McClure Wants to Fund ALL 660 Small Businesses Who Sought Grants

Last week, NorCo $4 million in grants to 302 small businesses negatively impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. Most are for $15,000. These were awarded on a first come, first served basis. As a result, 358 worthy businesses who applied late were left out. Executive Lamont McClure was hopeful that he might be able to open up a second round of funding with left over funds from the $27.6 million in CARES money provided to the county. He reported to NorCo Council last night that the County has sufficient funds for all 660 small business grant applications.

NorCo Council will have to approve these grants. If they do, the county will have spent $8.7 million to help small businesses. "I can't think of a better use of the CARES money," said McClure.

Good news to address an unforced error by Wolf, who destroyed the state's small business community and enabled one of the largest transfers of wealth in US history from mom and pops to global conglomerates. When he wasn't signing death warrants for our state's elderly, he was purposefully murdering small businesses. Thank a wealthy Democrat if you own stock in the following .....

Since Lockdowns:
Amazon: profit up 100%
Walmart: profit up 80%
Target: profit up 80%
Lowe's: profit up 74%
Microsoft, Facebook, Apple, Google: stock at record high.

Small businesses: 21% closed; revenue for rest down 30%.

Some businesses that received the first round are suspect. Check them out. Must have friends somewhere.

Must be wonderful to do nice things with other peoples money.

Here's an idea, stop with the bullshit, and open up small businesses and we will fund them and actually get some thing or some service for it.

Anon 914am, couldn't have said it better myself.

Only saving grace here is the Lehigh Valley's small business community is hold up better than the national average. That's no solace to those who had to close though.

McClure did nothing. Anyone can present to County Council if they have an idea. It was organized by the LV Chamber of Commerce.
