UMBT Approves "9th Largest Bldg" in US

David Friedman, an Upper Mount Bethel Tp (UMBT) Supervisor, advised Northampton County Council last night that UMBT has just conditionally approved the 9th largest building in the country. It will be over 1.5 million sq ft when complete. Friedman said he has no idea what is intended, but possible uses do include a warehouse.

In April, County Council voted 6-3 for a tax break for the developer at that site

UPDATED: I am unsure how this proposed building actually ranks among the country's largest buildings.

Bend over umbt voters

Lori Vargo-Heffner voted for this nonsense. She votes to stop landfill expansion but will vote to put a warehouse in another person's backyard. She should just become a Republican already!

Food for thought. UMBT doesn't have a sewage treatment plant and draws water from wells. If you build a 1.5 million sq. ft building you would assume that it would have people working in it. GOD FORBID THEY HAVE TO TAKE A DUMP. Where do you think all that feces will go? Into your acquifer. Into you wells? Drink up UMBT.

@8:36AM Changing parties is the only way she might win any election ever again.

Only three people on the County Council had any guts when they voted no for this. Thank you Tara Zrinski, Kevin Lott, and Ron Heckman.

If Ed Nelson thinks it's good, it's good. Santa knows, for goodness sake. Also, I think it's going to be the eleventieth largest, after all the hot air dissipates.

Heckman voted for the tax break.

And there's another 16 million square feet of warehouses, other businesses and residential housing coming to the rest of the Lehigh Valley. Paving over some of the best farmland in the state. Gone forever.

The real story is that Mr.Pector, owned the land and already had the zoning to do what he wanted. His plan for the building is mixed use and has manufacturing tennets lined up. He has agreed to build a sewage treatment plant for the township, he will give to the volunteer fire company and the township. The NIMBY's opposed to this don't want their taxes raised yet the township is broke. They had their days in court and lost. This is a logical place; it is right off a major interstate. It will not contribute to truck traffic in the rest of the county. We need something UP here to generate revenue. Not everyone can sit on their porch and watch birds all day, some of us need jobs. Mr. Pector was always going to build something on his land and without this tax code he would have built just warehouses, and this may change that.

I appreciate the courage of those who were honest about all of this and not pandering to the nimby crowd like the county executive that just follows the votes. He did endorse this project until the political winds changed. Don't worry about UMB, since no one cared before. How about doing something about all the warehousing in the rest of the county that you promoted for years and now complain about. We are fine. Just ask MR A.

MCall highlighted how Maria Montero took big money from Lou Pektor. She will be easily manipulated and clearly already sold out the people of UMB.

Maria is an independently minded woman who believes in Congressional term limits, she’s the only candidate that will be able to remove Susan Wild from her throne. The funny thing is that the democrats received hundreds of millions of stolen money from disgraced Sam Bankman-Fried and you are posting about $3300. You are either a democrat or a republican who likes being ruled by democrats.

LOL. Did you read the paper? She is a puppet for the multimillionaire elites like Pektor, Meuser and Scheller who don’t live here and/or don’t care about us here in the LV. Scheller packed up and moved to Florida when she lost for the second time and Meuser is the epitome of the swamp. He bought his seat in Congress and never looked back

We are the puppets and Susan Wild is the puppet master. Susan already has 1.5M in her arsenal. Let’s rely on “only” the donations from PA-7 while Hollywood Susan is schmoozing across the country. It’s delusional if you think republicans are going to take the seat with a close-minded mentality of only fund raising in PA-7. We are all suffering here and it is time for change.

Cusick voted against the LERTA, Heckman voted for it.

For perspective, the 10th largest building in the U.S. is 4.5 million square feet.

Loser Lisa Scheller writing from Florida is the only person who calls her Hollywood Susan. That never caught in otherwise. Go enjoy the beach, Lisa! Enjoy retirement and stop handing the seat to Wild like you did the last 2 times, and before that by supporting Marty. No one wants your new pick of Maria either. Take a hint. Kinda sad that you don’t get it.

@848. You must be RM’s mommy. She sold her congressional seat for $3k??? Make it make sense!! Ryan loses this election, then mommy is next

3. Warehouse on former US Steel Site - Fairless Hills - 2.11 million sf
4. Ashley Furniture warehouse Leesport PA - 1.7 million sf
5. Hershey Co. warehouse near Palmyra - 1.66 million sf

1:16 your kidding right? The infrastructure in UMBT simply can't handle this large scale sprawl.Jobs? They won't even pay a living wage and will be automated in the future. I'll show decorum and not quote from Josey Wales about the substance running down our backs.
