Becahi Defeats Previously UnBeaten PM West

Pocono Mountain West has been the team to beat this basketball season. They defeated Parkland (77-68), Northampton (68-57), Central Catholic (88-78), Allen (74-69 2OT) and Liberty (68-62) on their way to a perfect, 10-0 season.

They are now 10-1.

The team that beat them?

The Becahi Golden Hawks, who only had three wins all season last year.  They now stand at 7-3.

Allentown Central Catholic had a big win, too, knocking off Nazareth (58-50). That's sweet revenge against the team that beat the Vikings for the 'ship during this summer's A-town Throwdown. Central now stands at 8-4, though its league record is just 4-3.

Of course, the big surprise tonight, at least to me, was the thrashing Parkland gave to Emmaus' excellent squad (75-52).I thought the score would be much closer

Bangor (10-0) and Salisbury (9-0) are, I believe, the only remaining undefeated team in the Lehigh Valley. They play each other Thursday night.

The latest top ten high school rankings, from LVBR, are (1) PM West; (2) Parkland; (3) Emmaus; (4) Whitehall; (5) Nazareth; (6) Salisbury; (7) Central Catholic; (8) Allen: (9)  Freedom; and (10) Bethlehem Catholic. .

The Bern man got allot of TV time last night at central game. Wearing red and sitting in the second press row. Man,if central can mesh and play like a team, they can be dangerous

Nobody will beat Parkland for a title. This team is lethal. They are loaded with solid players at every single position.

Emmaus went down big early (22-2 at one point) - to come back against Parkland starting that slow, I just don't think it'll happen.

Another great season! How's Dat playing?

I suppose at one time that area was a press row because there is room to write, but i have never seen press sitting there. That area is one in which anyone can sit. I sat there last night bc it is easier for me to keep stats like i like to do whenever I watch a basketball or baseball game. (I love to note assists and rebounds and keep track of shooting percentages). I have to tell you that I usually shun areas set up for the press, especially at public meetings. I like to sit close enough so i can hear and see what is going on.

Banker, Dat is not getting a lot of playing time yet. He is in for a minute here and two minutes there, and is trying to do the best he can to help his team in the time he is allotted. He did not score last night and actually missed two shots. At Whitehall, in which he played a little more, he scored 12.

They are a very good team and embarrassed CCHS in their first game. CCHS will play them again.

Parkland, with the returning football players getting back into the swing, looks very good. As these guys get their basketball legs, they're only going to improve. Local basketball is real treat during winter. I love to see different styles battling between five-pass, half court offenses and court-trotting transition teams. Can't get enough. Keep plugging, Dat.
