As a Republican I will vote for Wild as been down this road before as will my entire family. Marty I just cannot stomach another politician with the "I did not do or did not".... He should stay on his cycle and pedal elsewhere. Wild has this is the bag without the "baggage". Morganelli should run a write in campaign.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Many more people will come out and tell about the true Marty as the election draws closer. As a lifelong republican and cyclist who has known Marty for many years, I will vote for anyone other than Marty.

I accidentally deleted this comment from VOR: "Where does one go to get one's good name back?

I don't care who you vote for. But I detest the dishonesty here as well as the absolute disregard for innocent people.

Bernie, Re: your article in the Beth Press -- I believe it is Sydney Australia, not Sidney

You are correct and I will notify my editor.

I appreciate the correction.

To be honest, it doesn't matter to me. I do feel bad if he was unjustly accused. However, I will not vote for anyone who is associated with Trump.

7:16, I understand. This is about the newspaper's obligation to be fair. It muddied Nothstein up with undefined allegations of sexual misconduct, and initially REFUSED to tell readers it had been offered affidavits and meetings with the supposed victims. It did not do so until AFTER the first news conference. So by implication, it accused Nothstein of sexual misconduct, damaging his reputation and making it more difficult for him to get endorsements or other deals. It acted with reckless disregard for the truth.

It is little wonder Nothstein has retained counsel. Since the paper has been careful to say no one at the velodrome will talk to them, there is little doubt in my money that the Velodrome leaked this story, even the names of the women. The Morning Call allowed itself to be used.

"The Morning Call allowed itself to be used."

Is that like you being used by the Morganelli camp to continue to sabotage the Susan Wild campaign over a make believe slight. Get over it. Your boy lost. Saddling people with another Trump clone in Congress is a bit much to take for your petty anger.

The Morning Call was a willing participant, in that their political slant is decidedly left. Everyone reporting has a dog in the fight. Journalism is about activism. Facts are fluid. The mission is not. Nothstein has taken a solid haymaker to the jaw. The facts may be sorted out later. Advocacy requires broad strokes and timeliness. For the moment, mission accomplished.

I wanted to compliment the Bethlehem Press for publishing O'Hare's frank piece, hopefully it will appear the same in their hard copy. Unfortunately only their subscribers can comment directly on their site.

The Express' opening, "Marty Nothstein may not fully know the amount of political damage he suffered...until the night of Nov. 6."

While, one could argue how the MCall handled it (e.g., not wanting to even look at the offered rebuttal from the women), in the bigger picture, having learned there was an investigation of a candidate for office has to be reported. The MCall didn't start the investigation, SafeSport did. What if the investigation had a different result, and the Call had not reported it? What if they found out about an investigation about Wild, and sat on it? They have to report what is newsy, even if we can debate about how they report it.

Anyway, I honestly do not think this will have much impact on the election. It is often said that "all politics is local," and that the public "may hate Congress, but like our own congressman." And, maybe that still would have somewhat been the case if Dent were running again. However, there is no incumbent in the race, and this year in particular the 7th race is going to be more about national/Trump events, than whoever is in front of the D or R on the ballot. Nothstein and Browning were falling over each other in the primary in professing their fidelity to Trump. While D's may be energized, and will vote "for" Wild, she will also benefit from those voters (including independents, and moderate and former Republicans) who will vote not "for her" but hold their nose and vote (at least this year) "against" what has become the party of Trump; same result. So, back to my opening, unless Wild does something incredibly stupid between now and then, I don't think this story (pre-Labor Day, nonetheless) will have any bearing on the election results.

Really? The newspaper did a number of articles bashing the congressional campaign of Democrat Sam Bennett when she ran over Properties of Merit. The newspaper went after Democrat Lisa Boscola over her drinking and also went after her Chief of Staff over his sexist remarks hon this very blog, killing her congressional hopes before they got started. At the same time, it refused to say a word when Jenn Mann was carrying on with a married lobbyist and acting as a "consultant" for businesses looking for Commonwealth contracts. It also refused to tell the truth about Fed Ed and made life difficult for Allentown reporters who wanted to do so until the FBI raided City Hall.

I believe the paper has bashed some Democrats and has protected others. I believe the paper tends to be pro-establishment, but do not see much political bias.

Its coverage of Nothstein is clearly unfair.

I tend to agree, but the point of my story is to wash off the mud smeared by The Morning Call in an uncharacteristic shoddy piece of journalism.

Everything else aside-- neither of these candidates are very good choices based on the issues alone they're running on. Looks like once again voters are stuck with the lesser of two evils.

Bernie, you asked the key question at Nothstein's first press conference about The Morning Call and the affidavits. How did you know?

The Velodrome executive committee, including Andy Ralston and Heidi Rodale as well as the Morning Call need to be sued for millions. They are all guilty of collusion to defame Marty Nothstein’s character. Not to mention the slime who perpetrated this lie in the first place. A subpoena of the Lower Macungie police department and /or the Lehigh County DA’s office should determine who the annomous tipster was and he or she should be prosecuted and sued for all they are worth. This would be whether they are from Susan Wild’s camp or a member of the Republican establishment who can’t get over Dean Browning losing the primary.

This will become national news and a deciding factor in the campaign. The surprise will be who it helps...and I don’t believe it will help the pro-abortion, socialist, tax everyone who works for the benefit of those who don’t, coddle illiegal aliens candidate....who happened to be solicitor for the most corrupt administration in the history of Allentown. We do not need another liberal lawyer in Washington. The place is already overrun with them and she surely will not represent hard working taxpayers well. Her vote will just be another liberal rubber stamp for the extreme left. WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!

Aside from sheer propaganda, shoddy journalism is what The Morning Call does best.

Congratulations to anon 10:36 you have turned your comment into an attack on Susan Wild. Your comment will stand. Mr. O'Hare wants to see Susan Wild lose so he will do all he can to cover for Nothsteins bad behavior and let the slurs hit Wild.

Posts that refer to not another Trump clone and lemming will go away. Posts that simply say despite Mr. O'Hare's anger at Ms. Wild the idea of another bobbing head Trumpeter is just to dangerous to comprehend is gone.
However, you keep braying on about liberal lawyers of the extreme left and you are in great shape!

Mr. O'Hare why do you pretend to be fair yet it is clear what your intentions are? You are whitewashing the Nothestein affair and allowing vile attacks on Ms. Wild.

Bernie O'Hare said...

I allowed two anonymous attacks at Nothstein and one at Wild.as I indicated, this story is not about who deserves your vote. It is about fairness in reporting.

Funny that the Morning Call headline said that Nothstein claimed the governing body cleared him, when all they had to do was call them. Horrible journalism.
