Randy Miller is Nazareth's Newly Created Police Commissioner

Though Nazareth had no police coverage on Monday, and had to call the PSP for coverage at 6 pm, it still managed to follow through with the plan to make its top-heavy police department even heavier. Borough Council approved the new Commissioner position, although I prefer the term czar. He will be superior in rank to the Chief , Thomas Trachta, in what amounts to a demotion for him.

The Commissioner named is Randy Miller, although Borough Council also considered an application from Colonial regional Deputy Chief Jim DePalma. Miller will be paid $76,000 - 78,000, less than the six figure salary he was reported to have originally sought.

Don't understand why there wasn't any police coverage, you have a chief and now a commissioner, they both are salaried employees, both with arrest powers. If you don't have officers to cover a shift they should be on patrol. At least if they gave a damn about the borough they work for. May I also point out their management soils may not be up to par either if they can"t figure a simple thing such as scheduling.

Political blood sucker Randy.... waiting for a new executive to want to be back in as sheriff.
The state needs laws t prevent this kind of insanity within small boroughs like this. All these cops and no coverage? The entire elected body must be so proud of the collective job they have done.

Wow, Deputy Dog Miller's career is headed in the wrong direction. From chief of police in Bedlum with over a hundred officers, to county sheriff with dozens of deputies, to "commissioner" of a police farce of 4 in little Nazareth. Next stop for Miller is director of security at the Lehigh Valley Mall.

Not bad pay for a part-time job.Remember He don't punch no time clock

Part time? That is outrageous for the salary they are giving him.

It's funny how people pick and choose tidbits from an article to sensationalize. Commissioner Miller will have duties as a part-time police officer in addition to being the head of the department. Sounds like they're getting a 2-fer.

They are getting their moneys worth with Retread Randy.

The only smart move John Brown did was get rid of Miller.

Why the heck does a department that size need two people in administration? Talk about cherry picking details. You really think some part time work as an officer justifies it? Sorry. It is painfully obvious that Trachta needs to go badly, but they can't get rid of him.

Barney Miller will be patrolling the borough looking for deadbeats like O'Hare.

@2:47,
It appears to be the only way to put a lid on Trachta's shenanigans. He must have an iron-clad contract, and can't be dismissed, short of criminal behavior. The strategy seems to put someone above him to pressure him into seeking other opportunities. Then, it'll be his turn to sue.

Randi will not be answering any calls for service. He was a coward then and I suspect he still is now. He always found some back room to hide in while real cops did the work. He's perfect for nazareth. Keep him...no one else wants him.

I heard Roscoe P Coltrane and Boss Hogg are looking for a job as well.

Nazareth if you think you've paid before wait until you get the bills from miller. He loves to spend your money. Whatever he can't put in his pocket he use to buy police toys from his vendor "friends"
