NorCo Purchases Phone Soap to Kill Covid-19

Steve Barron uses phone soap
It's called phone soap and is used to sanitize smart phones and other electronic devices. Northampton County recently purchased 289 of these devices. Though he's now too thin to play Santa Claus, Fiscal Affairs Director Steve Barron was tasked with distributing them as follows:

County facilities - 99

Schools - 61

Police departments - 43

Libraries, community centers and city halls - 26

Municipalities (one each) - 37

Local nonprofits and emergency shelters - 12

Senior Centers - 11

It takes about 10 minutes to clean one phone.

Each of these sanitizers costs about $160, and was purchased with CARES Act money.

And two seconds after wasting 10 minutes and lots of money, your phone is filthy again. Do these brain surgeons ever read an Amazon review before spending our money on wasteful things like this? With budgets so tight at home during this mess, it's difficult to dispute that our government really hates us and wishes us ill.

For the 99 that are going to county facilities, will McClure and council be giving employees $750 each time these devices are used?

I can’t believe I lived as long as I have without realizing that germs existed before 2020. With all this over-sanitizing of everything, welcome to the Age of the Pandemic. Building up one’s natural immunity will be a thing of the past and we have show, as a people, that we will fall in line and do as we are told. Today social distancing and masks, tomorrow HazMat suits. P.S. A quick wipe of my phone with ammonia water works for me. Been doing that for years.

How do you sanitize the outside of the device after everyone opens it with their grubby, germ filled hands? Another waste of taxpayers' money. Oh but wait! It doesn't cost the county a dime. Just pick Uncle Sam's pocket for this frivolous purchase. "As seen on Shark Tank." Wonder if Barron is one of their crowd funders?

Cares Act money is supposed to be spent on COVID-related expenses. Since COVID is spread through droplets in the air and not on surfaces, how could this purchase qualify? Plus who shares their cell phones with others? There is no anti-spread benefit. Another rip-off of a federal program by slimy bureaucrats like Barron.

289 x $160 = $46,240 completely wasted. Think about this when our betters tell us they need more dough and/or we're not paying enough to support the essential functions of government.

Another reason to vote McClure out next election. He and his administration waste our money. Why is it that Baron's people are the only employees getting raises EACH year while others only get COLA's. Vote them out!

Well, since you asked, I have a product for that. It's called Phone Soap-Soap. It's larger than Phone Soap so naturally it costs more. And you'll need one unit of Phone Soap-Soap for every unit of Phone Soap.

Now if you're worried about the Phone Soap-Soap getting germy, our folks in the Research & Development Department are working on something. And we'll get it to market very quickly - as soon as our government grant gets here.

All career service employees received 3 per cent. Union workers were paid as per their contract. 9:37 has no clue.

Imagine my surprise seeing all these negative responses.. NOT

But it's wasted government money anyway! He looks so proud. Meanwhile drive through the Lehigh Valley and you will notice many homeless camps. Working families suffering over price gouging, etc.. This holiday season is horrible, at the expense of the great "2nd stimulus package".

I can see his smirk under that mask.

They just waste money in order to give things away to get votes. It may be CARES Act money but there is no law claiming you MUST spend it. Send it back. This is political gamesmanship. McClure is working hard to hand out favors across the county. You know this but you are now in his cabinet as Director of Propaganda.

LVCI, My guess is that most come from one or two people.

McClure is a buffoon. Maybe he's good at his job maybe not, but he is good at wasting tax payer monies. Ever look at the new signs at all COUNTY parks? He had to have his name put every one of those signs. I'm sure it didn't cost a fortune to have his name added to the signs but what happens when he is voted out? Someone go out with a hammer and chisel to remove it? It's these little ways that he continues to waste money.
