Christians Losing Heads in Syria ... Literally

In disturbing news for the Lehigh Valley's large Lebanese and Syrian Christian communities, the Vatican has confirmed that a Catholic priest and another Christian in Syria have been beheaded by an extremist rebel sect calling itself Jabhat al-Nusra.

With a kitchen knife.

Now that we're supplying rebels with weapons, they'll use better knives.

But look on the bright side.

They could be Jews.

Not funny! Gregory is rubbing off on you.

Peaceful religion, alright. McCain is supporting these animals. There's a reason he graduated last in his class from Annapolis. Obama's foreign policy makes me want W back. What a mess.

Your comment about Jews is totally offensive. Your anti Semitism is something you and your best friend Jim apparently have in common.

Begs the question: Are you drinking again?

They could be Gays...

Funny BO, you supported Obama and called anyone who didn't a teabagger or racist. Now he is suppling these thugs with guns and taking them away from US citizens. Now those same thugs (we are not allowed to call them terrorist anymore) are cutting off heads of Christians. But under Obama that is ok unless they are gay.

Take that ridiculous article down immediately. Your comments are not funny. They are offensive. You're stepping over the line Bernie. Suggesting it could be brighter if we beheaded jews???????????????R U NUTZ.

It is called sarcasm.

The whole point is that these extremist Muslims hate Jews even more than they hate Christians. When they get their hands on them, if they ever do, there will be an even bigger bloodbath.

You could argue that my post is anti-Christian, anti-Semitic or even anti-Muslim. It is none of those things. It is a perhaps too flippant observation that the Jews are in for a rougher time than Christians. I can't help it that your reading skills are poor, or that your hatred of me prevents you from noticing what the hell is happening in the Middle East.

Let me add that I have discussed this subject repeatedly with some friends who are Jews. Extremist Muslims in Syria are targeting Christians. But they hate Jews even more.

I'd venture to say that most of these comments, including one I've deleted about Father Alex, come from the Blog Mentor. He doesn't give a shit about what is going on in Syria, and will make anti-Semitic remarks himself if it suits his agenda.

it is being said in the middle east that first they came for the saturday people,(jews) and now they come for the sunday people. although much is written about the palestinian refugees, over 850,000 jews living in arabs countries were forced to flee to israel between 1948 and 1956, leaving behind their processions and property. prior to israel's creation, their plight in the muslim lands varied from one ruler to another, but they were always subjected to second class citizenship.

bernie's post was not meant as anti-semitic

the vatican, in their official newspaper, confirms the priest's death by gunshot, but denies that it was he who was beheaded. regardless, the fall of the despots has not been good for the christians.

As a Catholic this is infuriating! What a pitiful display! No loving God would EVER condone this behaviour towards on of his children.

I see President Obama is very keen on supporting these anti-Syrian elements. It have read reports that Colonel Qaddafi's weapons and ammo are keeping these anti-Christian Jihadists in business.

I have said it for the last 15 years. The Muslims are the enemy. Enough of this political correctness that states it is the Extremist Radical sect of the Muslim faith that cause all of the terror attacks.99% of all terroist attacks in the last 50 years have been derived from Muslims. Where is their leadership that denounces their actions?! THEIR IS NONE ! Why havent Muslims left their faith knowing this ? To not do anything within their own religion to thwart terror basically condones the radicals.
Therefore...all Muslims are the enemy. Since they all want their 18 virgins in Allah's heaven lets give them what they want by Carpet bombing these rat bastards into oblivion.Diplomacy will never work.

We're learning that any so-called war on "terror," (a tactic) is incomplete, at best. Radical Islam is our enemy. We're too politically correct to call our enemy by its name, let alone fight it.

It's interesting that progressive Copenhagen's city council is nearing a Muslim majority and is considering closing bath houses and using Sharia to address behaviors they consider an affront to Islam.

US Jews vote for Obama in overwhelming numbers and get tax dollars sent to the Muslim Brotherhood. Catholics vote for Obama in overwhelming numbers and get forced to pay for abortions and birth control. WV votes overwhelmingly for Obama and gets their coal mines closed.

Go figure. But don't dare complain about the guy you put in office.

In Feb, Santorum claimed Obama sided w Assad. Same time he advocated for sending troops and arming the rebels.

Gingrich and Romney also support arming the rebels. Spare me the tea.

"I have said it for the last 15 years. The Muslims are the enemy."

And you've been wrong and bigoted the last 15 years. There is very little difference between Islam, Judaism and Christianity. Under your thinking, we should condemn all Christians bc of the few fringe sects that preach hatred, like Westoro baptist.

This is sad. I have empathy. The name Najarian, a Christian Armenian surname, traces back to Kessab Syria, a name from where the Turkish dialect means carpenter, a very common name in the village after the Christian Aremnians fled religious persecution in the 14th and 15th centuries, to Kessab, later to be ravaged again by Turkish extremists in the early part of 1900s. My great aunts and uncles always told me how blessed we were to be in the USA, I never understood until I was much older. -nlv

David, Here, we'll just persecute you for being you. That's the American way!

Just don't make me eat goat head soup. I don't know which is worse, that or bloodwurst. My German Dutch side and my Armenian refugee side, they are always battling it out. I'm so confused! -nlv

It's an anti-christian comment not anti-semite. He is saying its better that they're killing Christians rather than Jews. EITHER way totally unacceptable.

Bernie O'Hare said...

Good. I'd rather not be acceptable.

That's not at all what this post means. Some rebels in Syria are killing Christians, and when those extremists are armed, they will turn their hate to Isreal. Its a post about caution, and I must agree, the US should proceed only with caution. The enenmys of our friends may not be our friends. We must know who we might be dealing with. Our experience in the middle east might have taught us that. We armed the Mujahidin, which became the Taliban, armed Irag over Iran in that war, only to go to war in Irag, and some say, by our acquiessnce encouragd Khomeini in Iran. Its a post about caution! nlv
