Seth Vaughn: "Retirements Happen"

So does shit.

Last year, there was a record number of 139 retirements in Northampton County. To put this in perspective, that's 2 1/2 times the normal retirement rate. Obviously, something is rotten in the State of Northampton County.

But just as Horatio told Marcellus, Seth Vaughn is saying, "God will direct it."

As employees jump off the S.S. Northampton County, Vaughn is in la la land, re-arranging the deck chairs. Here's some of what he had to say at last Thursday's Council meeting.
"Retirements happen. Whether it happens a lot now or next year, there's really no way of predicting that. To sit there and try to pin it on the Executive by saying, 'Well, the Executive's policies are causing all these retirements,' I think is biased and I don't think it's objective.  ... There's really no way of telling whether these retirements happened at one time or not. ... These people are looking for good replacements. There's a process here."
Translated, Horatio Vaughn is still carrying water for John Brown, as other GOP Council members distance themselves from him. Then he lashed out at Controller Steve Barron, stating again that there's a resolution calling on him to resign.

Lamont McClure refuted Vaughn's claims of politics as usual.
"That's always what you fall back on. ... It's not Lamont McClure. I'm bringing this to your attention because you are the governing body of Northampton County. ... It's the President Judge of Northampton County. It's the Administrator of the Courts of Northampton County. It's the District Attorney of Northampton County. It's the independently elected - I know you have problems with him - Controller of Northampton County, who came here to tell you there are huge issues ... . And yes, I do think there was a substantive act that the County Executive took to force all these retirements, and that was the change in health insurance."

Vaughn is a lightweight who like a toy dog just likes yapping and nipping at heels. It is surprising that Barron is taking it. He seems shaken by the empty threats by Vaughn and his equally clueless sidekick Mat (that's with one t dammit) Benol. Together Benol and Vaughn don't have enough mental voltage to power a pinwheel but they seem to have Little Stevie Blunder on the ropes. Instead of timidly waddling to the podium at council meetings and immaturely referring to its members as "guys" Barron should grow a pair and defend himself against these jokers. They are providing cover for the WORST executive in the county's history, and Barron needs to continue to expose corruption in the Brown administration.

Apparently Seth did not like something Steve said from the back of the room. It is clear though that he keeps speaking out and following up on information.

Bernie... Kind of on topic have you noticed that some positions are being filled very quickly while others remain open. Several department positions have been filled by folk close to Brown and his consultants, but the courts are left to begging for crumbs.

Any word on what's happening?

Bernie how do people like Vaughn and Benol get elected. How bad were the Democrats running for county council? They must have been really bad for these guys to have won. What a mess.

Unfortunately most people vote party line not with their own brain!

I appreciate the shrinking, whether organic or by another means. The gravy train has arrived at its terminus.

you are showing your one sidedness again. No comments on the similar event in Lehigh.

well, yeah, they did. don't think you meant to say that Seth.

But presuming we know what ya meant, you're still wrong.

Exit interviews?

It's amazing how easy it is to get caught up in politics. I've made that mistake. Seth please take a small step back and open your eyes.

Just shows how out of touch he is! My God do you need a consultant to tell you why the large number of retirerments? Please vote to get rid of these fools!

Enjoy your one term ride at county Seth. Those retirements have consequences..big ones! As county services nose dive..your political stock dives accordingly. What a disappointment you and JB are. Your smug attitude is distressing and down right scary.

Should have voted for Mezzacappa, NorCo got the government they deserve.

Too many pigs feeding at the trough, anyway.

As one of the 139, I know John Brown created a hostile work place. Not just because of the health increases, but by how we were treated. Not filling positions, pushing everyone to try to do the work of 2 or 3, and yet hire or promote friends and political payback at much higher salaries than any of us ever received, created too much stress for all of us. On top of that is how the county is now perceived as a joke, when in fact, it's all about John Brown. The end does not justify the means.

vote for mezzalazy! yeah right. the only pig at the trough is you. keep lapping it up.

Yeah - imagine her campaign - "I've been found guilty of harassment of a municipal official and defamation. I can't find a job, and I disparage those who work their butts off for meager pay. Vote for me - I'll represent your interests."

Bernie, Vaughn says there is no evidence to suggest the retirements are due to the Executives' policies???

This is simple: Just ask those retiring why they are retiring. Didnt they all show up at Council to say why they were retiring??

What more proof does Vaughn need?? That IS the proof. They told us why. Didn't they, Bernie??

Bernie O'Hare said...

Absolutely. Vaughn is treying to find an excuse foir a bad Executive while other Rs finally recognize they need to govern.

I will find out if possible.

O'Donnell and Borso were pretty bad, but the other Dems were top notch. Benol is as dumb as a box of rocks, something he proves every time he opens his mouth. Vaughn is a slithering snake who refers to the workforce as a gang, is untroubled by the mass exodus and whose attendance record reveals that he has no time for the people.

Now, Bernie. I had a Pet Rock in the 70's that was smarter than Benol. Stop insulting our ancient earthly companions with such a comparison.

Jim Gregory endorsed Deb Hunter, too bad he was disenfranchised by the political machinery operated by team Bedlum's old guard.

Anonymous said...

