruption is over, better think again. The Grand Jury is still gathering information, as some employees in the city's Public Works department can tell you. "It was the worst day of my life," says one of them.

According to three different sources I'm unwilling to name, I hear the following:
  • A new round of indictments is coming. I hear it is "soon." That could mean tomorrow, or next month.
  •
  • Feds are looking into the $1.8 million renovation project at Cedar Beach pool. That project was supposed to be completed by June of this year. Then it was July. The project was still unfinished on August 29. "Unforeseen conditions" claimed City spokesperson "Mike Moore," who lacks the honesty to use his real name.  (Maybe they found Jimmy Hoffa).
  •
  •  Believe it or not, there are allegations that federal investigators have honed in on bid-rigging, something that happened for the City's tax collection contract with Northeast Revenue. According to these sources, the ties to Allentown Mayor Edwin "Fed Ed" Pawlowski are much more clear. "They have him dead to rights," says one of them.

Bernie Bernie,
I have but I really don"t want too because its to late and tommorrows budget impass is going to be hillarios to say the least! Seein I am what I am and trying to do my best, I am alloud a broad lattitude in my trying to explain myself for myself as to what they allowed to proceed upon me with the Hamilton gang o Thugs the actors for lack of as well as no help and even hinderiance. Was Hoffa burried in one of the developmentalistZ earlier developments that falls into the overlay catagory covering a historical burrial site that by the way did not have the circus carnival twistZ put to print in forms of circus sticks for said land holdings within the triboro? Damm the diggins that will be unearth will be implicating many a entity as well as palumpas party favor conssesionair comPETitors that have ties to a high rankin state official with local ties of this chalk and paint to make a taint what it ain't gender specific, the facades they put on look good though but one must travel to the undesirable alley's in the back of thes props a progress, while all official acting in there official capCITY are cognazatly complicite yet claiming of ignorance? As FedEds REplacement hopeful uses the catch line phrase, "it is but the perception of crime"?

REpublican redd
humanist by design, no thanx i'l pass on party favors left or right

Does this have to do with why Shannon C might have resigned?

Don't know if there is a connection.

I'd bet money the concrete is cracked when they finally put the water in Cedar beach pool and it will be another two years until the damn thing is back to the way it was before they "fixed" it.

Your obsession with "Fed Ed" is bordering on psychosis. You see corruption around every corner. He will never be indicted. It is your ultimate wet dream. If the feds had solid evidence, he would already be a guest in "Fed Med."

As I stated before, every door that closes in this investigation, two open up. The problem in this case is the fact that "Fed Ed" has not cooperated with the feds and he is entrenched in a ton of influence/racketeering/pandering schemes. This complex investigation, which reaches into the center of city hall, is finally starting to shape up. As witnessed by the flight of top administrators in Allentown, the day is coming for the "Mayor for life". Don't forget when council appointed a city managing director to run the day to day operations of the city, this gave Fed Ed all the time to scheme and plan ways to get around the law. The dynamic duo of Pawlowski/Fleck built an elaborate scheme of influence peddling and political extortion. This was only as a strong as its links; which have now been investigated and obviously falling apart. A whitewash of the corruption must be eradicated in order for Allentown to move forward out of the reach of this dubious con artist they call mayor.

Looks like it might be time to postpone Fleck's sentencing.

On and on it goes. You have had this guy in jail for three years now. You keep making like he is finished, yet no charges. All your "sources" seem like they may just be angry folk who are full of shat.
As you go on and on and on, the Mayor is still the Mayor and not charged with a single thing.
Another one of your unhealthy obsessions.

There's no question he'll be indicted. And with Fed Ed corruption really is ariubd every corner. As with Boss Tweed,"he seen his opportunities and he took 'em. And he will pay.

Denial is a river in Egypt. There's no doubt he'll be indicted.

Pawlowski and his wife are the Joe and Teresa Giudice (Housewives of NJ) of Allentown. Because he won't cooperate, he and the missus will have to take turns going to jail. Feel bad for the kids.

"There's no question he'll be indicted", so we have been told for years by this blog. Yawn!!

Would still take him indicted or not over handout Bennett.

I'm guessing the Cedar pool is not connected to the investigation. I heard second-hand that it was delayed because they were surprised to find concrete from a 1920s pool under the 1950s pool, and the city had to renegotiate with the contractor and were arguing over who was at fault. Also, there was turnover among Parks and Recreation directors, which may have contributed to delays.

It could very well be that the complications at Cedar Beach pool are totally unrelated. But I know that several public works employees were yanked in, and very recently.

If they did find Jimmy Hoffa, please add his son and cover that hole as quick as possible!

I heard second hand that Shannon Calouri left the Community Development to work for a different city-affiliated entity.

I don't know if public works controls the Cedar pool project, or parks and recreation.

The original Cedar Beach Pool was a concrete perimeter wall with a sand/ground and bottom and a dam across Cedar Creek. This was a very common construction method of early pools. Jordan Pool was a created by a dam across the Jordan Creek that was recently demolished. The dam for the original Fountain Park Pool still exists. The 2nd Cedar Beach Pool was built in the same location as the original pool. Rather than demolish all or part of the original perimeter wall, it was covered up. There are several reasons for the delay in the construction of the new pool. One was the original perimeter wall. Another was the lack of the necessary permits because the pool exists in a flood plain. Another is the lack of urgency by the contractor to complete the job. Most of last summer there was only a couple of workers on site. The contract negotiations and the selection process of the architect and contractor is being investigated.

city council tonight voted to reduce the mayor's salary for the Managing Director, Director of Economic and Community Developing, and the Walker's position to $1 a piece .... This was by a vote of 6 to 1 ... Councilman Affa was the only councilperson to vote no ... Mayor Pawlowski was not at the meeting ... If it was his birthday it was a bad present.

Great comment, Dennis!

Oh damn I just applied for the Community Development position.. Does that mean it only pays a buck a year? I hope they didn't do the same with the Managing Director position.. then I'd have to work for backslash rather than the city salary...

They need to put the sand pile back at Cedar Beach.... And the sand creatures as well. That's when going there was fun...

Why didn't the city research how the older pools were constructed? Why didn't they even visit the Rare Book Room at the Library/ Could it be because it's not their money. It's the hard-working exhausted Allentown residents tax dollars that are never enough.
