There's a New Blog in Town

Lehigh Valley Conservative is actually much more than a blog. It's a political action committee promoting limited government. It will start things off right this Thursday with a 6 PM meeting at Allentown's Scottish Rite Center, 1540 W Hamilton Street. Isn't that anti-American? Scott Armstrong is bringing the haggis, followed by a bagpipe duet featuring Glenn Eckhart and Dean Browning.

Blog authors so far include two well known local conservative voices - the Allentown Commentator's Scott Armstrong and former Morning Call columnist Don Hoffman. In his latest post, Scott worries that President Obama may soon be compared to former Allentown Mayor Roy Afflerbach.

Was Afflerbach born in Kenya, too?

These guys may claim they're trying to get money, but I think they're hoping to pick up babes.

HUFFINGTON POST Sept 20

"Obama Open To Newspaper Bailout"

-----------------------------------

I predicted this here a long time ago and was ridiculed.

Who's laughing now! (Me, get out your wallet everybody - again)

-----------------------------------

Glorious leader has lots of interesting things, as is customary, to say in the Huffpo today.

Next prediction:

Obama will one day crack down on blogs that do not worship at his alter and parrot his policies.

I doubt Obama will look favorably upon this new blog in town.

Your Leader Obama said...

I'll soon be appointing a Blog Czar to make sure everything is kept "honest" and "fair" in the blogosphere.

My czar will take a hard look at compensation among bloggers. Bernie's apartment is much larger than he needs. From each according to his ability; to each according to his need.

Are you implying that This could lead to the full implementation of a state-controlled media and the co-optation of the press by the government?

Quote, ""I am concerned that if the direction of the news is all blogosphere, all opinions, with no serious fact-checking, no serious attempts to put stories in context, that what you will end up getting is people shouting at each other across the void but not a lot of mutual understanding,"

^^I sure do agree with Obama on that statement^^

Several bills have been introduced in Congress to aid the newspaper industry, including a Senate measure that would allow newspaper companies to restructure as nonprofits with a variety of tax breaks.
SOURCE: The Toledo Blade

When did "Tax Breaks" become bailouts?

THE FACTS ARE: Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Md.) has introduced S. 673, the so-called "Newspaper Revitalization Act,"
that would give outlets tax deals if they were to restructure as 501(c)(3) corporations.

LVCI, tax breaks are absolutely a form of bailout. In fact the stimulus bill contains a huge amount of tax breaks, tax credits, etc.

I agree with Obama that we need an honest news industry. I completely disagree with his assumption that the only way to make it happen is with government interference - er, assistance.

The current newspaper model is broken and people aren't buying it. If you don't fix the model - and by that I mean provide content in a format people are willing to pay for - then all you do by providing a tax break is delay the inevitable.

When are we as a country going to stop throwing MY good money (tax $$) after bad? Be done with this nonsense.

Banker.. Then R. Reagan's tax cuts should too be viewed as bailouts?

OR should tax cuts be considered as 'bailouts' only when applied to certain selections?

Should we have a straight up flat tax-- no exceptions?

Anonymous said...

LVCI, Reagan's tax cuts were a broad-based reduction of personal marginal tax rates. I don't consider it a bailout as it went to everyone. However, in my view specific, targeted legislation that benefits only certain companies or industries is a bailout.

Yes, I absolutely support a flat tax structure, along with a solid 'floor' below which no tax is owed.

Fair Enough

Why do liberals, when questioned about any proposed tax cut, ask, "who's going to pay for it?" As if, perhaps rightly so, an unfettered right to confiscated money belongs to the government and must be recouped if given away.

Later, they'll deny that tax breaks are bailouts of the same money the demand be replaced by more tax money. It's all redistribution of the same money.

LVCI,

You seem quite the well-trained liberal attack dog, don't you then today?

I copied the title of the article found at HUFFINGTON POST, nothing more.

I did not "imply" anything.

I COPIED the TITLE OF AN ARTICLE --- that's it!

So you know where you can stuff with your shameful attempt to smear and demonize.

You were EXCESSIVELY PARANOID with your accusation and obviously loaded up on the Kool Aid, today.

Because YOU KNOW and I KNOW --- IT's A DEFACTO BAILOUT, PERIOD!!!

RIDDLE ME THIS - do you think a newspaper getting the tax break is going to go out of it's way to report with objectivity on the entity and, heaven forbid, speak out against that entity that is giving them the tax break in the first place?

Or will the newspaper say EXACTLY what the entity giving the tax break wants them to say?

Thought so.

You can lie to yourself, but not to me.

A fluff blog for the ever fluffy Scott A.

"Look how wonderful I am". Maybe a better route is for you to start a real Republican Party in Allentown. Better yet take the one in Northampton County since they are not using it. And I am a Republican.

Bernie O'Hare said...

Republican, Democrat, whatever your party, you are a troll. Anonymous personal attacks will not be tolerated. Go spew your venom somewhere else.

G, ya tink da Morning Call wood report dis storie two-morrah?

BUFFY WICKS, WHITE HOUSE INSIDER, AND THE BREAKING SCANDAL WITH RESPECT TO POLITICIZING THE NATIONAL EDUCATON ASSOCIATON.

Tapes are flying around, don't ya know. (doctored, I am sure)

Wicks says on tape, "I'm actually in the Administration and working towards furthering this agenda, THIS VERY AGGRESSIVE AGENDA."

There are LOTS of eye-opening quotes on this tape.

VERY TRANSPARENT, this administration.

YET ANOTHER BREWING SCANDAL FOR THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION - but I guess this is getting to be old hat now.

(just on the heels of Van Jones, too, how unfortunate)

This is how trouble starts because people read headlines and not the story. The NEA is National Endowment of the Arts NOT National Education Assoc. This story has nothing to do with teachers.

Who is insulting Scott? The offer is genuine. I am a Northampton County Republican.

Take our Party please, we aren't using it at this time.

I was looking at the women pictured on your post.

Is it just me, or does Michelle Malkin look like an Asian Dominatrix?

Not that I would know what one looks like!

Bernie O'Hare said...

She could dominate me any time she wants.

Malkin is unfortunately going thru quite a bit of turmoil as a result of Internet trolls. She has had to move twice, and has had to hire bodyguads to accompany her everywhere. This is the price she pays for strong opinions.
