But last night, as the Phillies battled the Mets for 14 at Citizens Bank Park, the crowd suddenly erupted in chants of "USA, USA, USA."
After ten years, Osama bin Laden has finally struck out!
Sit down.
For a moment, we can all remember that we're not Democrats or Republicans, but Americans.
Just as suddenly, oil prices are tumbling.
How about that?
Updated 10:47 AM: LV Congressman Charlie Dent issues statement:
“The death of Osama Bin Laden represents a major victory in the global war on terror. I am extremely proud of our military and intelligence communities, whose unswerving determination and perseverance led to this important achievement.
“Thousands of innocent Americans lost their lives during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks orchestrated by Osama Bin Laden, and many more sacrificed life and limb in the years following 9/11 working to bring the world’s most dangerous terrorist to justice. Today, we pay tribute to these individuals and reaffirm our commitment to ensuring the security of the American people.
“While the death of Osama Bin Laden is certainly a major step forward in international efforts to dismantle terrorist organizations like Al-Qaeda, it does not signal an end to the global war on terror. We must remain dedicated to combating extremism and vigilant in working to prevent terrorist attacks in the United States and abroad.”

Oil is going down, cause they are all scared of us now. We may take ten years but we get the job done. USA!
Oil prices are going to go down for a day and than go back up. It is the nature of the commodity markets. Nothing fundamentally changed in the supply and demand picture and there might be temporary higher levels of unrest as followers celebrate his Martyrdom and his 72 Virgins by offing themselves.
I'm glad he is dead. However his goal was to draw us into a long drawn out war and bankrupt us like he did the Soviets. Given the debt ceiling debate...
Prove to me that he is dead!
Donald Trump
The photoshopped image of bin Laden in Yankee road greys is offensive. Anybody who knows anything about baseball and politics knows he was a loyal member of Red Sox Nation.
Host Said: "For a moment, we can all remember that we're not Democrats or Republicans, but Americans."
Funny how we're all supposed to be "Americans" when a Democrat is President. Where was that sentiment when Bush was persuing the War on Terror and UBL? He got nothing but taunts about Osama still being alive....and that included from that drunk Ted Kennedy.
Just imagine is Obama got his way: we'd be OUT of Afghanistan by now and there would have been no Seals raid.
Way to many questions here. Where are the pictures of the dead guy? Why a quick burial at sea? Supposedly they indicated last week that they had him--shot him. I listened to the news off and on all day did not hear until this morning that he had been shot. I'm with anonymous 7:23AM show me the body.
A good thing, finally something for which Obama can legitimately be credited.
Wonder, though, how he will sleep at night. Violating another nation's sovereignty, using assassination (UBL was supposedly shot once cleanly through the head by a sharpshooter).
You know, all the things his skirt wearing supporters whine and scream about when someone else does it.
Where's the outrage?!
anonymous 8:36am Ummmmm wasn't Obama that INCREASED troops in Afghanistan!

It's a great day for America!
However, I've heard news reports that US forces were under orders to kill Bin Laden and not just capture him.
If true, I would love to know the reasoning behind that decision. It would seem to me that capturing Bin Laden alive and interrogating him (and yes, I mean harshly) could yield a tremendous amount of intelligence data about Al-Qaeda’s worldwide operations – both past and present.
I realize there are other issues associated with taking him alive, but I would think the opportunity to gain information that could damage the entire terrorist network would outweigh any other concerns.
Maybe I'm missing something that you or others could think of.
Still, it's hard to feel very bad about Bin Laden being dead.
Killing him was the best option. Having a Bin Laden alive would evolve into a global public relations tool for the Islamic extremists who would love to have him as a sacrificial lamb. Not to mention all the cost to house and protect the SOB.
Both Bush and Obama deserve credit for this. Bush's tactics in capturing dangerous enemies and interrogating them ruthlessly led to the intelligence that permitted Obama and his people to find the rat. In a way, it was a Republican President who loaded the gun and a Democrat President who pulled the trigger.
Patrick, What I have read in several news accounts is that Osama was given an opportunity to surrender. I have read nowhere that this was strictly a hit.
"Funny how we're all supposed to be "Americans" when a Democrat is President."
In the days following 9/11, we were all Americans. A republican was President.

I've heard otherwise on TV and radio this morning.
A half-hour ago the mcall.com headline was "U.S. forces were under orders to kill Bin Laden". The related article mentions:
"This was a kill operation", the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
This is an evolving story. The initial accounts state Osama was given an opportunity to surrender.
The fact that oil prices are dropping just shows how speculative that market has always been.
There's never really much substantive reason for the ups and downs.....it always rises because speculators play on people's pessimism and fears. Now it drops in response to positive sentiments.
But not the point today. Hopefully this sends a message that across administrations and over a decade, the US had the perserverance to get it done.
Say what you will, but Obama is the most militaristic president since FDR. He tripled Afghan forces. He dramatically increased Pakistani drone raids. He started a war in Libya and is busily nation building in Egypt. He clearly has a use for Gitmo and is continuing Rendering as drawn up by Clinton's NSA. Math and money handling seem to stump him. But he's not missed a beat in the exceptional superpower department when presented with the opportunity to shoot someone. It's reassuring, at minimum.
The spin being put out is that The Pakistani Military and intelligence services had nothing to do with this mission. The compound is located near the Kashmir province of India a area that 3 wars were fought over since 1948.Blackhawks and or Ospreys are very loud!!! The compound was close to Islamabad. and there were air defense systems in place to prevent air attack from India. Did the C.I.A. drive to the compound and drive out with Bin Laden as is being reported. I will be returning to my survival bunker now
Agree with 7:23 also, why so quick to bury a dead man who we have searching for for 10 yrs.. Oh Obamas ratings are down! lets make up more lies.BULLSHIT. He has been dead for years.Wake up people. QUESTION AUTHORITY! all the crap they post in the paper, and we cant even get a picture of Osama dead,, ye ok.
So it took 10 years to get this guy? We are supposed to have the best military and intelligence in the world and we couldn't find this guy? And all along he was in a mansion 2 miles from the Pakistan capital? I say instead of killing him we should have made him head of the CIA. This guy was good! And now Barry wants to pound his chest and tell us how good he is. Give me a break.
1:55, you are retarted!
The order to kill is obvious. BinLaden knows SOMETHING about Obama, and the Big O needed that to be covered up..... Wake up America! How timely that just before this Big O decides to show us his fake birth certificate, and now with this manipulated story of the killing...he's hoping people will forget about the birth certificate lie. Trump....please keep this alive!!!! I know you will!
Where is the price of oil going down????
