Persistence Pays Off

From age 6, when he first played for Wall to Wall, to age 15, when he plays for Becahi's varsity and JV squads, Dat has always been happiest when he's playing basketball. When he was little, he even took shots in his sleep. Tonight, Dat will be starting for Becahi's Golden Hawks when they host heavily favored Liberty.  You don't need to tell him to give it 100%. He'll do that. But you can wish him luck.

The team will be playing without its only senior and team leader, Freddie Simmons. He's visiting a college in Florida.

Good Luck Dat!

Saw Dat against Emmaus...quick, good handle, nice shot, great attitude on the court The kid's a star both on and off the court!

However, we may need to have Lou Hershman audit the stats because I'm not sure about that guy Becahi has keeping the stats.

Yeah, he's pretty bad. if only we had Lou.

How does he play for both varsity and JV? I thought it was one or the other.

JV players can always play up if there is room on the roster. Bernie, you deserve some kudos for helping to raise a great kid. I'll be watching Dat in the years ahead. I am sure he will develop into a great player.

No. Several high schools double-roster their kids. A younger player like Dat needs all the time he can get on the court. Under PIAA rules, I believe playing time is limited to 48 minutes, or 6 full quarters.

10:21, Thanks, but this is all Dat. He loves sports, but is a fanatic about basketball.

You have to take credit for teaching him ankle-breaking crossover dribbles, Bernie.

11:10,
You should be deleted, just for being an asshole.

Saw the game on RCN. Suggestion for you Bernie - buy some BECA shirts if you are going to strategically sit so you get camera time. The Steeler shirt just doesn't cut it.
Looking forward to a hopeful Beca-Nazarth game in the upcoming Holy Family tournament.

At least Bernie has a job, and people owe him money. Not everyone can say that.

I wish, but his teachers were guys like Chuck Rockmore, Emil Giordano, Ted Street, Rodney Robinson, Criag Golden, Dom Italiani and the coaches he has now.

11:10, who is a jealous asshole, was deleted. I became a Freddie fan watching him play basketball. He is the most selfless player on that team. His teammates are proud that he is visiting UCF.

Yes, The Steelers shirt is one of my favorites. But as my father used to tell me, you can't shine shit, so it would not matter if i wore a Beca shirt.

I don't know if we've been invited, but will find out. We'd like a second shot at Nazareth.

I have never used a press pass to attend a game, and always pay. if I am early for a JV game, I step outside before the varsity game and pay. Some people say the nastiest things when they don't have to say who they are.

A mutual friend was looking for you in Emmaus at Tuesday's game.

close one tonight...

you could tell by the size of his hands on the ball in the younger pic that he was going to grow into a player as he matured.

Don't typically root for BeCa (ha) but wish him personal good luck.

It may be persistence, but it's also love.

Too bad they lost. But 7 points in the role he played is excellent. Hope he continues to follow his dreams and works hard. He is awesome and the sky is the limit. Should be beyond proud.

I'll have a little story about that game on Monday. I was so impressed by Becahi's boys and their bitter rivals at Liberty. All were class acts. The coaches have taken the team to PSU today to watch a game.
