Last week, Judge Stephen Baratta imposed a 12-month probationary sentence on West Easton Constable Tricia Mezzacappa. A jury convicted her in March of lying to state troopers in an attempt to frame a black man with pointing a gun at her head. After hearing the conditions under which she could retain her freedom, Mezzacappa decided she'd rather be in jail.
Her wish has been granted. She was picked up in Berks County on Tuesday without incident and brought to Northampton County jail today.
I will update you after Judge Baratta does whatever he's going to do.

I saw that Matt Dees posted an article on cleaning up the streets of West Easton, and my first thought was it might be about this menace being hauled off to jail.
He also said she stole yard signs, fines at $2500 for each one taken.
There are no charges. Unless this witness actually saw her physically removing signs, I doubt much will come of it.
Rather than attack and demean her, you and Deez should pray for her.
So, what did she get? A year in jail?
She is in jail on a probation violation. AsI indicated, I will report when Judge Baratta decides what to do.
Has anyone made a statement of who is alleged to have taken the signs? All that is in the blog WestEastonPA is "only a cRaZy person would [steal campaign signs]". That does not specifically say who the alleged thief is. While she has commonly been referred to as "cRaZy", let's face it, others in society fit that description. Or am I overlooking an intentional reference intended to identify a specific person without naming name?
As I indicated, there are no charges and I have no intention of speculating what someone else meant.
Thank you for the clarification of what you know. The statement made Apr 30 @ 8:25PM that "he also said she stole yard signs..." appears unsubstantiated at this point. I did not read his blog to make that claim, only that someone would be crazy to steal yard signs - which I do agree with considering all the cameras out there today. It's also petty and stupid.
