Electoral College Voter Peg Ferraro Besieged By Mail

NorCo Council member Peg Ferraro, a Republican, is a member of the Electoral College. She'll be voting for Donald Trump on Monday. But she's under siege. Her phone has been ringing off the hook and she's been inundated with mail. What you see is the mail delivered to her on Thursday alone, and this does not even include the Fed Ex deliveries. They are attempting to persuade her to vote for anyone besides Trump. They need 37 defectors to block him, which would send the race into the House of Representatives.

It seems very unlikely that this last-ditch effort will succeed. Democrats spent too little energy getting their voters to the polls and still fail to grasp that a billionaire had more appeal to the working man than they.

As for me, I think this is history in action. Though I am a Democrat, Peg has allowed me to chronicle her day in the land of midnight raises. She's also bringing her grandchildren to witness the power of one vote.

The delegates will vote the will of the majority vote in Pennsylvania. Of course Ms. Ferraro will vote for Trump, she should since he took the state.

Having said that I am less offended by the letters she received than some of the comments on her facebook. The rightwingnuts caution that if delegates were to switch votes away from Trump it will result in a civil war and that the "right has all the guns".

Are people that crazy this year? Does anyone see what a civil war is doing in Syria? Do they forget the American civil war the bloodiest war in American history?

At the end of the day I didn't vote for Trump cause I think he is a certifiable narcissist without a clue about government. However, he won the state that gave him the electoral votes and he will be the next President. Funny though since if you read the writings of Hamilton one of the reasons for the electoral college was to protect the republic from the masses voting for an unqualified populist personality

More worrisome than Trump, is the loose talk about guns and civil wars that some of these folks like top toss around.
Do you know who the loser is in some class, race, political civil war in this country? America and all of us would be the the losers. Grow the Hell up and stop talking like idiots. As my grandfather would say, "where the hell are your brains?"

Hillary spent twice what Trump spent and lost. She won NYC and LA by 3 million votes and lost the rest of the country by 1 million. The electoral college was designed to protect us from large population centers making decisions for the rest of the country. It worked perfectly.

Before taking office, Trump is settimg the stage to be the most untrustworthy President in US History. His false rehtoric continues after the election. Right now, it is appears the US is for sale. The electoral college vote should be postponed until Trump resolves his countless conflicts of interest. My prediction is that he drags his feet until after the innauguration and never resolves his conflicts. Every decision will be dictated by his own private interest. Trump is the best thing for Obama's legacy.

I'm sure that all of this mail is saying nice things to Ms. Ferraro.

You know, it never seems to end with the Democrats. And if one scheme doesn’t seem to be working, the Democrats simply moves on to another. It would be hard to imagine the pressure these electors are undergoing. And it’s likely to get worse before Monday.

When asked in an October debate about the possibility of Trump not accepting the election results, Hillary said:

"Well, Chris, let me respond to that. Because that's horrifying.

You know, every time Donald thinks that things are not going in his direction, he claims that whatever it is is rigged against him.

That is the way Donald thinks. And it's funny, but it's also really troubling. That is not the way our democracy works. We've been around for 240 years, we've had free and fair elections, we've accepted the outcomes when we may not have liked them, and that is what must be expected of anyone standing on a debate stage in a general election.

He is denigrating and talking down our democracy, and I, for one, am appalled."

The Democrats are now pushing another theory since the latest one about Putin "hacking" the election. It now seems that the electors should take into consideration that Trump actually lost in all the swing states if you count the votes of the Hillary voters who didn't vote because they didn't think Trump would win.

I blame the cold spell we're having now that is causing minds to freeze.

I think Trump's election was a mandate for ": make America get off its lazy ass and work again." To many people with a hand out wanting a free ride to do nothing... Free Free Free.......OMG its sick.... get up and go to work.. the working people are tired of the BS in Washington handing out.....

Bring back the WPA... Want the government to give you a check and take care of your needs? Show up Monday at your local Town hall and bring a shovel or a pair of gloves cause your gonna work for that "free" check from now on. That's how the infrastructure in this country got built and needs to rebuilt....\

And maybe the "Rear-end" Al Sharpton can pay all his back taxes too instead of running his mouth? I gues Hillary found out who is "with" her? Im with the working folks that work hard everyday not with someone who wants "open borders" and Shiaria law? Its funny how all the LGBT community wanted her when in fact when you see who she got her billions to run from are the same folks that in their respective country kill every minority...

