Cathy Allen Resigns Seat On Bangor Borough Council

Cathy Allen is probably best known for her unconvincing "There's nothing to see here" interview on WFMZ-TV69 about a near drowning at Bangor Memorial Park Pool. Her account was markedly different from those who were actually there. They claim that a young drowning girl was rescued by an adult, while she insisted it was a lifeguard. They claim lifeguards were nowhere to be found. She insisted they were changing their posts.

What Allen failed to disclose is that her own son was one of those lifeguards.

Allen was Northampton County Executive John Brown's first choice as Director of Administration, but her nomination was rejected in a 6-3 vote by County Council.

Now, as I first told you here on July 1, she's resigned her seat on Bangor Borough Council, where she served as President. Her one-sentence resignation was accepted unanimously by Borough Council last night.

Who on County Council voted for her?

Ferraro voted for her and only God knows why!

Despite her inexperience and lack of integrity, she'd still get a better rating from the ABA than Leeson. Wow. Whose cornflakes did he poop in?

Her son being one of the lifeguards would explain a lot about what occurred during the drowning and her attitude afterward.

Her legacy a mixed bag in Bangor. She is now NH counties problem/problem solver..take your pick. Adios Cathy....

Good Riddence!!

Riddance is the correct spelling and yes..that is a fair statement under the circumstances to hold.

Her ties to Marino Saveri loom large now also as the pending sale of former boro land now owned by the Boro Authority is under his leadership and control. A large conflict of interest would come into play if a vote was needed to approve such a sale and the lands development. She knows too much and needs to get out of the way before things get rough in Bangor.

GOOD Riddance!!! happy?

Don't try to lessen the incident. "Drowning" or "Drowned" is proper use when talking about victims. Even those who survive.
Drowning is defined as respiratory impairment from being in or under a liquid. It is further classified as by outcome into: death, ongoing health problems and no ongoing health problems. Using the term near drowning to refer to those who survive is no longer recommended. ~ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drowning

Ferraro, Geissinger and Vaughn voted for her. Ferraro believes virtually all Executive nominations should be approved, and only has ever voted against one once. I don't fault that reasoning. I believe that, if you think the nominee is unqualified or unethical, you have to say no.

Big win for Bangor, big lose for NorCo citizens. Textbook Peter Principle at work, facilitated by Brown.

Ok..I'll lay off the near drowning but tragedy averted stays. A life was saved by the actions of bystanders/hired help? Still don't know the facts as no word from the boro as to what exactly transpired at the pool that day. Everything has been reactionary to the event. When will the boro come clean with the public as to what happened? Probably never..

Yes, it was a tragedy averted and I'd also like to read an "official" Bangor version of events. Seems too many bystanders report it wasn't the lifeguards who prevented a tregedy.

*tragedy

Fear of litigation rules. Say nothing. In time it will go away. No comment. Screw transparency in government. The public doesn't need to know what we know. On and on it goes..

Allen must be pissed that her benefactor Brownie has chosen another appointee for county administrator. In her own arrogance she thought that over time she would get the job regardless of her lack of qualifications or council's will. I will give Brown credit for seeking out another appointee with superior credentials. Let's hope that if appointed Campos will be able to supervise his disgruntled deputy!

Burning your bridges lessens the ability to retreat when faced with superior opposition. No turning back now for her. Be thankful for what you have..

She is probably more qualified than the Campos guy. he is a Chamber and LVEDC plant. The guy never managed more than himself.

Ms. Allen still has more experience managing people than Mr. Campos. Mr.; O'Hare can not face that fact as he is on a mission of hate. However, despite his management of the facts there is no doubt as to how Mr. Campos got this job. He is the pick of the leaders of LVEDC and the LV Chamber. Now we all know who will run Northampton County government.

It does appear that the LV Bluebloods are firmly in control of JB and they call the shots. Big money talks very loudly indeed.

Anon 6:29 - sour grapes, Cathy. Your boss had enough sense to appoint a far more qualified individual than you. Your nomination went down in flames and now your bitterness towards Mr. Campos begins. Your resignation and return to Bangor Borough would be much appreciated by the county's citizens.

I doubt 6:29 is Allen.
