John Morganelli Sitting on $332,000 Campaign Fund

Though he has no opponent in this year's election, John Morganelli is sitting on a $332,000 campaign fund. Last year alone, he raised $47,730.00

What amazes me, when I look at his list of donors, is that everyone funds him. J.B. Reilly and Joe Topper were good for $10,000. Though Abe Atiyeh is suing Reilly, he gave $5,000 to Morganelli, too.

Why developers? DAs don't have anything to do with development projects. Atiyeh tells me that he always gives to Morganelli because he is tough on crime, and that helps him to keep high property values.

Bottom-feeding bloggers tend to cancel that out.

With this kind of money, Morganelli is in position to start a statewide run down the road. If he stays where he is, he can influence elections in a big way.

A real D would find a way to donate that money to a homeless shelter.

Or, to the County, to help all those poor bastards who actually have to pay normal rates for their healthcare.

Or, to the Salvation Army.

Or, to MADD.

Or, to WorldVision.

Or, to the PBA.

Cuz they care.

Nah, that's the D of myth and legend.

A real D would rather influence elections.

Too much money for someone who never has an opponent. Also it makes one worry that Justice from the Prosecution could possibly be less than blind.

Sorry but at its worse it is bad, at its best it is the ability to manipulate local government by someone who should not be involved in local politics other than his own.

this boy has no influence beyond being the puppet master in bedlam

Wasn't John Callahan sitting on a similar amount 2 years ago?

"Johnny Press Conference" is very beatable, unfortunately there's no young attorney willing to step up like he did back in 1991.

3:23am John is a man of integrity and what you are implying is why you have to be an anon Hack.

John will prosecute business people no matter who they are, if they break the law. for you to say that he is somehow not doing his job is like saying that Hiding your car from being impounded is legal

Go ride your broom back to Jersey where you come from MRS ED

Bernie, do you have any idea what the requirements are with respect to the remaining campaign funds following Mr. Morganelli's election in November? Does he have to return the money to donors? Does he have to transfer the money into a fund designated for a future campaign? Clearly, I don't believe he can or would keep the money. I am just curious because if the funds are transferred into another account designated as "John Morganelli for Pennsylvania Attorney General" for example, then this may provide some insight as to his future plans.

The laws concerning the use of campaign finance laws are very lax. Glenn Reibman, for example, sat on his money for years, doling it out here and there.

John's PAC is a state PAC so he does not need to create a new one should he decide to seek state office. He can use the money for that or to influence other elections.

Ron Angle still has his PAC as do many other pols.

I think people donate to John because he is DA and that is a powerful position, particularly how Morganelli operates. Nobody wants to be the target of his next runaway grand jury.
Bernie, I know you are a fan but Morganelli is a bit of a bully with a Napoleon complex

And you are A bit of a coward. Go stick a knife in someone so long as you can do so anonymously

As the loot is not needed for a DA campaign, that money is likely intended to purchase indulgences. Where there's room for prosecutor discretion, any edge is worth the money. And they were going to stroke checks for political candidates, anyway. It gives the impression of a candidate for sale; not one who's up for re-election. Some of this is complacent voters' faults, however.

From what I see, most of the people who contribute to Morganelli don't need indulgences. Try some other personal attack.

Morganelli is a good man, from what I have seen. He doesn't shirk away from going after LOSERS who believe they are above the law. IF he comes after you, there is a good reason.

On the other hand, if you make allegations up, try to twist the law for your own purposes to get back at an enemy, don't expect the time of day from him.

Morganelli said he wouldn't prosecute a club bartender who makes $10 per hour. How much must one earn to be held legally responsible for wrongdoing? Is the cutoff $15 per hour? $20?

I'd agree unless her is making more by skimming.

why didn't you smear him for taking money from JB and Topper you do every republican that does

The DA's office is doing a great job. Morganelli goes after lowlife criminal scumbags who think they are beyond the reach of the law every day. Public record shows that today is no exception.

Grand jury should investigate why his campaign goes out to restaurants and to the beer distributor all the time.
