Mayor's Brother to Run For Bethlehem City Council

I think I accidentally met Bryan G. Callahan when I covered last year's commencement at FHS. He is a nineteen year educator in the Bethlehem Area School District and Department Chairperson in Health and Physical Education at Freedom High School. Tomorrow, he will announce his candidacy for Bethlehem City Council. Payrow Plaza. February 12, 2013. 3:30pm.

Callahan's brother John, of course, is Bethlehem's Mayor.

Bryan Callahan was raised in West Bethlehem, and his announcement states he is also a small business owner.

Teachers in politics are very costly to taxpayers.

The guy has homeroom duties then walks around all day long, exercises, eats lunch and goes home so I guess he'll have all the time in the world to be a councilman...

Bryan will represent the city well.

Is he the family member who destroyed the police cruiser that was covered up by dad? What a clan.

No.

I love people who right away start to cast dispersions on people right away. Get to know Bryan and his story. He is well educated and understanding. He will serve well, has been talking about it for years.

I stood right next to him during much of the FHS commencement. He gave me a detention.

Great, just what we need, another teacher on council...

Callahan, John, gets another puppet on City Council (will be pulling strings from afar), Nepotism, another teacher (is there any other talent in this city?), he can sit between Reynolds and Recchiuti, so, John only has to pull one string. And I thought the stench would leave city hall at the end of the year.

"what is the small business?"

That I do not know.

More teachers on local Boards. Just what we need.

Bryan Callahan will be an amazing city council member. This city was lucky to have John be the mayor. It amazes me how much this city has changed but yet in a lot of ways has stayed the same. It has made tremendous strides but yet is still filled with a lot of close minded gossipy people who comment on things they know nothing about

Ok 2:32...when I went to Lehigh all the students wondered why the hell I would want to not only live
In Bethlehem my whole life but also go to school there. Downtown was dead....unless you were a rich old lady that wanted to buy an ugly dress once every 5 years. There were no restaurants. Culture? We knew nothing about it. This city is vibrant now. If you think that happened without John Callahan you are a
Bucket head...that's what the Lehigh kids used to call people from. Bethlehem

Then will you convince President Gast to kick in a few bucks for us bucketheads? Callahan's been after her for years.

All that wasd due to Don Cunningham. He handed off the projects to Callahan.

Ok 3:42 am get some sleep...Donny also did some amazing things but give credit where credit is due...he didnt hold Johns hand for the past ten years

3:42 am? either Donny got home from a bender or he now suffers from insomnia. Don was on council for 2 years and Mayor for 5. Callahan was on council for 6 and Mayor for 10 years. to say some how Don did it all makes no sense and the history and the math simply do not add up. Most of the big stuff Casino Steelstacks LVIP VII etc did not even exist when Don was Mayor. Time for a reality check
