Northampton County Says GoodBye, For Now, to Parsons and McClure

Peg Ferraro awards citations to Lamont McClure and Scott Parsons
Northampton County said good-bye, for now to Council members Lamont McClure and Scott Parsons just before the December 3 meeting. McClure, a Bethlehem lawyer who had served since his appointment in 2006, decided against seeking re-election this year. A fearless advocate of Gracedale, McClure also authored the ordinance under which the Northampton County Gaming Authority was formed. He was an unsuccessful candidate for Executive in 2013. It's hard to believe he'll be away for long.

Scott Parsons, who defeated Ron Angle in 2011, lost his bid for re-election this year in a heavily Republican district. In his four short years, he displayed a common sense attitude rare in a politician. A champion of open space, he won Northampton County's Workhorse award for two years in a row.

McClueless is still clueless. Even when he shows up. If he runs fro executive even Brown wins. Good riddance.

And good riddance.

Thanks to both McClure and Parsons for your support and reasoning throughout ur tenure. You will be missed. Best wishes in the future!

Since Parsons never vacated his seat at DEITZI'S he is welcomed back with open arms. Merry Xmas Mr. Parsons from your friends in the republican party who used you to oust Ron Angle.

District 4 “Heavily Republican”? Hah! There are fewer than 200 more registered Republicans than registered Democrats in District 4. That’s “Barely Republican” and likely to shift to Democrat next month.

I believe it to be fairly heavily R, but am willing to be educated.

When I look at these comments, ibis really hard to miss the negative tone at all but one comment. I think people who do that just make themselves look bad.

I hope I'm not included in the negative tone. I was just amused by the characterization of Council District 4 as heavily Republican. It's not and has not been. This year is the first in recent history and probably forever that Republicans actually outnumber Democrats in any Council District.
It is true District 4 tends to vote Republican. In 2015, 821 more Republicans than Democrats voted in District 4.

I did include you, but am wrong. You were not being negative, but it gets hard sometimes after seeing so much negativity in other comments. My impression is that District 4 is heavily R, at least in municipal races. I do not have a breakdown by party that you just mentioned. Where did you get that? I'd like to check into it unless it is privileged information. The official results do not contain a party breakdown. At the polls, we do not ask what party in the general.

Bernie by results, the only thing that really matters, District four votes heavily republican. Whether the democrats vote for republicans or many democrats don't bother to vote, it doesn't matter. The end result is that for years in county races district four goes republican.

Parsons was a good enough guy who showed up and worked hard. I like guys I can talk to across a bar stool. The more he got slammed on being at Dietzi's, the more I like him. McClure represented the very worst of local politics. His loss is addition by subtraction. May we never see his ilk again.

McClure didn't lose, what are you talking about? Do you even vote?

Anonymous said...

His loss from council, as in no longer being there. And yes, I've never missed voting, and enthusiastically voted against McClure every time I had the opportunity.

Wonder if Barney Rubble will run for CE in 2017?

Your silence on the Islamic Terrorist Attack in San Bernardino, California, is deafening, BO.

What did McClure ever accomplish?

Bernie O'Hare said...

1) Author of the gaming authority ordinance, which was no easy feat. That authority is fnctioning pretty well.

2) Forceful advocate for keeping Gracedale county-owned.

3) Assumed watchdog role that Angle held, although from a differing perspective.

4) Added some intelligence to a board that sometimes appears to be woefully lacking in that department.

"Wonder if Barney Rubble will run for CE in 2017?"

I don't know, Charles "Don't call me Charlie" Dertinger. Do tell.

I think O'Hare is taking on the McClure defense. Could it be the McClure connection to mancrush Mr. Morganelli?

You hammered McCluess for years, no one will buy this reversal as easily as some of your past reversals. The guy is a slug who didn't run for reelection because he would have been beaten big-time. Of the five people running as Dem's for CE in 2017 he may place third.

5 people? Running for CE, do tell

Bernie O'Hare said...

I did Hammer McClure for years, and have admired Morganelli for years. My thinking about McClure has nothing to do with Morganelli. It changed when Lamont became a Council watchdog, started standing up for County workers and stood up to Brown. It's just that simple.

It changed when McClure was no longer watching Stoffa a Bernier mancrush and started watching Brown whom Bernie hates. Pay attention people it is not that hard to understand.

Bernie O'Hare said...

First, you claim I stopped hammering MCClure bc of Morganelli. Now it is Stoffa.the reality is exactly what I said. I think I'm a better judge of what I do and why than some anonymous coward.
