In the Big Ten, there's a Big Two, and that's Lehigh and Northampton County. Together, we are 42% of the population of the Big Ten.
Right now, we've been red-shirted. Before we can get in the game of actually working again, we need to drop to a new -case rate of 806 for 14 consecutive days.
Dr. Steve Thode, the retired Director of Real Estate Studies at Lehigh University, has kindly prepared a colorized chart showing the daily new Covid-19 cases over the past two weeks. As you can see, the virus has been strongest in the Lehigh Valley.
In a second chart, Dr. Thode shows the 14-day new case rate for the 10-county region. The peak occurred on April 15 - the first half of April was fugly. As the number of new cases continues to drop (hopefully), so, too, will the 14-day rate. Still, a long way to go to get to 806.
I sure would hate to be Wayne or Susquehanna County.
They are totally screwed.

With two municipalities already announcing that pools won’t open for the summer, more are bound to follow. While the decision may be understandable, I feel horribly for the children who have had little activity since mid-March and now face a hot summer with no relief — or fun. At some point, life must return to normal because this quarantine and the 24/7 barrage of focus on it may be worse than the disease itself. I would like a psychologist to weigh in on the impact this is having on people.

it isn’t just Democrats. It includes all politicians who fail to speak out and reject this destruction of America. If they are in position to fight back, and don’t, they are no longer needed.

This is the first I’m reading this, 6:52. Let’s just say, Musikfest isn’t really what it claims to be. Never has been.
I saw Mayfair was cancelled. Didn't hear anything about Musikfest (yet), but might have missed it.
Hospitals are opening up again for elective surgeries. Obviously, the quarantine has done what it was supposed to do and the surge curve has been bent.
It is time to start to open the economy, put blue collar and small business people back to work. These folks need to take care of their family. With the State doing a horrible job and unemployment not making it out for weeks yet, what are these people supposed to do?
How bout this, keep the Lehigh Valley closed and we all just go to the places next door that are open? There you go, problem solved.

22 million unemployed; devastated economy to shrink by 5%; trillions in new debt; countless dead from inability to get preventative tests and procedures due to lockdown; domestic abuse skyrocketing, suicide rate up; people circling the drain financially .....
Looks like we'll end up slightly worse than the 14-15 and 17-18 flu seasons. Time to call it, folks. We've been had.

Gov. Wolf is doing a good job. I'm amazed at all the people here who obviously believe they know so much more, and they're absolutely sure of it.
However, it's becoming clear that Americans overwhelmingly support the shutdowns.
Try a little humility, who don't you?

I know you think you're being clever, but most of us can see that you are far from it.
Opening up will cost lives. That's not to say that we shouldn't open up somewhat, but the devil is in the details.
I know that you "shutdowns are oppression" types don't want to admit the health issues.

Most here have been arguing where the proper balance lies. It's the sanctimonious that have been trying to position this as a pure "lives vs. money" argument.
Shutdowns can be oppressive if they're overdone. Even though I suspect you really know this, you can't bring yourself to yield ground on a debating point.
10:31- was that an independent study? Or, did the faculty members conducting it receive funding from an outside source? Most every academic research effort is funded by a Grant.
Besides, I won’t even bother to read it. I have seen how numbers can easily be skewed to produce whatever result the sponsor is looking for.

That IHME model has been wrong since Day 1. As I recall, it started somewhere around 2.4M US deaths.
I suppose once we get to August they'll be spot on.
FWIW, looks like the upward revisions are mostly in the "shutdown states."

When will everyone finally admit the numbers being thrown about have been “cooked?” Evidence of creative numbers management is everywhere. Start by looking at the new way deaths are being coded. Next, consider how hospitals and states qualify for the greatest amount of Federal monies to deal with all this.

Look at the polling, cupcake. People overwhelming believe that appropriate measures have been taken, and as many believe that more should have been done as less.
Even those state capital protests, which were produced with Trump money, produce only a relative handful of people.

Wolf is an asshole but the pa voter elected him twice his home county knew him and voted him down--but pa voters voted him in--this is the results--a dictator who hurts his people and we are all not in this together-- the politicians the media and tv people nall have their salaries--they are not losing money like we are
The numbers for covid are most definitely being manipulated..no mention of recovery..no mention of age or underlying health issues..no mention of how much is given from taxpayer money to fund what could be deemed covid related.plenty of opportunity for corruption. Something tells me once November comes..this will all " magically" go away. Hey ask yourself why certain people are against a legit debate between the President and Mr. Biden.
