Carmike Offering $5 Matinees

I watch no television. I consider it a monumental waste of time. But every weekend, I try to see at least one movie. It's an expensive habit. Tickets are $10, and even the smallest popcorn and soda is around $11. Some weekends, I just can't afford it.

Carmike, however, is trying to make things a little easier. Between 4 PM and 5:30 PM, you can see all the latest hits for just $5. I took advantage of that price break to see Thor today, and the place was packed with lots of happy young families who tell me they have not been to the movies in years.

We all were given a coupon for a Thor comic book and, best of all, a Pirates of the Caribbean tattoo.

Bernie:

Check out the Roxy in Northampton. Cheap ticket prices and the concessions are cheap also.

Porn is free online. And you may butter your own popcorn.

I am sure young families loved talking to a creepy old man sitting alone in the theater.

Permission to Post
Bernie-
With local elections less than 48 hours away, permission to post.
According to some reports, the current Southern Lehigh School Board
apparently discovered a $1.1 million dollar mistake! Do they really expect anyone's vote on Tuesday? Really?

Bernie,
Please consider a separate Sunday blog entry for primary election comments.

Yeah, they did. It's a lot less creepy than anonymous attacks on a blog at 1:09 in the morning.

The Roxy is great, but it is not the latest hits. Like right now, they're playing Diary of a Wimpy Kid. It's a terrific movie, but it's in its second run now. Foe $5, you can see a movie on the day it releases at Carmike.

Bernie-
Today the Call has a story about Section 8 affordable housing.
According to one reader, the Call placed a photograph of what appears to be a young mother and child with the story that now some say is not the woman quoted within the story. Such actions if true call into question editorial integrity. Maybe you can find out if this is true.

Becky's Drive-in is also a good option to see first run movies. $8/for two movies (though granted if you stay for both it is a very late night). It is also great for families.
