Should Medicare Include Dental?

According to the U.S. House's 2,465-page (and growing) reconciliation bill, dental coverage will finally be included in Medicare. But not 'till 2028. Isn't dental care health care?

It should also cover hearing aids. With most retirees eventually needing hearing aids, its strange that they are not covered under medicare.

Yellow teeth Brits have had dental for years. Canadians don't include it in their cradle-to-grave. You can spot Americans and Canadians a mile away in the UK. Watch what you ask for.

Medicare does not include the shingles vaccine. This seems stupid since shingles hits the elderly and the vaccine is quite expensive.

Agree on shingles. I'm considering but heard the new vax is pricey and reportedly has several days of nasty side effects vs the old one. Off topic, but would like to know others' experience. I've seen a loved one with shingles. I had no idea how debilitating and awful it can be.

Death creeps in through the gums

Yes. I've always said that your medical benefits from any insurance carrier should include dental and optometry. It's crazy that medical benefits cover "the body", but then some insurances won't cover certain parts of the body, seemingly for no rhyme or reason.

There is never any identification of corresponding spending cuts when talking about increasing forced redistribution of wealth schemes so as to at least make the expansions revenue neutral.

Can't eat and stay healthy without teeth! Implants for all would be awesome. Cheaper than constant restoration

Six years seems like a long time to enact a program. If it isn't that important, why do it at all? My guess is it was the way to make the costs work in the overall bill.

Having shingles infection can be very painful with long lasting effects for some people.
A disaster if it spreads to your eye. I received the original vaccine and the newer one that is 2 doses. The two dose vaccine side effect for me was extreme fatigue the next day for about 6 hours. I basically laid on the couch those hours. Next day I was back to normal. Most of my friends felt pretty crappy for about one day and some had headache. My Medicare Part D covered the vaccine but I had to go to pharmacy as plan did not cover at doctor's office. My plan requires flu vaccine at doctor's office. So I always call my health care plan with any questions about vaccines. Doctor's office not always best contact as doctor accepts so many plans and hard for them to stay on top of it.

Imagine we kept most of the billions and now trillions of dollars that we give to other countries, for ourselves. More and more working Americans would be able to retire comfortably and look good in doing so.

Yes it should include dental. IF people cannot eat right they cannot keep healthy. In the long run it would probably save us all money.