The Democrats believed that by electing Hillary Clinton, it was to be their ultimate victory over those who opposed Obama once and for all. Hillary was going to stuff the Supreme Court with enlightened progressives. The Senate and maybe the House was going to fall to them. They would control everything.

But it wasn't just Trump. They lost both the House and the Senate. It was Yorktown, Waterloo, Gettysburg but worse. How could they possibly lose? How could those uneducated farmers in flyover country vote for Trump and the Republicans ? It was not simply an election loss. They lost latterly at every level of the Federal Government. Everything slipped through their fingers and was gone.

It broke them. They have come unhinged like a widow at a funeral weeping over the coffin.

Shame on me for enjoying it so much

I'm one of Hillary's Deplorables and I'm definitely not sorry she lost!

It's too bad that the electors are just going through the motions and not adhering to their purpose as stated by Hamilton. THIS is the moment Hamilton was preparing us for.

Federalist 68.

"Their votes, thus given, are to be transmitted to the seat of the national government, and the person who may happen to have a majority of the whole number of votes will be the President. But as a majority of the votes might not always happen to centre in one man, and as it might be unsafe to permit less than a majority to be conclusive, it is provided that, in such a contingency, the House of Representatives shall select out of the candidates who shall have the five highest number of votes, the man who in their opinion may be best qualified for the office.

The process of election affords a moral certainty, that the office of President will never fall to the lot of any man who is not in an eminent degree endowed with the requisite qualifications. Talents for low intrigue, and the little arts of popularity, may alone suffice to elevate a man to the first honors in a single State; but it will require other talents, and a different kind of merit, to establish him in the esteem and confidence of the whole Union, or of so considerable a portion of it as would be necessary to make him a successful candidate for the distinguished office of President of the United States. It will not be too strong to say, that there will be a constant probability of seeing the station filled by characters pre-eminent for ability and virtue. And this will be thought no inconsiderable recommendation of the Constitution, by those who are able to estimate the share which the executive in every government must necessarily have in its good or ill administration. Though we cannot acquiesce in the political heresy of the poet who says: "For forms of government let fools contest That which is best administered is best,'' yet we may safely pronounce, that the true test of a good government is its aptitude and tendency to produce a good administration."

I absolutely agree. Remember when Bush 2 was elected? It was a rough beginning but everyone ended up accepting it. They accepted his reelection. But this time is different. You elected an utter buffoon who is filling our Whitehouse with the most elite of the elite, billionaires and corporate executives and bankers, and will continue to enrich himself and his colleagues at the same time as ignoring our national security. He has such little knowledge of world affairs and diplomacy and now is refusing to get daily intelligence briefings. He is bouncing his children between government business and his own business creating giant conflicts of interest. None of this seems to matter to people like you. The only explanation is the complete and utter misunderstanding of the office. Sad times for this country as our civic knowledge and concern has hit rock bottom.

Who the fuck wants "Sharia Law" you dim-wit? See, this is the issue. Uneducated and moronic fools like this.

If you read the comments on her Facebook post, there is one lady who is just way off the reservation. That commenter just doesn't get it. It is so scary. She has written at least 30 comments to Peg on Facebook on that subject. This has to be harassment.

Good for Peg standing her ground and for exposing the how the left is "bullying" her.

The population centers put Barak Obama in office and his legacy ranks with Jimmy Carter's horrifying tenure. HRC would have been another 4-years of typical Washington gridlock and protectionism of the Obama legacy. Thank God for middle America waking up and placing these liberal entitlement junkies in their place. Taking a business approach in governmental administration, rather than a standard political approach, hopefully will reverse the stench and decay authored by the left and Obama administration. I'm sure Peg will do her duty as the others will, and we all hope America will get better: It absolutely needs it!

None of us should be surprised at how the Democrats has reacted to this election. The question of accepting the election results was asked of Trump, not because any thought he would be up in arms over a loss, but because they would not be okay with a defeat; it's what they know because it's what is in their heart.

Same goes for the irrational fears of all the identity groups whining over Trump's desire to put them in concentration camps; those expectations arise because, given the chance, that's what they would do to any who disagreed with them.

