NorCo To Offer Affordable Housing Grants

Northampton County will begin accepting applications for 2019 Affordable Housing Program (AHP) grants on July 15th . These are limited to eligible non-profits, public agencies, local governments, government authorities and private, low-income housing providers. But for some reason,low-income housing providees are ineligible.

These middlemen can use the grant money to maintain or increase the availability of quality affordable housing for NorCo residents whose annual incomes are below 80% of the household median income for the County using the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Section 8 income limits for 2019.

Applications close September 13, 2019. Details and applications can be found on the Department of Community and EconomicDevelopment’s (DCED) webpage:

The money for this comes from realty transfer tax.

Bernie, you make fun of some people's spelling and typing abilities. Just want to point out that your first sentence of the second paragraph doesn't make sense.

I cannot get your link to NCDCED to work. When I navigated to the DCED website through the main county website, the only AHP notice I could find related to 2018 funds. This program sourced through real estate transfer taxes has potential merit without significant negative impact on regular county tax payers. If however the 2018 total available funding of $200,000 holds true for 2019, the impact of the program will be very limited in terms of the meeting the overall affordable housing needs of Northampton County. If any county DCED officials read this, perhaps they can update the program information on the website.

Great way to draw welfare recipients from NY and NJ.

Yay! More subsidization of poor life choices! The free market needs docile consumers!

I fixed my error.

I will continue to delete gibberish.

How the hell do you know that people who need affordable housing have made poor life choices? What are those? Being born to poor parents? Having never been educated ? Having never been able to get a decent job? Please enlighten us?

You are an ugly person.

While I doubt these grants do much good because they go thru middlemen, I find your unsympathetic attitude disgusting. For assholes like you, it is not "America first," but "me first."

Well, through analyzing statistics about who needs public housing we can get a good idea of what the people are like and generally they involve people who made poor life choices. In order to have an "American First" attitude we have to unsubsidize the dead weight this country seems to be carrying around. I could care less about me, I didn't make poor life choices and will be fine, I'm just saying that if you give subsidize something you get more of it. That is economic fact brother.

Do you want me to post the statistics and information?

Here is some information to start with.

Yeah, I do, and your stats do NOT back up your assertion that these are people who made poor life choices. If anything, they point out that particular housing assistance programs like Section 8 can be ineffective. You fix the flaws, but do not make sweeping generalizations about others.

You go ahead with your unAmerican "me first" attitude. Trump will love you.

Yes, the system is ineffective! Not the people. It is the system! If there was just a more effective system we wouldn't have this problem.

I have spent a great deal of my life championing Affordable Housing. And to lump people together who are in need of Housing assistance is just idiotic. I think HUD needs to tighten up the ship and be proactive when it comes to Section 8 vouchers and affordable housing units.

But to criticize people who find these programs helpful and necessary to maintain a quality of life is just wrong. Fix the problem and let me actually see a good program in action for those who qualify for subsidies.

So, your contention is that these people have done nothing wrong to end up in their situation? It all is a tragic accident?

By saying that people did nothing to be in this situation takes away agency from them to a large degree. These people are "intelligent actors making choices that have consequences" and not just people who have been "failed by the system at every turn". You could put any system in place, it just subsidizes a problem.

One of alan jennings many covers of stealing poverty money for personal pockets. Danbury has a cell next to the former mayor as well as many other empty cages for co-consperitors. It is qite convenient that a board member sits on the zoning board.
These people that steal from the poor are the most henious of human life forms!