Why do people on this blog still talk about Jim Gregory as if he is or was some force in politics? Gregory IS and HAS been a joke for a long time. Doesnt he and his one supporter know that no one ever took him seriously? He has NO CLOUT- NONE!! He did not have ANYTHING to do with Brown's election or Callahan's defeat. He is now in Jail, and no one is even thinking about him except on this blog. He influences NO ONE!! He still thinks he is so important that busy people like the Judge, the DA, and Callahan all got together to put him in jail when he , HIMSELF put him in jail!!!

Am I wrong here Bernie??

Bernie O'Hare said...

You are absolutely right. The only reason people take any interest at all is because we all have a fascination with watching car wrecks or burning houses. People enjoyed watching him self-destruct, although Mezzacappa helped put him behind bars.

I suspect that when he finally does get out, it won't be for long.

Anonymous said...

your right Seth- it has nothing to do with brown and his changes... idiot.

Jim Gregory got Sletvold elected. he delivered the Dem vote and the unions thru his Unity PAC. He will be out soon, and has eyes on a run for council and controller.

John Brown wishes he had 10 Jim Gregorys!

Bernie O'Hare said...

Jen Sletvold got Jen Sletvold elected. She outworked everyone. Jim Gregory had nothing to do with her win. I don't know how a PAC that is not even registered can be credited with her victory, but insaniacs make ridiculous claims all the time.

James Garfield was assassinated by a mentally troubled man who claimed he was responsible for that president's victory. Gregory is very much like that man.

Anonymous said...

Way to go Seth, your showing the county who you truly are.

Anonymous said...

This Gregory stuff is so funny!! Gregory has an delusion that the unions listen to him. They threw him out!! The union guys threw him off their board, and it is they who think he is the BIGGEST JOKE. Again, he cannot and NEVER did get anyone elected other than himself. No one takes him seriously. They laugh at him. He is pure entertainment.

His Unity PAC haad and has NO MONEY!! Therefore, it is a meaningless empty bank account that influences no one. Am I wron here Bernie??

Bernie O'Hare said...

he Unity PAC never existed. It is a figment of his and Trica Mezacappa's imagination.

Anonymous said...

2:34 you are very wrong about the impact Unity PAC had on the county elections, people may not be shouting from the rooftops singing JG's praise's but if you were to ask them privately it would be a different story.

Jim is an excellent pen pal and has been organizing the inmates to seek reform from abusive practices, the pillows are filthy and mattresses inadequate. His rights have been violated on so many levels it's amazing he can keep a compassionate outlook and Christ in his life.

Bernie O'Hare said...

Just like Garfield's assassin. Christ was in his life, too.

Anonymous said...

Unity Pac cannot have impact bc it has no MONEY-- no one knows it is around It is a Joke. PACs have impact ONLY WHEN they buy tv ads and send out a messgae that is heard. Unity Pac never did a thing and had no impact. People who think otherwise are delusional

Anonymous said...

Unity PAC's endorsements were heard in thousands of homes, and are preserved to this day. The message is there for those who are brave enough to hear it.

You all mock Mr. Gregory because he is in prison. The victim of circumstances that trapped him. The truth is he is well known as an astute political consultant.

You only attack him because he is in prison. When he is out he will match wits with any of you. His mind is sharp and his abilities helped many candidates win. Just ask John Brown.

Bernie, I am convinced the Republican sweep in 2013 was a function of Republican turnout. I saw most of the candidates both D's and R's out hustling, so "hard work" is a given for most of the candidates.

Another factor is money. One of the candidates told me that he was amazed at how things have changed and the amount of money it costs for even a council race today. Geissinger spent a ton and had in-kind services. Then you also had the Executive candidates sucking up all the political cash

Then of course their is coat- tails. Not as big a deal as some think but I think it had an impact in that race. Most R's and many D's were out to stop Callahan. He was toxic. Hell, Dem's in Bethlehem were cheering his loss. The problem was that the big anti-Callahan push hurt the entire Dem ticket and may have accounted for one even two Democrats not making it.

Heard a rumor that Callahan may run again in 2017, I hope not. Not that I think he is bad but I don't think he can win and history would repeat itself. He can't win Bethlehem big and without that he is toast.

"You all mock Mr. Gregory because he is in prison. The victim of circumstances that trapped him."

Yup, the circumstances are what victimize everyone in State Prison, you know. Hey, even MezzaLooney is a victim of circumstance every time they find her guilty of something. It's always someone or something's fault.

How can one resist mocking Gregory after reading the incessant rants of his that his whacked out associate posts on her website? The guy has either lost or never had half his brain cells.

"Jim is an excellent pen pal and has been organizing the inmates to seek reform from abusive practices, the pillows are filthy and mattresses inadequate. His rights have been violated on so many levels it's amazing he can keep a compassionate outlook and Christ in his life."

Go cry in your cocoa. "Jim" violated someone else's rights, and he put himself where he is. Pillows filthy and mattresses inadequate? Give me a break. Hopefully Barrister Martino is experiencing the same. It's State Prison, not a Boy Scout Jamboree.

What percentage of inmates "found Christ"? 99%? Big surprise. You find someone who wraps himself in Christ - he's probably insulating himself from reality.

How can you read that garbage he spews forth? A great "pen pal"? You need some new friends.