They give voice to the fears they have of having done to them what they would do to others given the chance.

The Democrats will never learn. They were ecstatic as Obama made end-runs around Congress for the last eight years, not understanding, or caring, that he was setting a precedent for all future presidents.

They cheered as Obama and many others ignored and/or unilaterally rewrote laws that he didn't like...again, possible precedent.

Now they're demanding, with threats in many cases, that the electoral college ignore the votes of the American public. The Democrats, along with all of their ridiculous sycophantic fans still haven't figured out that the Trump victory is a repudiation of them and Obama's lawless behavior of the past 8 years. For any of them to invoke "conscience" at this stage of the game proves that they have lost all sense of reality.

If Trump is as bad as they say. they should let him be president, let him fall on his face and they can pick up the pieces in four years the heroes of the whole country and the world.

Their great fear, and do not doubt this, is that Trump will not fail in making America great again.

Bernie O'Hare said...

He is the elected president. I and most Dems are willing to give him a chance. I am doubtful that will be anywhere near as good as you think or nearly as bad as some Dems think. I also happen to think America is already great.

9:21 AM

You do realize that if it goes to the House, it's one vote per state?

Anonymous said...

There is hope, there needs to be a lot of therapy made available to those who are suffering so much. The best situation would be weekend long discussions with Trump supporters, maybe everyone would need to wear a seatbelt for the first day. Eventually everyone will realize life will go on and Trumps policies will most likely not have a negative effect on the vast majority of folks.

So when will an Elector ask for a briefing concerning Hillary Clinton's violations of the Espionage Act? Campaign finance? Charitable Trusts?

Anonymous said...

11:28 and if it goes to the House, Trump still wins.

Anonymous said...

As would have Bush in 2000.

For that matter, Clinton 1992 and 1996 did not get a majority of the vote. I believe Republicans had more states in the House then as well.

Maybe Hamilton DID know what he was doing!

Dear Democrats who are financially supporting the United States Postal Service with all of your Christmas cards and letters addressed to Electors and trying the convince them not to vote for Donald Trump on Monday:

The real rigging of this election was by the Democratic Party establishment against Bernie Sanders in favor of Hillary Clinton via superdelegates and leaked debate questions. Was that the Russians, too?

Anonymous said...

Losing power has a tremendous capacity to expose a person's character through desperation.

Exhibit 1: Hillary Clinton by surreptitiously not accepting the results of the election by using surrogates such as Jill Stein and now using John Brennan to say that it was the Russians that caused her to lose the election.

Also using John Podesta and the Hollywood left to de-legitimize Trump's victory by playing her games with the Electors. Have you seen that commercial made by Martin Sheen and all of those other b-listers calling for Electors to change their votes like it's a fucking campaign ?

We really dodged a bullet this time. Even more than we did back in 2004 when Kerry lost to W.

For purposes of clarity, are we discussing the emails that revealed that Donna Brazille receiving debate questions ahead of time? Or are we discussing the emails that revealed staff concerns that Hillary was too drunk to communicate with until the following morning? Or are we discussing the emails from Podesta ordering Clinton Foundation-related emails be dumped, even after a subpoena requiring their preservation was issued?

The FBI says there was no Russian hacking. I don't believe them, as they've lowered their reputation to one of partisan hacks under Comey. Claims of Russian hacking should be vigorously pursued. But nobody has questioned the authenticity of the emails. Their content is chilling and should also be thoroughly investigated. It seems the Electoral College may have saved us from a tremendously unscrupulous candidate who clearly can't be trusted with national security secrets.

The right won the election yet the hate is palpable. What happened to eh "Obama is not my President" and "Hillary Clinton will not be my President". These are the people who are now lecturing people. Double standard much?

Maybe the Obama staff will remove all the Ts from White House keyboards (after Gore sued). Ds created the double standard they now decry. Hypocrisy runs both ways.

What this all boils down to is the Democrats are saying that Trump’s Election is far "Legitimate", and that guy i not my president. That Hillary won the popular vote and that's what matters.

In other words the same as Bush in 2000 all over again.

Yeah, because Hillary needed the debate questions in advance. She is utterly clueless after 30 years on the job. Bernie got his ass handed to him in PA, NY, CA and every other big state. I love Bernie but you people are insufferable.
