Luzerne County Employees Go Unpaid

... because the employee in charge of payroll was on vacation and no one approved the electronic transfer of funds into staff bank accounts.

No surprise. Its Luzerne County. One of the most corrupt and dysfunctional counties in Pa. Surprised they even had enough money to make payroll.

We're so superior here in Northampton County. We have John Brown at the helm - what could go wrong? {looking down nose at Luzerne County}

Happy Holidays! What a shame

Incidents like this happen when governments cut staffing to the bone. There should have been another person authorized to perform the function in the absence of the original.

privatize, get rid of the thing posing as and employee and save money and benefits. problem solved - next!

in response to 6:30........privatize, give county residents less and poorer quality services, and expose the county to endless lawsuits......makes a ton of sense. Do some research on privatized prisons throughout the south and let me know what you think of privatization.

@9:51

Please, comparing outsourcing the payroll function to southern prisons is a joke.

It is cheaper and more cost effective for the taxpayer to have an outside company do the payroll than an inhouse staff, especially if your staff is so small that if one person takes a vacation, the whole county doesnt get paid
