Dr. Deborah Birx, the White House coronavirus response coordinator, now wants you to stop buying food and medicine.
From NPR: "The next two weeks are extraordinarily important," said Birx. "This is the moment to not be going to the grocery store, not going to the pharmacy, but doing everything you can to keep your family and your friends safe and that means everybody doing the six-feet distancing, washing their hands."
Does she think we all have servants who can risk their lives for us for a pittance? These folks are getting ridiculous. It's certainly true, though, that you'll avoid Covid-19 if you're already dead.

Have to say, both Fauci and Brix are looking more and more like typical bureaucrats enjoying attention. They have LONG careers in government (politics). Such careers are NOT an automatic indicator of common sense. Just look at Career Members of Congress!
Both of our visible medical experts are mostly just walking a tightrope. I have come to the opinion BOTH need to be off-stage more. Lately, they offer nothing really new. Actually, BOTH seem reluctant to address that ‘Hydrocloriquine (SP?) growing evidence of blunting COVID-19.
I notice when the term comes up, BOTH keep their heads still. Yet, nod for most all else. I find it curious.
Bottom line. No one, including President Trump, is absolutely certain what to do. He even reveals this often with “We will have to see what happens.’ He does seem more certain, however, our PRESENT condition in response MUST change sooner, rather than later. I Agree wholeheartedly!

The evidence is unclear. Two studies (one from France and one from China) report some benefit for patients with mild symptoms. A third study, just released, shows it is ineffective. https://news.yahoo.com/small-trial-finds-hydroxychloroquine-not-124054137.html

The idea that the combination of hydroxychloroquine with an antibiotic drug, azithromycin, was effective against COVID-19 gained more attention after a study published on March 17. This study described a trial of 80 patients carried out by Philippe Gautret in Marseille, France. Although some of their results appeared to be encouraging, it should also be noted that most of their patients only had mild symptoms. Furthermore, 85% of the patients didn’t even have a fever – one of the major telltale symptoms of the virus, thus suggesting that these patients likely would have naturally cleared the virus without any intervention.
If you tested positive and had no symptoms why take the change that your immune system will handle it.
Stop being a drama queen. They are warning that the coming week is not the time to be grocery shopping or going to the pharmacy if it can be avoided. If you can get by with what you've already hoarded avoid visiting these places.

And how come we haven't heard the milk, eggs and bread stories like we do when a snow storm is coming, locking us in our houses for maybe 48 hours.

3:05, I watched the news conference. She absolutely said what she is reported top have said. Also, along these lines, some poor woman in York has now been charged by a state trooper for getting out of the house and going for a little drive. You folks are little Nazis.

Our entire federal and state response is being conducted by crisis actors. Blix doesn't look like she's missing any meals.

I agree with the recommendation, with the caveat of needed trips obviously being excluded.
I needed to restock last weekend and was appalled at the number of people checking out that seemed to only have a day's worth of groceries in their cart.
Also heard from a person who works at a local grocery store that they see many of the same people there each day. Apparently, it's their excuse for getting out of the house, but it ends up over-crowding the stores.
